So naturally I brought this question to my mother, who instantly found archived newspaper articles that mention importing killarney hooks in 1916 and 1921.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That woman would've been an amazing librarian I swear!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Wanted to post an interesting crochet hook I found in my grandma's supplies, it's particularly ornate and tarnishes with use (it *is* my favorite hook so I use it a lot)
Makers mark appears to be Killarney, but I'm struggling to find any information.
If it weren't magnetic I'd suspect it's silver!

Fountain pen has been retrieved! He got it stuck under the oven, little bastard. Look at him, not an ounce of remorse in his little face.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My fountain pen was supposed to be in this picture but it's mysteriously absconded (I suspect the cat, Gnocchi is a MENACE sometimes)
I'd seen that "your ancestors would be proud of you" post and I felt as though this encapsulated that sentiment. I'm spending my hours baking a pear cobbler to bring to book club tonight, writing a novella, crocheting a lovely floral doily, and reading Hunger Pangs (for aforementioned book club). Machines was my laundry and dishes, and I have ample light to write in the night when inspiration strikes me. I hope they're proud of me, and my work.

It feels nice to be writing again, hopefully I can stick with this one. Crocheting has been keeping me busy, but hopefully I'm over my writer's block

Figured I should give some updates about what I've been up to, but Crazy Cormorant Creations work has been busy for a couple months now!
As you can see up top I've moved into thread weight for doilies! I'm working on a really gorgeous green floral one rn that's a bit bigger than expected. (And will definitely need a bit of blocking)
Tumblr media
I'm probably not going to make any more doilies in a heavier yarn than thread weight, but I have quite a few already done than pictured. I will probably keep making placemats in the heavier weight yarn though, they feel good with the heft to them. (I'll take nice photos of each individual piece whenever i get around to starting the business insta)
Tumblr media
The daisy granny squares are going to be a blanket, it's going to be a housewarming gift for one of the book club gals! I'm at 41 squares, it's looking like I'll need ~80 to hit the size I want.
Tumblr media
I finished up the blitzcrank hat pattern last night, the honeybee had bought it awhile back but had given up bc it wasn't coming out right and he was still a novice. Now that I've done one I feel confident rewriting the pattern in a way he'll understand better, and maybe making some more!
Tumblr media
I might include this one in the housewarming gift with the blanket, one of the first things I learned about her now husband was that he's a blitzcrank main 😄
Last project I started earlier is going to be a cloche hat!
Tumblr media
I know hats will probably sell better, but my passion really lies in the lacy doilies :p I'll update further as I explore bobbin lace and tatting, and a bit of amigurumi (as much as I dislike the look of the finished projects everyone I know is asking me to try it out lol)

Sorry for being rather inactive, I’ve been going through some stuff. I’ve got the next chapter of Paralyzer about ready to post, as well as the first chapter of Handyman, however I’m a dumbass and I left my external harddrive and rough draft binder at home before I went on a trip that ended up being much longer than planned.
When I get home in about a week I should be able to get those two up and get started on editing a few more things (like the next two chapters of handyman, the last chapter of paralyzer, and We are the Kids since that’s an “easy” one-chapter thing to get the pre-canon stuff caught up to COaP)

Chapter 2 (potion) is up to 1,731 words as of last night
Paralyzer chapter 1 (Rose) clocks in at 4741 words, and has been sent to my beta reader. He is however, currently Very drunk, so I expect a couple days turnover for this one even though it's short.
Paralyzer chapter 2 (potion) is at 500 words, and counting.

Guess who started a draft for a new unrelated oneshot... it's me. Maybe I'll tie it into one of the writetober 2020 ones, or Like Lovers Do... but wherever it goes I've got 6 pages of it?

Paralyzed chapter 1: rose progress: 873 words.
This little three chapter fill-in-the-blanks of RiR fic is just so fun, I cant wait to finished editing, but I get to write from some perspectives that wouldn't have been super relevant to the main plot of RiR, but are important for fleshing out the plotline from here on out/setting up for LLD/HU/DitD (aka all my longer post canon works)

Progress report
The Passenger (Spirit) 2nd draft has been typed up to 4275 words. Unfortunately my beta reader is very sleepy, so I'll have him read it through tomorrow.
If all goes well I should be able to get this posted tomorrow and then have time to work on the second draft of one of the Paralyzer chapters, so I can work on my other longer post-RiR works, as I need the context of the three chapters in Paralyzer (which each happen during RiR) for the next couple of things at that point in the timeline.

As the dust settles after Diavolo’s defeat, Mista is left to pick up the pieces of his life. At least he still has Giorno and Trish to rely on.
Excerpt:
He was usually a lot better at this, but he felt like he was floating through his errands. It wasn’t even dreamlike; his dreams were usually so vivid and engaging. Everything around him seemed subdued, and he felt like he was just steering himself through the motions rather than actively doing things.
“Sure thing. Your eyes are very red, are you alright?”
Mista was too tired to be offended or angry at the comment.
“I lost a couple of family friends today,” he said, handing her the cash.
“I know how that is. You’ll feel better with some good food in you. Here’s your change, it’ll be out in a few minutes.” She said with a firm nod, before closing the register and disappearing into the back with a slip of paper.
Mista moved his bags to a table and sat down. He slumped forward, resting his head in his hands. He was too worn out to try and unpack that conversation. Physically and emotionally, he wasn’t sure if he even had the energy to cry anymore.

Just had an idea for A Girl in Trouble (Is a Temporary Thing) aka the trisheila fairytale AU, and I think i might be able to actually start it working off that?
Chapter 3 of A Quarter Past Midnight is in its 2nd draft, one more round of editing and I'll be good to go, I've just been too busy with school for the editing process...

Chapter 2 We Keep on Running (Ice) Summary:
The chaos of the fight against White Album has just wound down, giving Giorno time to process everything that has just happened. But with such a tight timeframe to get to the Boss, he can’t really justify relaxing enough to spend time understanding his feelings. Things keep on coming, and they don’t have time to stop running long enough to rest at the moment.
Excerpt:
It’d been a long morning for the both of them. While Mista hadn’t been the one who’d driven through the early hours of the night, he’d been alert on watch, and he’d talked to Giorno to keep him from nodding off behind the wheel. Aside from that, Giorno knew how tiring it was to heal. His own arm was still healing, his sleeve torn where his flesh had been mangled. At least Mista wasn’t trying to wander around, the moment’s rest would give his wounds some time to finish closing up.
He glanced up to watch as the sunlight started to peek over the top of a building, illuminating Mista’s face in gentle golden light. His brow was sweaty, glittering in the sun. The blood on his skin shone gruesomely crimson in splattered patches that had yet to dry.
The sight unsettled him, making something in his stomach churn. The realization hit him, of just how concerned about Mista he was, and the strength of the feeling caught him off guard. Rationally, he knew Mista would be fine, as he’d just healed him personally. But he couldn’t seem to shake the feeling with logic alone.
With all that had happened in the last two days, it wouldn’t be helpful for him to get overly attached. It would be altogether too easy for Mista to die during their confrontation with the boss, however that went down, given Mista’s propensity for being a bullet sponge.
Despite knowing all of that, he couldn’t help but hope that Mista would survive. They’d been an effective team so far, and it’d been a pleasant surprise that Mista had saved him after his miscalculation in the canal. That display of dedication and loyalty, as undeserving of it as Giorno was, had saved his life.

Joining the mafia meant some unexpected new occurrences, this Giorno had known and anticipated. He hadn’t anticipated someone trying to be his friend, however, and it’s throwing him off how genuinely friendly Mista is acting. Giorno doesn’t wear his heart on his sleeve, far from it and for good reason, but Mista seems to have a way of getting him to relax and let down his walls. Giorno isn’t quite sure how he should react, and he’s not so sure anymore that trusting people is dangerous. Mista isn’t quite sure what it is about Giorno that he finds so interesting, but things tend to work out when he follows his gut, and his gut is telling him that Giorno needs a friend. So that’s what he’s going to do, try his darndest to be Giorno’s friend, or at least get him to open up a little bit. Building trust is something that takes time, he knows, and he’s willing to put in that effort. Especially if the rest of his team is going to keep on being prickly assholes who’re still stuck in the hazing phase.
Excerpt from chapter 1 It’s a Quarter Past Twelve:
Giorno’s expression stayed neutral, but Mista thought he saw the corner of his mouth twitch upward. He was definitely good at hiding his feelings.
“You’re very observant, Mista.”
“I try to be,” he responded with a shrug, “I kind of have to be. It’s a weird world, and if I hadn’t kept a close eye out, I wouldn’t have survived this long.”
“You’re a very interesting person.”
“I don’t think so, I’m kinda dumb honestly, and I try to keep things simple. I try not to stress too hard about overthinking things. Nothing too interesting going on up here,” He said, patting his head for emphasis.
“Hmm,” Giorno hummed, “I think that’s an interesting viewpoint. Trying not to be interesting just makes you more curious of a person. Though I definitely don’t think you’re dumb, Mista.”
Mista huffed a laugh, shaking his head.
“Whatever floats your boat, dude. You can just call me Guido if you want, even if none of the others do. It’s weird, we only really call Nara by his first name. And you too, I guess.”
“I’ll keep that in mind, though it’d probably be better to follow tradition and fit in.”
“If you want. They’ll get used to you soon enough.”
“Hopefully,” Giorno said with a sigh. “You all seem very tight-knit, with your nicknames and all that.”
