Animal Chatter

So, the way I imagine animals working in Auradon is that there's different 'kinds'.

There's normal animals, like the kinds we have.

There's semi-anthropomorphized animals like Lady and the Tramp, the Dalmatians in 101 Dalmatians, even creatures like Lucifer - they clearly understand what's going on and can act with intent, but without an earpiece (or very very close friendship), a normal human can't understand them.

And then there's fully anthropomorphized animals - these are your guys running around on two legs when that's not normal for them, being fully dressed, and can generally be understood by humans. These are your Basils, your mice from Cinderella, your Robin Hoods, your Honest Johns and Gideons (when Gideon's sober anyway). Now, the kids still have to learn human languages (so Olivia can't be understood at first, aside from Lampwick via friendship) but over time people don't need the earpiece anymore. These guys are basically regular folks and often ignore more animal behaviour like their species' diets.

It's always a little sad when a fic you like stops updating but more than anything I get sad at the idea that the writer just doesn't enjoy fanfic anymore or just dropped off the face of the planet so I always go check and see if they have any recent fics or bookmarks. The idea that they're enjoying ANY media even if it wasn't the one I knew them for makes me feel a lot better.

The funniest ones are like huh they haven't updated in a few years I hope they're doing okay- oh I see they've recently written 10k in starwars smut thats good for them, I'm glad they're living their best life and continue to engage in media that interest them 😭❤

Husk and Cherri Bomb are friends with Angel Dust, but while Cherri has been friends with Angel for a long time and is openly affectionate with him, Husk was formerly cold to Angel and only came to view him as a friend after Angel showed vulnerability and let his walls down around him.

Like Cherri, Husk wants what's best for Angel, but unlike Cherri who thinks that feeding into Angel's addictive tendencies are the best way to treat his depression and that living up to the hotel's standards is only making his life more difficult, Husk encourages Angel to stick with the self-improvement he's learned from the hotel and not fall back into his old ways since Angel's trying to get into Heaven.

"Welcome to Heaven" shows Angel doesn't necessarily have to pick one or the other, as he can still enjoy himself in moderation so long as he still prioritizes being a good person, Angel saying there's room for both Cherri and Husk as his friends.

Yes I ship them. Non-canonically. Yes I know they got together in canon, it was a terrible decision, it made the story much worse. I don't want them together in the story, I just ship them. What's confusing.
