they saw the backlash. they apologized and made a compromise, so what is there to be mad about? i do not hold people i do not know to high standards. i expect them to take accountability when they do something wrong and apologize. WHICH THEY DID.

I think now is a good time to remind people that the people you look up to and watch are still human beings and are allowed to make mistakes and change their minds as they learn. I'm glad they have made a way for people to get free content still like I hoped they would while trying a new avenue for funds.

Absolutely AMAZING response by Watcher imo.

They acknowledged that they made a mistake, made the wider context more clear, and addressed basically all of the criticisms brought forward by the community as far as I know.

Anyone who already subscribed to the streaming service who no longer wants it gets a refund.

Patrons get a free subscription to the streaming service.

The service now only offers early, ad-free episodes that will still be released on YouTube.

They acknowledged the insensitivity of the original pitch and how the price is not something that everyone can afford.

THIS is how you respond to backlash, especially this widespread. Take time to collect your thoughts, take the criticism into account, and change your actions going forward.

It isn't shameful to be a trans woman and dudes aren't going to explode being compared to them. Egg jokes are not a big deal and a trans woman saying some shit like "hey, I used to do that before I realized I was trans" is not a big deal, infact most trans women wish someone had helped them realize sooner. If it turns out the person is just a cis dude, big deal! Being upset that your actions can be seen as a thing trans women do is suspect as hell! Being a trans woman is not a bad thing to be!

I'm very impressed with the backtracking here. I think this is the right choice, I think it's very fair, and I think they seemed to understand the gravity of their mistakes.

Also, in the non-verbal communication side of things, a lot of people were noticing that Shane was the biggest shock given his track record of saying things like "Eat the rich", and I found his physical presence in the original video was more uncomfortable than the others. In THIS video, he is the centre focus in the couch and physically seems more comfortable. I am certain this was deliberate because Shane is a bit more aligned with the audience's thoughts, in the past at least, so he seems to be bringing it back to centre with him being there.
