okay im sorry but just imagine being kageyama tobio. your parents are always working late, your sister quit volleyball years ago and now she's off being an adult and having a career, none of your teammates get why you care so much and the only guy who did, because he cared the same amount in the same way, graduated 2 years ago and also hated your guts. your peers have given you a cruel nickname just so they can reinforce how little they like or understand you, you dont have any friends, you have nothing but volleyball actually, your grandfather is dead and you are clinging to the promise he made you when you were a little kid because if you dont you might just go insane. you are so, so incredibly lonely.

and then, THEN, this scrawny 5 foot nothing kid stares you down outside the gymnasium bathrooms and promises to beat you, and he totally sucks at volleyball. like, he. is. terrible. but he can run, and he has good reflexes, he jumps so high he looks like he's flying, and most importantly he runs headfirst into a wall and then says 'we haven't lost yet' like its the most obvious thing in the world when his teammates ask him why he bothered. and you realise this kid is just like you, the same kind of fucked in the head you are. and youre furious, what the hell has this guy been doing for the past 3 years? your grandfather promised you that someone even better would come and find you are here he is, but you beat his team in less than an hour and you're pretty sure you'll never see him again, despite him promising to take you down, because never once in your life has anyone who was supposed to stick around actually do that. you're angry because you didn't have to be so painfully lonely all these years, you could've had someone who kept up with you, but he just wasn't there, because he sucks and you don't but he doesn't have to and that makes it so much worse than you just being a freak who was completely one of a kind.

and then you go back to your team, back to your last middle school tournament, and you play more games. only this time youre pissed. you know that there's someone else like you now, someone who will. not. stop until the ball has hit the floor and you don't get why your teammates won't just be better, try harder, move faster. and then they abandon you too. you thought you were alone before, but now you have absolutely nothing, not even volleyball. and you didn't get into the school your grandfather went to, and the coach you picked your back-up school for is in the hospital, and your plan for the next 3 years is to essentially bide your time until you get scouted into the v-league because you literally do not have anything left and you are doing everything your 15 years old and incredibly depressed self can because you refuse to let go of volleyball, no matter how lonely it makes you, no matter how much it hurts to cling on.

and then, AND THEN. that same scrawny dumbass from that 2-0 match in middle school is there and he still sucks and he's still the same kind of fucked in the head that you are and you won't give him one of your 'royal sets', not after what happened last time, you can't stop being lonely but you can at least try to not get abandoned again. and he says 'forget all that, i'll be here no matter what', and he spikes the damn set. he shuts his freaking eyes and he trusts you and you have just had the rug pulled out from underneath your damn feet because you understand, maybe better than anyone else, being ready to do whatever it takes to win but who the hell just fully puts their faith in someone else like that and maybe, just maybe, this kid was serious when he swore he'd get better and take you down.

he's invincible as long as youre there and so are you as long as you have him. you ask him if he's prepared to go all the way to the world stage to take you on, because you've never set your sights anywhere else, and he tells you he'll match you every step of the way. he picks up your crown, puts it right back on your head and proves to you that he refuses to leave you just like everyone else did, even at your worst. you tossed and he spiked and he said 'i'm here' and he is.

he is, and he never stops being here for you, chasing after you, making you chase after him, even when he's on the other damn side of the planet. and then 6 whole years after you first met him, first played him, first thought that maybe your grandfather would keep his promise to you, you get to play him again and you realise that he is your someone even better, always has been. actually, they all are. and you're not that lonely tyrant you used to be anymore, youre not that sad, abandoned kid hiding behind anger and obsession, you're doing the thing you love surrounded by people who love it in the same fucked in the head way that he and you do, and the man you love is there across the net from you, playing against you, and he's also there on the court next to you, playing with you, and either way he is here.

you got really, really good at volleyball, and somebody even better came and found you.

Since critiquing Adrien is my favourite hobby, I might as well offer some solutions to my gripes Namely his weird “I’m underappreciated and I’m being replaced by the temp heroes” plotline, resulting in the aneurysm known as Kuro Neko. I just don’t understand the logic behind it. It doesn’t fit who Adrien is. Adrien LOVES being Chat Noir, but is then way to willing to quit when things aren’t the way he wants. That’s like Harry Potter threatening to leave Hogwarts to do live with the Dursleys. Doesn’t add up. It’s out of character. Adrien likes the status quo. It’s comfortable. He gets to be Chat Noir, fight crime and flirt with a girl he’s desperately trying to ware down. So wouldn’t it make more sense for him to try and keep this status quo post Ladybug becoming the Guardian, out of fear of loosing what he’s gained? IDK man feels like a natural progression to me

If I’d been presented with this prompt, here’s how I’d have done it:

Instead of him moping and waiting for the others to notice, I’d have him over-do it Being “too helpful” Always wanting to do everything, to the point of stepping on everyone’s toes Not intentionally hurting some feelings by just taking over and not letting the temps help Even when their powers would be more useful for the plan Talking over them, volunteering to do everything etc. Just going over-board with rampant and unrivaled enthusiasm And then instead of being happy about Purple Tigress, she’s his worst fear Since she’s the closest to being a Chat Noir replacement Cat who can destroy things (I say this as someone who really liked that Chat reacted well to Purple Tigress in canon, it’s cute but doesn’t match his jealously towards the temps this season) And Nino can still dislike Chat Noir and tell Adrien about it, but not because of the flirting Because Chat was unintentionally a dick to him Then when Gabriel gets all the Miraculous, Chat Noir is forced to realize how valuable the temps were How, without their support, being a hero is a lot harder than he realized And Chat learns to be a team player and work with others Learns the true power of love and friendship!!!!

But hey what do I know? All I do know is that the “Adrien feels neglected” was chore to get through, and I don’t think it’ll be fondly remembered years from now But maybe I’m wrong about that too?

“the owl house is a good show with good lgbt+ rep and poc rep” and the “owl house should do a better job of handling their poc and lgbt+, characters” are two statements that can, and should, coexist

yeah, amitys redemption arc was rushed and there should be more episodes centered around gus and willow, and yeah it would be amazing if they would say the words lesbian and bisexual in the show, but that isnt to discredit everything the owl hour has done. its given a safe space for queer pocs and while it could definitely be better, we shouldnt overlook it feats, like our first wlw animated disney kiss and an honest to god nonbinary character that canonically uses they/them pronouns. 

recently i found a blog dedicated to hating on toh, and tbh, they make some good points. it was fucked up that a non-black character was about to brand a black boy on screen, and some more thought should have been put into luzs ethnicity, instead of just confirming she was afro-latina while having no indication of this being true in the show. 

the owl house could be worse, but it could also be a lot better. we should, as a fandom, be able to point out its flaws while still being able to enjoy the show, and the lessons it strives to execute.

In the grim walker book it shows a progression chart of a baby, which then proceeds to get older. From this image it seems like grimwalkers start off as babies and grow normally from there. But then this leads to another question. When The Collector was telling Belos to make a new grimwalker he shows a grown hand coming out of the ground. Babies don't typically have developed hands like that (duh) so this then makes it seem like Grimwalkers start off as fully grown, just with fake memories.

But I don't think either is necessarily the case.

My theory is that when a grimwalker is made they ARE a baby, but they're made in the ground. In the book there are 3 images of different ages of a grim walker. The baby image is the biggest picture, to maybe show that this is where they start the ritual. They age and develop underneath the ground at the normal speed of a normal person aging, and when they are more developed is when they reach their hand out of the ground, showing they are ready to be in the world. The image in the middle which looks like a young child, has a check mark for them, maybe to show that this is when they come out of the ground. When they get out they continue to age normally from there, like in the third image. Maybe they are put underground for so long is so they can be as precise and accurate as the person they are supposed to be a copy of.

To put it simply: a grimwalker is made in the ground as an infant, they age until they are a very young child (which would have a more developed hand), and then they come out of the ground ready to experience life.

So this would explain why Hunter said that “Belos found him and took him in". Hunter IS 16 years of age, it's just that for the first few years of his life, he doesn't remember anything because he was developing to be the person he's supposed to be a copy of underground.

Side note- Hunter says that “he was the youngest golden guard” . Grimwalkers need a certain amount of time to develop, but what if Belos decided to rush Hunters development and take him out earlier, therefore getting him younger and having more time to train . But this then could’ve caused some deformity or error in Hunters hands. (Since hands are the first thing that come out of the ground for a grim walker)

I can’t even enjoy the owl house fandom because of all the white favoritism. I hardly ever see art of Luz that isn’t based around her relationship with Amity and other white characters.

Like I’m sorry but do I need to remind y’all that Luz is the main character? I love Eda and Amity and Hunter but I also hate them because the fandom constantly treats Luz as an extension of them. All I ever hear anyone talk about after an episode drops is about Amity or Hunter or Eda.

Characters like Luz, Gus, Willow, and even Raine are constantly only ever appreciated when it’s centered around their relationships with the white characters. Please as a fandom, evaluate you’re bias.

Case in point, you guys have basically ignored Willow as a character until they’re was a slight hint about a relationship between her and Hunter.

I believe that after her father died, Luz started to get deeper into escapism as way to cope with her loss. She already was into fantasy books and other stuff before that. It was her father’s death that made her passion become into something more unhealthy over the course of the years. It could also be that Camila, being a single mother, didn’t always had enough time to take care of Luz and pay enough attention to her needs. Maybe she was too busy with working in her job to maintain Luz and her that she didn’t pick up these signs until Luz started to get into trouble in her school.

At first, I thought it was me overthinking things, but after the newest episode, maybe I’m onto something? Has anyone else noticed that Hunter seems to be very sensitive with his hands?

I’ve noticed this in the previous episodes, and I thought about it for a bit, but I know I tend to overthink things so I just forgot about it. But after this scene in the most recent episode I feel like there could be more to it.

He’s grabbing his hand as if it was easily in pain. (And I know the 2nd gif it’s just him being traumatized, y’know the usual, but still just wanted to point it out because it could also be physical pain)

He is ALWAYS wearing gloves, no matter what. Maybe there’s some reason behind it all. The shows constant focus on his hands, him grabbing his hands, his point to always cover his hands. It all seems too weird and too much of a coincidence to not mean anything.

I don’t know what all this could mean about his hands, and what’s so special about them, but I do hope we get some reveal or revelation on his hands, and maybe he takes his gloves off, in the future.

At first I thought it was weird that Hunter didn’t seem to be really messed up about the whole “being a grimwalker and your just another clone from a long thread of other clones that have been made and killed over and over again by Belos” situation.

And I also thought it was weird that Hunter didn’t let that illusion get to him and overwhelm him like the rest of the characters affected, even though Hunter has been through some awful shit.

He really only seemed to be bothered about the idea of Belos trying to kill him in this episode. (Which rightfully so, especially if death has been a constant threat for you your whole life) but still, that’s the ONLY thing?!

But then I realized. It’s because he represses so much. The environment he grew up in made him repress so much. Just look at how much he had loved and adored Belos, even though he was physically and emotionally abusing him. Or like when he looks back at training (something an adult scout sees as gruesome and intense) Hunter looked back on it as a fond happy memory. He has gone through so much, but the reason he isn’t crazy yet is because of how much he represses everything. He’s gotten to the point where he has convinced himself that everything he’s ever gone through is completely fine and normal. He’s never overly emotional, we’ve only seen him tear up once. He also doesn’t like opening up. He’s strong willed because of this, but repressing so much can be very damaging. Eventually, everything will get way too overwhelming for him and he will just need 1 thing to tip him over the edge. (Similar to how he lost it in Eclipse Lake)

I really admire how strong willed he is, it’s one of my favorite aspects about his character. But he also has to understand not to repress these bad memories. He has to find a better coping mechanism.
