Yo I feel like the idea that the only historical women who counted are the ones who defied society and took on the traditionally male roles is… not actually that feminist. It IS important that women throughout history were warriors and strategists and politicians and businesswomen, but so many of us were “lowly” weavers and bakers and wives and mothers and I feel like dismissing THOSE roles dismisses so many of our mothers and grandmothers and great-grandmothers and the shit they did to support our civilization with so little thanks or recognition.

i don’t know how to tell people that deriving pleasure - sexual pleasure included! - from art* is good actually, and that creating specific kind of art “just” because you find it hot or whatever is just as good a reason as any, and you don’t actually need some “deep and meaningful” reason to create art about things. pleasure - sexual pleasure included - is not the devil, it is not Bad and shameful, and it’s not any less valid of a reason to create something than because you want to, idk, explore the depths of the human consciousness or something

It begins with Toph approaching Zuko, who is sitting near a campfire. “You have a scar?” she asks. Zuko replies,  "Oh! Uh, yeah… You didn’t…?“ Toph cuts him off and says, “Came up in passing with the other guys.” Toph casually makes herself a seat out of rock and sits down next to him. “Must be pretty badass if everyone assumes I know it’s there, too,” she continues. Zuko looks aside awkwardly and says, “… It’s on my face.” “Ah.” Toph replies.

Zuko says, “Maybe you could… feel it?” “Huh?” says Toph. “I guess, if I concentrate hard enough.” Zuko reaches for Toph’s hand. “Uhm, just with your hand, if you want,” he says. “I don’t think I can describe it.” “… Gotcha. Guide my hand then, boss,” Toph says. Zuko does so, and there’s a pause as Toph touches his scar. The fire reflects in her eyes.

As Toph pulls her hand away, Zuko says, “…. You know, my left eye is almost blind, too.” “Seriously?!” Toph exclaims. “Why aren’t we a tag team yet?! The blind bandit and the half-blind dweeb!” “Come on…!” Zuko moans. End ID]

i’ve had this comic sketched out for months but only decided to finish it now, it’s based on something i drew a couple years back of toph and zuko….don’t think too hard on when or how this takes place because i don’t really know either! it’s just a concept i’ve always wanted to draw

I have a lot of feelings about the rise of he would not fucking say that attitudes in fandom spaces and the paralysing effect it can have on creators. As a writer i think it’s important to just write what feels true to you and not what you think others will “approve” of. Like even as a reader i have enjoyed a variety of different characterisations that all work because the writer makes them work for a particular story. And a fic that’s written out of character to some will be in character to others. Writing fic is not your job you’re not being paid it’s your hobby please. Make them as close to canon as possible. Make them completely different. Who cares! Have fun! Have so much fun! There is an audience for every kind of fic and every kind of character interpretation i promise

If you could go back to school would you? as in graduating in different area? maybe in the future, i've always planned to become a historian as well, but i graduated recenty so it'll have to wait a while

can you parallel park? i can't drive

a job you had that would surprise people? i'm pretty much working at my first job

do you think aliens are real? yes, but i think they're far away enough that we'll ever meet them

can you drive a manual car? no, i can't drive any car

tattoos? not yet, but i want some, i just haven't figured out what it should be aside from paying homage to loved ones

favourite colour? it really depends if we're talking about clothes, hair or art, but i guess rust orange is a color i really vibe with in most things

favourite type of music? anything on the slower, indie(-ish) side, but i listen to everything. Right now i'm really into 70s brazilian music

do you like puzzles? yes, but its been years since i had one

any phobias? yes, it's a bug and i won't say which bug but i've been scared of it since i was a child. I'm a little hypervigilant of my surroundings because of it

coffee or tea? i assume this refers to plain pure coffee, so tea! mate ice tea specifically, but when it's cold i enjoy some mint, chamomile, anise or lemongrass tea (but i don't really like to drink warm beverages unless weather is cold and more often than not it's not cold at all, so i mostly drink ice tea and juice and coconut water)
