Whoops. Someone got their fingers cut off in Lose You to Find Me and I had a bit of a freak out, so I guess I'm done with that one.

Tommy reminiscing about when his mom was out of town and Brad came over for a hookup and Tommy thought he'd leave right after, but Brad spent the entire day with him. That is the behavior of someone who wants more from the relationship.
Reading Lose You to Find Me and it's cute so far, but I find myself actually rooting for Tommy to wind up with his closeted hookup partner rather than the other guy on the cover.

On the other hand, I thought Gabe not remembering Tommy would lead to something interesting and it turned out to be kind of a boring explanation, so I could be wrong thinking any of this is going anywhere.

I'm only 1/3 of the way through so there's still a lot that could happen, but...
Brad has been trying to talk to Tommy about something. Maybe he wants to be more than a hookup? Whatever it is, I'm intrigued. And Gabe has a boyfriend anyway. So far there's nothing that makes me want Gabe to break up with his boyfriend to get with Tommy. I mean, Gabe's favorite movie is about two love interests who are already seeing other people not ending up together. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that could be foreshadowing. Also, "lose you" is even in the book title!

So I read the Oxherd Boy and it feels almost exactly like reading The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and the Horse except I didn't enjoy it quite as much and I'm having trouble putting my finger on why.
All I can say is that while I was reading it, I was having trouble discerning which short quotes went together and which were starting a different section.
That's not to say it's bad. The art is absolutely gorgeous and the quotes are nice.

Maybe it improves in the last 80 pages, but Skater Boy has lost my attention completely, which is extra disappointing since it was so good at the beginning.

Does anyone else feel that sometimes a books emotional arc just feels unearned and it pulls you out of the story?

Ok, I just skimmed it a bit after that, but then stopped when the other main character was going to sexually assault the first in revenge and only decided against because he couldn't get it up.
Then I went and read the end out of curiosity and I'm glad I stopped reading.
Ok, it's probably my own fault for reading a book literally titled Assassin, but when you describe your main character as a cinnamon roll, I don't expect him to repeatedly and violently attack the man he just made love to.

I like the concept of the whole blind date with a book thing, but I can never do it because I'm just so picky about what I read.

Is Jonathan Swift no longer relevant in today's society or am I just too ADHD for Gulliver's Travels?

So reading Total Creative Control for the second time, knowing that both characters subconsciously view Sky as Lewis and Faolan as Aaron, really explains their weirdly intense reactions to discussions about Sky and Faolan's relationship.
Like Lewis is always adamant that Sky and Faolan are platonic because he's afraid of his relationship with Aaron changing. Meanwhile Aaron sees them as romantic because he's still hoping that he could be with Lewis.
And the making Faolan straight thing! They're basically erasing a huge portion of Aaron's identity. Lewis, backed into a corner, just says "fine, I'll make another Aaron," but Aaron just sees himself being erased.
