Peni Delina Bedard · August 31, 2019  ·  The serious answer: Here’s what we really think about Trump supporters - the rich, the poor, the malignant and the innocently well-meaning, the ones who think and the ones who don’t… That when you saw a man who had owned a fraudulent University, intent on scamming poor people, you thought “Fine.” That when you saw a man who had made it his business practice to stiff his creditors, you said, “Okay.” That when you heard him proudly brag about his own history of sexual abuse, you said, “No problem.” That when he made up stories about seeing Muslim-Americans in the thousands cheering the destruction of the World Trade Center, you said, “Not an issue.” That when you saw him brag that he could shoot a man on Fifth Avenue and you wouldn’t care, you chirped, “He sure knows me.” That when you heard him illustrate his own character by telling that cute story about the elderly guest bleeding on the floor at his country club, the story about how he turned his back and how it was all an imposition on him, you said, “That’s cool!” That when you saw him mock the disabled, you thought it was the funniest thing you ever saw. That when you heard him brag that he doesn’t read books, you said, “Well, who has time?” That when the Central Park Five were compensated as innocent men convicted of a crime they didn’t commit, and he angrily said that they should still be in prison, you said, “That makes sense.” That when you heard him tell his supporters to beat up protesters and that he would hire attorneys, you thought, “Yes!” That when you heard him tell one rally to confiscate a man’s coat before throwing him out into the freezing cold, you said, “What a great guy!” That you have watched the parade of neo-Nazis and white supremacists with whom he curries favor, while refusing to condemn outright Nazis, and you have said, “Thumbs up!” That you hear him unable to talk to foreign dignitaries without insulting their countries and demanding that they praise his electoral win, you said, “That’s the way I want my President to be.” That you have watched him remove expertise from all layers of government in favor of people who make money off of eliminating protections in the industries they’re supposed to be regulating and you have said, “What a genius!” That you have heard him continue to profit from his businesses, in part by leveraging his position as President, to the point of overcharging the Secret Service for space in the properties he owns, and you have said, “That’s smart!” That you have heard him say that it was difficult to help Puerto Rico because it was in the middle of water and you have said, “That makes sense.” That you have seen him start fights with every country from Canada to New Zealand while praising Russia and quote, “falling in love” with the dictator of North Korea, and you have said, “That’s statesmanship!” That Trump separated children from their families and put them in cages, managed to lose track of 1500 kids, has opened a tent city incarceration camp in the desert in Texas - he explains that they’re just “animals” - and you say, “Well, OK then.” That you have witnessed all the thousand and one other manifestations of corruption and low moral character and outright animalistic rudeness and contempt for you, the working American voter, and you still show up grinning and wearing your MAGA hats and threatening to beat up anybody who says otherwise. What you don’t get, Trump supporters in 2019, is that succumbing to frustration and thinking of you as stupid may be wrong and unhelpful, but it’s also…hear me…charitable. Because if you’re NOT stupid, we must turn to other explanations, and most of them are less flattering.

hate to say it but the key to having things solved by big company customer service is you just gotta stretch the truth with them. or straight up lie. actually. was on the phone for 3 hours because they sent something to the wrong address and spoke to 10 different departments trying to figure out if anyone could go fucking get it and they're like "uhhh but can you go get it" bitch I'm 8 hours away by car, I don't live in the house where you sent it.

took a moment to think, called back and was just like. Hi. My package was stolen off the porch!!! Saw the cunt steal it myself!! Anyway can you please send new things to this other address for free since that's your policy for stolen goods thank you~☆ ! and it was immediately solved.

New Things to Beware on the Internet

On May 3rd, Google released 8 new top-level domains (TLDs) -- these are new values like .com, .org, .biz, domain names. These new TLDs were made available for public registration via any domain registrar on May 10th.

Usually, this should be a cool info, move on with your life and largely ignore it moment.

Except a couple of these new domain names are common file type extensions: ".zip" and ".mov".

This means typing out a file name could resolve into a link that takes you to one of these new URLs, whether it's in an email, on your tumblr blog post, a tweet, or in file explorer on your desktop.

What was previously plain text could now resolve as link and go to a malicious website where people are expecting to go to a file and therefore download malware without realizing it.

Folk monitoring these new domain registrations are already seeing some clearly malicious actors registering and setting this up. Some are squatting the domain names trying to point out what a bad idea this was. Some already trying to steal your login in credentials and personal info.

This is what we're seeing only 12 days into the domains being available. Only 5 days being publicly available.

What can you do? For now, be very careful where you type in .zip or .mov, watch what website URLs you're on, don't enable automatic downloads, be very careful when visiting any site on these new domains, and do not type in file names without spaces or other interrupters.

I'm seeing security officers for companies talking about wholesale blocking .zip and .mov domains from within the company's internet, and that's probably wise.

Be cautious out there.

If your not busy I’d like to hear your reasoning on why you believe ptj is sexist (I agree for lookism but I don’t see it as much in htf)

HtF has the same problems as Lookism in terms of the girls acting solely as love interests or supporting cast.

They don't really play a pivotal role in the story aside from being additions to the boys or their eventual prizes. The fact that three girls out of the main cast all crushed on Hobin at some point is already sketchy. At least, Rumi gets a somewhat of a development outside of him. You can't really say that for Bomi or Gaeul, who both mainly jump around in plot device roles or love interest roles. I really like Gyeoul, but she, too, suffers the same problem of being a shallow antagonist who later turned ally for plot convenience. We don't really see any character development for these four girls, save for Rumi.

...Now that I noticed it, the author really likes to show character development for seemingly shallow girls. Which is nice in a way but it really doesn't set up the stage to develop other girls who are already nice to begin with. Even the “bad” ones don't really get character development either, they just side with the protagonist for plot convenience.

We never saw how Gyeoul went from a reserved/abandoned girl to the current her. Meanwhile, Wangguk got all of that plus his arc got expanded upon with his rivalry against the senior in the juvenile prison. That and a love interest of his own which became his motivation to get stronger.

The girls don't get stronger. The girls always get protected. The girls don't really have their own arc beyond their love interest, again, save for Rumi. Women always feel inferior and helpless in his writing, even the ones who are supposedly "in power". Lookism is more obvious with Vivi, Mitsuki, Sowol Jin, but for HtF, we does have Hyeyeon... You know, Ms Prosecutor.

She literally showed up for a few chapters to set up convenience to move the plot forwards then died immediately after with a backstory... about her romance with another male character. She also served to be her father's main motivator for the last arc, too, which, again, makes her no more than a plot device.

The female characters are always overshadowed by the male characters and given very little care for in terms of development. They don't seem to function at all during needed moments either. Even the ones capable of fighting don't often get shown fighting during crucial moments (I’m looking at that one scene where Gaeul and Gyeoul stood in front of the van in battle-ready pose only to get saved by three XJ boys and Gaeul's dad)

It's not outright antagonism, but it's definitely a demeaning point of view.

Mikey

At 27, I'm a racer and my buddy is Kenchin! I dreamed of riding a motorcycle all the time. But my biggest dream was for Emma to have a good husband. Emma and Kenchin will soon have a child. And I asked them to put “万(man)” in the name, but they objected saying it’s lame. Does that mean they have thought my name was lame?

Hakkai

Taka-chan and my brother often go out together. They seem to get along very well. I don't like that they don't let me join. I like both of brothers but it pisses me off that neither of them are interested in me.

On the day of my birthday I came home and there was a strange smell like things had rotted and there were my brother, Yuzuha and Taka-chan. Apparently my brother and Yuzuha, who have never cooked before, asked him how to make a birthday cake and they made it for me. It tasted so bad but I was so happy and I cried because I could feel everyone's love.

Baji

Mansaku asks me to train children at the dojo sometimes. Mikey is not good at teaching others because he is a genius, so he prefers me to teach them. Teaching karate to kids is a nice change of pace from all the studying I usually do. Becoming a veterinarian is a difficult dream for me because I'm not very smart.

Sometimes when I feel like falling apart, sweating here helps me get my mind in order and I feel like I can try again. It’s my second home.

Takemichi

Now, at the age of 26, I'm an assistant director, working towards my dream of becoming a film director. Every day I do chores. Hina makes me box lunch every day. Every morning she sends me off with a "good luck" message. When I come home depressed, she joins me for evening drink and listens to me complain. I'm a lucky man.

Chifuyu

Baji and kazutora who don’t have much money always come to my house for dinner after work. It's almost like a freeloader behavior. But I can't ignore them because one of the reasons is that I don't give them much pay.

When I cooked for the first time, I was so frustrated they said it didn’t have much taste and it burnt, so I bought a lot of recipe books. Now my cooking skills are at a professional level. These days I look forward to when they come to my house.

Mitsuya

As a fashion designer, I launched the brand 'Mitsuya Takashi.' Among my assistants is Yasuda, who was vice president of the handicraft club in junior high school. Surprisingly Yasuda married Peh-yan, with whom she had been dogging him, last year. I often listen to her complaints after work. He still clings to Pah-chin even though they are married.

Mr. and Mrs. Hanagaki live downstairs from where Emma and I live. Takemichi cries to me, "Emma is at our house every day, and even though we are newlyweds, we can't be alone with Hina." Today, the four of us ate nabe together again.
