i also don't see how ice ado could ever have been released in contemporary times, first cause i'm pretty sure sayo would alt everything if that specific something she wanted to portray was blocked (and it was likely related to gender issues), second because the protagonist was a russian living in russia and russia started a war after the movie went into production, plus had scandals in ice skating specifically so, as a country, has been most boycotted by the target audience of yuri on ice.

#i am not saying ice ado should have been boycotted on that basis #it was just an unfortunate circumstance out of the creators control and which initiated afterwards #yoi was actually pretty much anti-war and positive towards foreign cultures #i'm saying y'all would have made so much discourse over it that nobody would have watched it

my thoughts on the matter as a huge yuri on ice fan is that it's not a big tragedy the movie was cancelled, but rather a waste of resources. yoi was a completed story, a full piece of art, it did not NEED new material. it was also so well done that there was a serious risk that new material would lower the quality of the franchise (à la jurassic park). there are two downsides however: 1) the aforementioned waste of resources on what is likely a project on a decent state of advancement, 2) the unfortunate fact that the franchise is not getting exposure any longer, despite being one of the best out there

#never real in the sense that was never meant to be canon #i think we were intentionally mislead for marketing #but the creators didn't understand why what they were doing was bad because they are old and didn't think younger people would have hope #they possibly were even thinking they were giving us something #but i still think it was the most sensible thing to hope that it would happen and push for it in case the creators were undecided #because 1) otherwise the plot didn't make sense and in fact at the end it didn't and #2) queer people have a right to hope and demand to be treated as every other audience #you can't just expect queer people to accept queerbaiting passively

i kid you not, but since i was a child, i was in a one-man fandom for the bible movie esther 1999. it's one of my favourite things ever. also i have nobody to share it with and i feel like the only person in this world who could understand me was the nun who showed us this movie in school after i was already a big fan. i remember she was surprised when i already knew the word 'edict' as if i hadn't already watched the movie at least ten times

I was literally blown away by Tears of the Kingdom. I've literally never had this feeling for a game since Ocarina of Time. It definitely had exceeded my expectations. Easily Game of the Year. I cannot wait for the Future of Zelda!
