hey!! I lovedddd Ella Enchanted as a kid but i haven’t read it since I was 13- do you think it’s still enjoyable as an adult? I’m sometimes hesitant to reread beloved books just in case I don’t like them as much an ruin the memory ahah
oh absolutely! for me personally, it has been so enjoyable to explore my childhood favorite. i think it gives me a larger appreciation of myself and my taste and also helps me connect with my younger self and develop another relationship with the text in addition to my old relationship.
ella enchanted is special even here, i read it 3 times in like 7 months last year and was able to articulate why i loved it as a kid and love it all over again as an adult. my mom read it for the first time as an adult and stil loves it to this day, so even without nostalgia, it stands on its own

every time someone says "movie" in the tags, i die a little. like yeah its a good time but it did not have the same message as the book
was thinking about ella enchanted again and how the message to kids is to encourage them to fight for automy in their lives and how they can have more control through creativity and it is always worth fighting for and how the message to adults is hey, remember how kids have very little autonomy and control in their lives, and stop trying to control their every momemt of every day!!!

How many books in your possession are actually books that you never returned? To libraries, or people (alive or dead), or institutions, or anything else.

april fools day is actually the most sensible day of the year because it's the only day on which people will read something on the internet and stop for a second to consider whether or not it's actually true

thank god for you, fellow former 11 year old freak obsessed with daine and numair. my copy of the book was creased to open to their first romantic scene. grappling with that as an adult was sure interesting, and yet i love tamora pierce still
proof I was not immune to wizards from a very formative age, honestly (and neither is Tamora, really, if you count how many times she describes Numair's lovely long hair).
To be honest, while I get that the romance is problematic and the age gap is :I .... Trickster's Choice is literally right there. Of all the things Tamora Pierce could get cancelled for, it's not top of the list. As least she lampshades it lmao.

The Saint Martin's Press boycott is ongoing.
I’ve been seeing a lot of people discrediting it by saying it will harm the authors, despite it being made clear that it is a MARKETING boycott - you can still buy and read the books! Just don’t post about them. Finding the publisher of a book is easy too, hence these graphics I made!
You can find these graphics to download/share and more info about the boycott here.
