You got so much sense, but
never make much sense
Tired of pretending you do
All of your words,
so well put together, but
Your mood changes like the weather
Was so caught up in loving you,
I forgot
To love myself
by God, I’m
Gonna give myself
all the love I gave you
Tenderness and patience too
‘Cause I mean more to me
than you ever will

Love does not always beget love
A vile truth but true nonetheless
And love met with infatuation
Is love wasted

I gave my final notice, I left you with the sparkling jewels
I ran towards the Pacific Ocean, to a paradise fit for fools
I ended up in a town I’ve never heard of,
Met the locals and fell in love
With the hazy summers that never soaked me up
I danced ‘til I was dizzy, laughed until I ached
Drank until I made a big mistake
I felt so free
In the paradise fit for fools by the sea

Dreamin’ bad dreams, seein’ bad things
Killin’ myself to get to you
Goin’ off far, takin’ it all too far
Riddin’ myself of all to do with you
Singin’ those blues, gettin’ the right pair of shoes
To walk away from you one more time
Got my pen, my record player’s still spinnin’
Careful not to leave anything behind
‘Cause I need you to know what’s goin’ on
Baby, I’m gone
Got my pad, the words to our song
Still close to my heart but the door’s closer
‘Cause I need you to know what’s goin’ on
Baby, I’m gone
 And you’ll never find me
‘Cause I crossed the Mississippi, headed West
‘Til I met the coast of a small California town you’ve never heard of
Nobody knows me here, and I feel free
It’s a dream, no more nightmares for me
Dreamin’ good dreams, seein’ good things
Killin’ who I was with you
Parked the car, drove so far
Rid myself of all to do with you
Singin’ jazz, gettin’ my joggin’ shoes
To walk towards the sun in the sky
Got my pen, my record player, I’m grinnin’
Careful not to leave any prayers behind
‘Cause I need you to know what’s goin’ on
Baby, I’m gone
 And you can find me
If you cross the Mississippi, head East
‘Til you see the grittiest city you’ve ever seen
Nobody knows me here, and I feel alone
It’s a nightmare, no more dreams for me
Baby, I’m home
Baby, I’m home

What whistle do I use to call you home?
How long have you been all on your own?
Will you stay the course, or will you roam?
Never knew you were alone.
Never knew.
If I could escape, where do you think I'd go?
Whenever I escape, where do you think I go?
Maybe to a world not in flames.
But then again, fire is all I know.
Fire is all I know.
It's just what feels right.
Kinda need somethin' to yearn.
Feelin' like I'll ignite.
Flames in me startin' to burn.
So hot that they turn blue.
Kinda like me when I lost you.
Tears fallin' down but head in the sky.
This is what it feels like to die.
This is what it feels like
This is what it feels like
This is what it feels like
To die.

A broken man on the edge of sanity, who desired nothing but the ocean, created a wind of his own to get there;
he stood in the waves that brought his ancestors to shore and finally understood the power of self determination.
They tried to extinguish the fire in his soul as they did to his forefathers several generations before.
But their fire was fueled by nonperishable love.

Beautiful boys come from beautiful places
Am I not beautiful 'cause my town is full of trash?
Then, burn it to the ground and feed me to the flames

Love is honeydew melon.
Something sweeter than cane,
Yet repulsive on my tongue.
Still, I crave it in the summer months.

Stark mad as hell-
Aren't you?
Don't you feel like raising hell?
I've got this fever
This raging fever
That won't dissipate
I've got this fever,
This awful fever
That's hot right
out of the gate
What vexes me
Is on par with evil
And it caresses me
'Til I'm weak and feeble
Can hear the storm rollin' in
Stark mad 'cause the hail's hittin' my window
This fever's white hot!
Stick around to tell the tale
In case my poor heart stops. . .

I was born naked and alone
Like all humans without a twin.
I filled an entire womb;
Catered to by a woman's body.
I was the center of someone's universe
And I remember none of it.

Nobody knows how to hold a conversation
All they wanna do is take off their clothes
Instead of touching me,
They just wanna touch me (booo!)
So I don't hold back, I take control
I am just a boy with good intentions
But I feel like the world has turned me out
So I take off my clothes and fuck like it's my mission
Then I show him the way out
I learned to be reciprocal
This ain't a social call
After all, we're here to fuck
Not fall in love
I'm done with this shit

I’m alive
But do not lie
When I say
I am dead
On the inside;
Just look
Into my eyes
And you’ll see
That I’m gone.

In my mind, I believed that we could mend each other’s souls. I thought that we could love past our trauma and overcome anything. I thought I could love you past your trauma and help you overcome anything. You were like shattered porcelain, I saw the cracks. I still pieced you together like a jigsaw puzzle. I didn’t realize that I was missing the glue that held you in place. Every time the earth shook, you fell apart. Your tears became mine, but I loved you, so, I didn’t mind. You expected me to run because you were afraid—afraid of being more than I could handle. I didn’t run. I planted my feet firmly into the ground and weathered the tide. You were sinking, and I was fine with sinking too.

Sleep deprivation, here;
Little relief, I fear.
Turn the volume up
On the TV set-
White noise is all I hear.
White noise is all I hear;
Can’t make out what they’re sayin’.
White noise is all I hear;
Can’t tell if they’re sinnin’ or prayin’.
Suicide by hanging here;
Cry at the sun as she rises
From the depths of my despair
Don’t draw the shades-
Ain’t no sunlight welcomed here.
White noise is all I hear;
Can’t make out what they’re sayin’.
White noise is all I hear;
Can’t tell if they’re sinnin’ or prayin’.
Am I sinnin’ or prayin’?
Am I sinnin’ or prayin’?

The Final Frame
Beautiful September.
‘Cept I done lost my baby.
He went and found a new man
And his man is green like the trees.
September, glad to see ya.
‘Cept I done lost my baby
To newer, better, shinier things;
To a man with a dick like gold.
Glad to feel the breeze of September.
‘Cept my blood is boilin’
‘Cause I done lost my baby
To a man who never folds.
September, the final frame.
Glad to see the end is near.
‘Cept I done lost my baby
To the man he loves so dear.
September, September.
Ain’t it queer
How you arrive like heaven
‘Cept the devil is near.
Already September,
Glad the end is here.
‘Cept I done lost my baby
To a man without fear.
Glad to feel the breeze of September,
A reminder that Autumn is near.
‘Cept I done lost my baby
And the cold won’t keep him here.

Icarus
I said, "When I sort it out,
I'll tell you what it's all about."
But I think all you heard
Was a poet lost for words.
You say I'm changing like the seasons,
Cold when you could use some sun.
If I were like the seagulls-
If I were like the seagulls-
If I were like the seagulls-
I'd leave everyone.
But I know I'd return,
I would crash and burn
With the scars of torched wings on my back.
He tried to tell me that
Wings made of wax
Melt in the sun.
But I never listen to anyone...

dusk to dawn.
they circle the sky ‘round
to and fro gathering little things
of no importance to me
twigs and moss along the riverbank. . .
worms burrowing in mud akin to clay. . .
peace being the breeze underneath
their soaring wings. . .
ethereal screens of blue surrounding them. . .
warmth of being that much closer to the sun. . .
perched on some willow as dusk nears
singing the world to sleep
lullaby
sweet lullaby. . .
and calm is the earth veiled in black until
alas the first ray of sunlight penetrates the west
morning cry is now the name of their song
they rush like a stream being blown by giants
into the air above fields of green. . .
