Smile
"You died in my arms... smiling as if everything was alright."
"You know" she started while fiddling with the freshly picked flowers they have collected earlier this day. "I've never seen you smile." His eyes landed into her blue ones before breaking eye contact and clearing his throat.
"If I were to smile without a valid reason you'd think I'm crazy."
"Yes, but if you were to continue sulking without a valid reason, I would think YOU are crazy." She shot back which earned a small smile from him. It was only for a brief moment but it didn't go unnoticed by the young lady.
"Oh my- You smiled!" She squeels loudly which earned a sigh of annoyance from the man. She smiles brightly which earned a glare from the man. I hate that smile.
"Smiling is one of the most painful thing to ever remember. I have lived for over a millenia. A Millenia. I have seen everyone I've loved die and do you know what they all had in common? They died smiling." He bitterly smiled as he snaps at her which made her silent.
Nothing was said between them. She shook her head in embarrasment and tears started to fall into her eyes. "I-I shouldn't h-have pried. I-I'm sorry. But-" she hesitantly said and whispered the last part.
"-atleast you get to see them again. I'm a mere mortal and I only get to see and remember them once." She sniffles as she retreated into her room.
He looked over her retreating figure. Horrified of what he has done. "You died in my arms. I was the one who took your life... yet you smiled like everything was alright." He whispers to the wind and sighed in resignation.

Fragile as a Feather
"Our love is as fragile as a feather."
"...all you needed to do was ask. I would have complied to your wishes." She silently cries as he looked over her with guilt on his eyes.
She grabs the golden scissors from his hands and cut the string that once held them together. He looks blankly, speechless at the sudden turn of events.
The golden thread that used to hang over their pinky fingers slowly deteriorates into dust. He could do nothing but watch as it vanishes into the wind.
"Why? W-why didn't you try and talk me out of this? Why-" He was cut off ehen she suddenly spoke
"I'm tired. That's why." She blankly stared at him. Her eyes that was once full of life turned into something dull and wariness.
"I'm tired of thinking that you care. I'm tired of TRYING to make you love me. I'm tired of... loving you." She hesitates and whispers the last part as she stood up and took her leave.
"I-I'm so-"
"No. You're not. You're guilty. And even if you did mean it." She raises her empty pinky finger. "Nothing will change."
He could do nothing but stare at her vanishing figure and feel his now empty pinky finger.
What have I done?
