The witch had no witty lines for him, just a little box. Like she often did, it was left somewhere he would no doubt find it easily - never really one to linger when giving a gift.

Within the little black box sat a ring. One may assume it to be ivory but for creatures like them, it was all too clearly human bone. One she filed down carefully, neatly. With time and care, she whittled with her tools to smooth the interior and shape the exterior. A ring of a spinal column as anatomically correct as she could make it.

As if she hadn't noticed the rings that decorated his fingers in abundance or his taste when it came to fashion. A thank you for not only letting her harvest some bones, but be given the corpses of those she cursed when they arrived in his morgue. Enchanted to not wither and decay with time, something that would surely keep as long as he.

It was always a simple game, and yet he relished in the seeking.

Something about sensing something was Off, just enough to his senses that had the Undertaker poke and prod about his shop until he found such a gift ( hiding in his desk drawer, just inside the skull – how clever! ) to peek at. He stood at his height, holding the ring plucked from its box up to catch the make.

Bone, yet deft and careful hands had polished this, decorated as it was with a simplistic design that made the shinigami smile. How cute. And just the right size, as well. It sat comfortably ‘pon the man’s right hand, eventually to be twisted when his nervous ticks chose to manifest.

A gift of thanks in services rendered, well!

There’s a ghost of a smile, tucking the box away back where he found it.
