You're the weird one, the one that half of tumblr babygirls and all of twitter is slightly scared of. You're probably autism-coded, and you probably also know some vital information that you shouldn't, for some reason.

WIP Saturday
Tagged by @simplegenius042 @g0dspeeed @direwombat @trench-rot @wrathfulrook @thesingularityseries @inafieldofdaisies 🤗💛 for the WIP of the week (never Wednesday for me, I have to make up my mind 🥹)
I can't believe that this prompt (because yes it's a prompt to begin with) is so long, and I haven't yet added the sentence that was asked of me. I am part of this story which becomes longer and longer as I write. But I let myself be carried away by the theme and here we are. There are still a few big scenes to come and I already have the ending, but I'm delighted to see that this little FC5 medieval AU appeals to some. I hope you enjoy the part 3 just as much 🤗
Part 1 Part 2
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Take off your clothes” he ordered as he began to undo his belt.
For a moment, Diane did not move, her limbs paralyzed. She could only watch him take off his tabard, his coat of mail which clinked loudly, his leather boots, his breeches... Soon all that was left was his shirt, long enough to cover his manhood.
"Are you deaf ? Or just stupid ?" he growled when he noticed that she had not obeyed him.
Diane swallowed nervously. Her saliva struggled to flow down her dry throat. Jacob came and stood in front of her, tall, immense, terrifying.
“The bed…” Diane tried, trying to hold back her tears. “The bed has not been blessed.”
Jacob's eyes slid to the bed before returning to her, with a spark of mockery in his blue irises.
"Take off your clothes. Or I'll do it myself."
Under Diane's wide eyes, he took off his shirt, revealing a broad torso covered in a thick red fleece and impressive scars and burns, throwing it carelessly on the ground. He raised an eyebrow in warning and Diane had to take off her dress. She felt it slide down her body as soon as the straps were untied, leaving her with nothing but her shirt. But it was already too much. Too much in front of a man.
“C-can you… look elsewhere ?”
An evil smile split Jacob's lips.
“I’m getting ready to fuck you and you’re still acting scared ?”
However, he turned around. With trembling hands, Diane pulled the shirt over her head and let it fall to the ground, like the last leaf on a tree in late fall.
“Undo your braid.”
Diane quickly raised her head, but Jacob still had his back turned to her. Large pinkish scars, similar to lacerations, bruised his skin under which powerful muscles rolled with his growing impatience.
Her braid undone, her long hair fell over her naked body, forming a wavy red curtain partially hiding her breasts. She was ready, just like he wanted. With tears on the edge of her eyelashes, the young woman walked towards the bed and lay down on it. The fur beneath her fingers was warm and pleasant, and she was tempted to grab it and cover herself with it.
Jacob finally turned to look at her. Diane's eyes lowered to avoid meeting his and a guilty blush warmed her cheeks as she saw his erect manhood, hidden in thick curly red hair.
Finally, Jacob climbed into bed as well. Diane shrank into the pillows, her eyes fixed on the canopy. She shuddered as she felt his hand brush aside the hair that covered her breasts. His fingers came nonchalantly to touch one of her nipples which hardened under this unexpected contact. Then, without further ado, he lay down on top of her, his broad and robust body completely covering hers, more frail. The young woman shivered as she felt his bare skin caress hers. She felt like it was made of ice, its coldness reminded her of freshly fallen snow.
Strangely, Jacob's face remained far from hers, as if he was eager to put as much distance between them in this marital embrace. His eyes weren't looking at her, fixed on an invisible point in her neck. Did he hear the frantic beating of her heart ? Could he perceive through the thin skin the jerky movement of the blood running through her veins ? That wouldn't surprise her. That wouldn't surprise her. Diane felt like she was only hearing that in her ears. It was like a crazy, frenzied drum whose skin was going to burst if this relentless rhythm didn't stop.
As she observed Jacob a little more closely, she noticed that his pupils were curiously dilated, giving his eyes a darker, more menacing shadow.
She tried not to get scared as she felt his large calloused hands slide along her stomach. The contact of his manhood pressed against her thigh inflamed her face and completed the terrorizing of her.
A slight tremor on the part of Diane pulled her husband out of his strange state. He looked up at her face.
“It’s no time to be afraid anymore, kitten” he said roughly.
One of his hands stopped on her hip to hold her while the other parted her thighs before going straight down towards the most secret place of her being. Diane closed her eyes, waiting for what happened next with apprehension.
But Jacob's hand did not touch her. Diane sat up slightly and felt something pressing against her, at the gates of her garden. She then understood what it was about and her eyes filled with tears. Tears of pain and terror.
She fell back into the pillows, her teeth sinking into her lips. Her body tensed as Jacob stole her last bit of innocence with a short growl. A squeak of pain escaped her despite herself as her body tried to adjust around his member. When he was fully inside her, Diane closed her hands on the fur beneath her, her fingers tangling in the thick hairs.
Suddenly, Jacob stood up and stepped back. And she saw the blood on his stretched penis. Her blood. The blood of her virginity. She looked up at Jacob. And was disturbed by the way he looked at her. Like a wolf. His chest heaved sporadically and his breathing was loud, as loud as a bull's. His hands shook against his hips, as if he were fighting an inner demon, a sinister beast that wanted to push him to do something his reason was screaming at him not to do.
He let out a frightening growl, which forced Diane to cower miserably, and he rushed out of the room, still naked.
Her night had been terrible, populated by distorted shadows laughing cruelly. With their long, skinny arms, they dragged her into a dark cavern where terrifying howls, filled with pain, echoed. Diane had struggled for a long time to free herself from their embrace but long black and shiny claws, similar to onyx, had dug into her skin to hold her back. The laughter had increased, becoming distorted, guttural, and the shadows had sketched smiles revealing shiny, sharp, abnormally large canines.
Then one of them broke away from this dark, laughing mass and Diane recognized Jacob with his flamboyant hair floating around his face and his eyes sparkling in the darkness, like two torches. He had advanced towards her, just as naked as when he had hastily left her, but this time his body was covered in blood which dripped onto the rocky ground with each of his steps. The laughter had stopped and the shadows began to whisper incomprehensibly as he passed. Jacob stopped in front of her and Diane looked up to meet glowing pupils and a predatory smile.
And Jacob had lunged at her with a wild growl, forcing her to wake up with a horrified scream, her body covered in freezing sweat. She could not give any rational explanation for this nightmare, probably caused by all the anxiety that had accumulated in her body. Jacob was certainly not a bloodthirsty monster. More like a man… thirsty for blood…
Days then weeks passed, until they became months. Spring, which had seen her wedding celebration, had given way to hot summer and its bright colors, then to autumn and its warm orange colors. Winter would soon arrive now, bringing cold northern winds and the first fresh, virgin snows.
Her marriage to Jacob was not fruitful. They shared their bed, but Jacob had no longer tried to touch her, ostensibly turning his back to her to sleep. Their first night together had been so disastrous that he showed obvious contempt for her. He rarely spoke to her, left her to eat alone, and only joined her at nightfall, when she was already wrapped up under the covers, her eyes full of sleep.
Diane quickly realized that she was the only woman in these walls. The only. Jacob had sent away everyone who was supposed to stay with Diane, including her maids who had been assigned to accompany her. The young woman then thought that her husband would introduce her to other servants or companions. But no. Diane was now forced to get ready alone, do her hair alone, wash herself... Which had proven rather complicated at first. She didn't know what Jacob's goal was in this vicious maneuver. Did he despise her to the point of letting her drown in solitude ? The only explanation she got from him was that he tolerated no weakness within these walls.
The young woman had tried, more out of need than out of real desire, to get closer to him, to take an interest in what he did with his days, to the decisions he made as Duke, to his hunting catches - because Jacob, in addition to being an excellent fighter, was a good hunter, she had to recognize that. But he barely responded to her, when he took the time to listen to her, otherwise he would walk away without a word, leaving her there, alone and helpless. He was an impregnable and impervious fortress in the face of her ever-increasing despair.
So Diane was embroidering. Recently, she had begun creating a large embroidery representing the Whitetail Mountains as she saw them from the window of her apartments. She wasn't particularly good with her hands, but at least her mind had something to do.
When she wasn't embroidering, she walked the corridors, under the hidden gaze of silent guards. St Francis was full of life during the day, which brought a little comfort to her heart. She often heard Jacob's men, the Chosen, training in the great courtyard. She often sat at the cushioned window and watched them, studied their precise and deadly movements, learned their feints and their dodges. Sometimes Jacob joined them to observe them in silence, his Judges close behind. So Diane also observed him, observed his impassive expression, partially hidden by his long red hair, which she had learned to decipher over time.
When one of his Chosen did not live up to his expectations, Jacob whispered something in the ear of the master-at-arms who immediately grabbed the offender and threw him to the ground, under the implacable gaze of his lord. Then Jacob launched into a strong diatribe on strength and weakness, retorting that the weak had no place in his ranks, that his Chosen had to be strong. Diane knew every word, even if it didn't resonate in her heart. What was the force ? What was the weakness ? Was she weak in Jacob's eyes and was that why he seemed to hate her ?
Then Jacob drew his sword and inflicted a scar meant to remind the Chosen that he had been weak and that he would no longer have the right to another chance. Diane understood better why some of the Chosen had a similar scar on the left side of their face, where Jacob had marked them.
But at night, the castle seemed to transform into something darker, similar to the dark cavern in her nightmare during her first night. Everything was silent. Not a calm and welcome silence. But rather a silence during a funeral wake. A dead silence, which made the hair on the back of her neck stand up and which made her tremble until she was hidden under the warm covers of her bed. Naively, she feared that something would pass through the bedroom door, despite the increased surveillance of the Chosen in the corridors.
But the only thing that came through that door was Jacob.
Fortunately, the gray clouds dissipated from time to time with the regular visits of Joseph and Faith, the young blonde woman who followed him like his shadow. The arrival of Diane seemed to have something to do with it. Which was a good thing for her because it finally gave her the opportunity to talk to people who were interested in her.
Joseph asked her many questions during meals - during which Jacob did the honor of being present as a guest. The questions always contained a hidden meaning, which Diane interpreted as questions focused on their relationship. This made her very uncomfortable. Even more so with Jacob in front of her, looking grim, glaring at his younger brother.
Aside from these rather impersonal questions, Joseph had a soothing calm that Diane appreciated and which she drew on to soothe the anxieties that consumed her.
Faith had been gentle and understanding, and enjoyed spending time with Diane. Thanks to the fact that she was Joseph's disciple - according to what Diane had deduced - she had privileges from which she allowed Diane to benefit. Where, normally, Diane was not allowed to leave the castle grounds, with Faith, they could go horseback riding on the path. Under good escort however.
It was easier to confide in Faith about her troubles with Jacob. The young woman then reassured her as much as she could, explaining to her that Jacob was known as an eternal bachelor and that he was certainly afraid of doing things wrong with her. Diane kept her thoughts to herself but she was not convinced by this version.
John came less often, his role as Marquess of Holland Valley required his full attention, but when he came to St Francis, it seemed to Diane that he was doing everything to get closer to her. He was charming, complimenting the dress she wore, her hair, her smile... far from Jacob's gaze. But it was still strange and rather disturbing. Once, he had pretended that she had an insect in her hair and had released her neck with an intimacy that was all too familiar. His index finger had even brushed against her fine skin which had caused an icy shiver down Diane's spine. She jumped away, meeting John's lustful gaze.
Since then, she did everything not to be alone with him. The only thing missing would be for Jacob to notice his brother's behavior and project his anger on Diane by accusing her of making advances towards John. And even if she didn't do anything wrong, an accusation of adultery would be the worst thing that could happen to her.
Winter was now well established in the Whitetail. A thick blanket of snow had fallen on the sides of the mountains and on the fortifications of St Francis. Dressed in a coat with a fur lining to protect her from the cold and a mantel, Diane went out into the yard, eager to walk in the freshly fallen snow and feel the flakes touch her skin. Jacob had left at dawn with his most trusted men to hunt, and Diane was almost ashamed to admit that she felt lighter when he was not at the castle.
No one paid her any attention as she walked forward, enjoying the feeling of her feet sinking into the snow. The Chosen continued to train tirelessly. Some even began training wolves captured in the vast forest that bordered St Francis. Several cages had been set up in the corner of the courtyard farthest from the castle and wolves were growling and snapping their teeth through the bars in an attempt to catch a member who passed too close. The Chosen had become more respectful towards her over time, showing a mark of consideration.
She watched the precise flight of the arrows which plunged into the center of the targets placed about twenty meters away. The fencing master glanced at her briefly before bowing his head as a sign of respect due to her rank.
“Could you show me how to use a bow ?” she asked hopefully, wanting to discover something new.
The fencing master turned fully towards her, his brows furrowed.
“Has the Lord agreed ?”
“I was hoping you could show me the basics, nothing fancy.”
The man shook his head sharply.
"If the Lord has not agreed, I cannot let you do this, my lady. If you get hurt..."
He didn't finish his sentence but the tension in his voice was palpable. Asking for Jacob's agreement was like asking for nothing at all. Diane already knew he would say no, so what's the point of going through one more disappointment.
The sound of hooves on the cleared cobblestones attracted her attention in the direction of the footbridge. Jacob was at the head of the hunting group he led. Diane frowned, surprised to see them already coming back. And her heart tightened in her chest. A woman stood behind Jacob, clinging to his waist as he moved his mount into the center of the courtyard. Looking at her threadbare outfit, she was a peasant girl. She looked around her with a stunned look. A squire hurried to grab the reins as Jacob descended with a heavy noise before turning to lower the young woman who allowed herself to be carried gracefully.
Diane shook her head, trying to convince herself that this certainly wasn't what she imagined. Perhaps this young woman had experienced some setbacks and had been lucky enough to come across Jacob's group. But an insidious voice continued to whisper in the back of his head that this woman was here for the sole purpose of satisfying Jacob. With the sole aim of humiliating her, of making her understand what value she had in the eyes of her husband.
But Diane said nothing, accepting the harsh blow dealt to her. She watched them pass, increasing Jacob's icy gaze as he placed a large hand on the frail shoulder of the young woman who was ecstatic at seeing the height of the towers which seemed to pierce the clear sky. Suddenly, all eyes seemed to weigh on her, like a heavy and unbearable leaden screed.
And suddenly everything exploded inside her. Anguish, sorrow, humiliation, betrayal, anger... Everything seemed to mix in a maelstrom of bubbling emotions to form a single entity that screamed at him to run away from here, to leave these walls. This prison. This tomb.
Nothing mattered to her anymore. Except walking. Continue walking. Cross the footbridge, which she was usually forbidden to cross. Then cross the drawbridge, the border which separated it from the outside world. Diane could barely hear the voice of the captain of the guards calling to her from the other side of the bridge. Grabbing the sides of her dress, she started running to put as much distance as possible from this place where she was not at home. Where she would never be at home.
She ran back up the trail through the hoof prints left by the hunters' horses. There must have been a village not far from St Francis. Otherwise, where did the provisions used to prepare meals come from, given that no peasants, no animals - apart from wolves - lived within the castle ? The peasant girl brought back by Jacob must have come from somewhere.
So Diane continued to run, with this hope in her heart of finding the slightest trace of civilization in the heart of this wild and frightening environment. She would find a good soul who would help her. A good soul who would agree to take her to a place where she would be safe. And she thought of Staci. His domain was not far from the Whitetail Duchy. Even if he had never responded to her numerous letters, Diane could not see him leaving her outside the gates of his castle while she was asking for asylum. Staci may have been proud, but Diane knew him well enough to know that he had a good heart.
She continued to follow the footprints, tightening her cloak around her figure to face the wind that was rising and facing her, biting her with its icy fangs. The fir trees around her were huge, all so similar. A real trap if she got lost.
A wolf howl came to her, rising like a complaint. Her heart pounding, Diane quickly turned to look behind her, but she saw nothing. Everything was clear, and a few flakes were falling lazily, slightly disturbed by a few breezes. Another howl answered the first, quickly followed by a veritable chorus. The echo of the mountains reverberated the sounds but Diane had the horrible feeling that the beasts were not that far from her. And that these beasts were stalking her.
She wanted to continue running to escape but she froze when she saw a massive silhouette stand out between two trees.
“If you keep running, I’ll break your legs” Jacob growled in a hoarse and angry voice.
His Judges sprang to his side. Only their symbolic red cross painted on their heads allowed them to be distinguished in the snow. The animals stared at Diane with their large yellow eyes, but none appeared threatening towards her. One of them even came to sniff her hand with his wet nose.
Jacob trudged towards her, the sound of his footsteps muffled by the snow, his blue eyes burning with anger.
"Come back !"
“Leave me” Diane whispered, stepping back.
The flakes continued to fall, those that fell on her skin immediately melted. She wanted to step back again but Jacob quickly grabbed her wrists and pulled her towards him. The Judge closest to Diane jumped away from this sudden movement from his master.
“I ordered you to go back” Jacob growled through gritted teeth.
"Leave me !" the young woman screamed, struggling, in vain.
Jacob's strength was far too firm for her to be able to free herself from his embrace. The wolves behind him sniffed the air, ears alert. Diane didn't know if they were the ones who found her or if Jacob had tracking skills. Maybe both. Jacob never went anywhere without his wolves.
“Leave me” she repeated in a quieter voice, stopping squirming, her legs giving way under her weight.
Jacob continued to hold her tightly, keeping her knees from touching the snow. She must have looked like a puppet whose strings had been cut, held back only by the brute force of the man in front of her.
“Why did you marry me ?” she sobbed, her head dangling. "Why are you doing this to me ? No one forced you to ask my father for my hand."
But only silence answered her. And the sound of the wind blowing gently, making her hair wave around her face covered with tears that burned her skin.
"Repudiate me. Repudiate me because I am unable to carry your child."
Her husband's hoarse, humorless laugh caused unpleasant shivers in Diane.
"You won't leave that easily, kitten. Remember who gives the orders here !"
Diane raised her head painfully to face Jacob's sparkling eyes. Flakes clung to his hair and thick beard.
“You don’t love me, why would you want to keep me ? Does seeing me suffer feed your amusement ?”

i'm very picky about tv shows, but my pickiness has only an incidental relationship to whether or not a show is "good". it needs to scratch a particular itch in my brain at the right moment. do i know what the right moment is? no. do i know what the itch is? also no. i can be relied upon to get instantly bored of 85% of tv shows and then turn the remaining 15% into a central facet of my personality for 3-5 business months and even i am incapable of predicting which one it'll be ahead of time.
