The more despair I endure in life, the more I love Frodo. I'm just. I'm so glad that Tolkien wrote him like that. He was a hero and it broke him. He was given too much to carry. The circumstances were dire, everyone was doing the best they could, and Frodo tried so hard, for such a good cause, and he...broke. And the narrative has pity for him, the characters show him kindness. Even after victory, his hurts did not heal, and it isn't considered his fault. He must go to the undying lands, to seek out peace there. In universe, he is forgiven for being human - don't be pedantic - and his great torment is recognized. He fell. He could not have done it alone. He is still a hero.
And, I think that's important.

The biggest literary flex was when Elizabeth rejected Mr. Collins’ proposal and everyone thought she was crazy since she couldn’t possibly get such a good opportunity ever again and then she married one of Britain’s most eligible bachelors in the best “surprise, bitches!” move ever

Random though on a lazy Sunday: names in fantasy (in fiction really, but let's stick to fantasy for a sec).
Not to be semplicistic, cause I actually wrote my graduation dissertation on names in fiction, and I know it's an extensive subject. But...
We live in a world where we are overexposed to English language, even us non-native speakers tend to use English as a Lingua Franca (let's not open the ELF topic).
A lot of names in fantasy settings refer back to Anglo-Saxon, Norse, German or Celtic sounds as stories and settings are largly based on that lore. By now, it's something we are kind of used to and we come to expect it (honourable mention to vampire Bill, best stunt ever for reverse climax, Charlaine).
Then you have the Witcher, where you have this amazig Elven mage, this beautiful and powerful woman, and you expect some incredibly made up name and people around her go like: "Francesca!"
And I'm like *confused in Italian*

But also *moved in Italian*

Slightly different, but on the same line, I'd suggest Tweet Cute by Emma Lord.
Read it almost in one sitting and it cured me from a reading slump last year.

The first movie I remember seeing in theatre was Quest for Camelot (that says a lot about my age 😱).
My dad used to to take me to the movies to have some time just for us. Fun thing is that I was actually so little that I wasn't supposed to remember it apparently, but I spent years retelling the story of this movie I remembered seeing. My dad didn't remember the story so everyone was a bit weirded out.
Just for context, I was raised without TV and computers weren't a thing for some time, and even when they became relevant in other people's lives, we didn't have one. (It was a choice our parents did and honestly I'm still grateful for that at this day)
Fast forward more than ten years and we finally get internet and a PC to do homework. I spent and entire day searching for that movie just from the plot and what I remembered the pictures looked like.
In the end I found it and I was like: "You see, I'm not crazy, it exists". And everyone was weirded out because they had stopped thinking about that years before.
And to me, that's the definition of living rent free in my head.
Thanks for listening to my TED talk!
what's the first movie you remember seeing in theaters? don't try and be all edgy and cool and say like tetsuo: the iron man. be honest.
Go!!

i highkey respect the fuck outta Derry Girls for giving us a cast of real, honest to God, true blue LOSERS. A lot of the time on teen shows (esp ones set in America) the kids will allegedly be "uncool crows" but they have like 2 different love interests vying for their affection, or they'll run for student council pres and be the underdog that wins bc everyone actually does secretly like them, or they have this whole other secret identity/superpower that gives them a higher sense of purpose outside of petty high school drama.
Not these 5 dumbasses though. Our ragtag group of feral misfits fail at pretty much everything they set out to do and in ways that highlight for every onlooker in Derry what incredible dumbasses they are, marinating in glaze of mediocrity and perpetual disappointment, and iT IS GLORIOUS

joey's line delivery with "don't fucking jaskier me. i'm talking to you, this is how it works." is just so. chefs kiss. the way he speeds through it like jaskier's summoned all of his courage for this one fucking phrase, like he's been chewing on it for so long that when the time finally comes it just escapes him all at once. the way he folds when geralt cuts him off, but by his expressions you can tell that he's disappointed in himself for doing it. joey batey sexy smart award 2022

I already feel pity to whoever Amazon will cast as any of the Finwean. Imagine playing a character who's basically described as "tall gorgeous pretty ethereal perfect in every way" and the fans don't think you're pretty enough 💀 i'd fucking cry 😭 don't even get me started with sauron this fandom would explode
