i just remembered a story my first plug told me. she's butch and gets mistaken for a man a lot. one time she was walking home when a guy pulled a knife on her and asked for everything in her pockets. panicking, she said "ok" and the guy hearing her voice was like "oh shit, are you a girl?" and she was like "yeah" and he put the knife away and said something like "sorry. i can't do this to a woman" and left. feminist ally.

slapping modeling clay around blindly without thought or purpose, i look down and find a perfectly sculpted replica of myself seated at a table with a lump of modeling clay before me, similarly shaped into a still smaller instance of the same scene. and i am afraid to look up

It’s funny to me that I’ve met people named Grace, Faith, Patience and Chastity. It is so funny that Puritan names have survived so long and are still so popular if you take a step back and think about it. She’s getting Starbucks today and accusing a townsperson of witchcraft tomorrow.

Here’s my piece for Fire Nation @recovery-zine! It's been held back for quite a while and I'm excited to finally reveal it ❤️
The inspiration comes from the Lantern Festival in China's Anhui Province and the performance with those fish lanterns at night is really fantastic!

Pride and Prejudice is actually hilarious cause Elizabeth goes to the Netherfield Ball with the purpose of finding out what Darcy's closest friends think about Wickham, and when they all tell her Darcy is a really nice guy and Wickham is a liar she literally goes "Mr. Darcy has somehow managed to trick all of his closest friends into thinking he's a good person but I know something about him that they don't (that he sucks)"

"Japanese media is just so perverted towards teenagers :/" there's an entire genre of american tv dramas where teenagers having sex will be a major focus. Dan Schneider exists. there was a massive community of people in the 00s who had a countdown to Emma Watson turning 18 so it would be "okay" to sexualize her. what makes you think this is a problem with Japan specifically. why are you singling out Japanese media here?

one thing abt certain regimes (including israeli and egyptian ones) is that they have extremely sadistic policies towards the people they disappear. like you might think that being well-known protects you but in some cases regimes will imprison someone for longer, out of stubbornness or to make a point or example out of them, if there is an uproar about their disappearance. israel in particular does this. a lot of families will keep their children kidnapped in israeli prisons under wraps because speaking about them puts them at increased risk. egypt is more unpredictable. sometimes it helps, particularly if high-profile organizations and people intervene, but even when it does it takes a few years. at most it might help guarantee this person won't be killed in prison.
being 'disappeared' is also different to being imprisoned. people who are disappeared are arrested without warrant or warning and kept in administrative detention (for months or years) without charges. they can be kidnapped by police or plainclothes government operatives from their homes or from the streets. they may not be heard from for weeks until their family is told they are in a police station holding cell. it is extremely common practice across the world. i recommend reading the graphic novel zahra's paradise for a very chilling, intimate look at what being disappeared is like. it takes place in iran but it is applicable to many other countries.

kinda sick of all those posts that are like "my ancestors were surviving starvation and the plague meanwhile i get nervous ordering food at restaurants". as if jauffrey the woodworker didn't fumble his conversation with the fine maiden running the fruit stand and then tripped on a pebble as he left in a hurry

Demonstrators and artists have taken the steps of the met museum unfurling an ENORMOUS (30 x 50 foot) quilt created by artists around the world in solidarity with Palestine.
Tumblr media
The quilt was collectively created by 64 artists from around the world and shipped to New York City.
They're demanding the met museum:
(1) cut ties with board members profiting from Israeli bombardment + occupation of Palestine
(2) support an immediate + permanent ceasefire
(3) aid the preservation of Palestinian cultural heritage sites being destroyed by Israel
Tumblr media
In addition to the quilt, demonstrators reclaimed and redistributed Met flyers, stickered with movement messaging and demands.

UPDATE: Frozen Chicken for Ramadan!
Hussam managed to secure and buy 100 frozen 1.3kg chicken to the camps on his land and will work on another chicken run for the next camp! This is great news because people are lacking a lot of nutrients and protein so these will help them get a bit of their energy back!
Also, food cans are always available to everyone who needs them. People come to request food cans of meat and other things. But Hussam's team managed to distribute 1000 cans 2 days ago.
And! Diapers when available are also purchased and distributed on the spot to those who needs them.
Thank you so much for everyone who donates and spreads the word. You have no idea how much you're helping Palestinians right now!!
