Hi Blue! I absolutely love your A Bug’s Life Blogs and I hope to see more coming soon! I also wanted to show you something I made for you! I hope you like it :3
Tumblr media
Aww, thank you! I love it!
Hopefully I'll be getting back into the swing of A Bug's Life. For now, I've been between my hyperfixation on UglyDolls and working on some original novels.
Thank you again for the picture!

It’s been a while ant new abl content to come?
I got this ask a while back and am starting to get around to answering them (including ones from my UglyDolls account)
The unfortunate answer is no. I don't really have any new content.
Short stories? Nuh-uh.
That book on Wattpad? Not exactly.
...Literally anything involving A Bugs Life?
...No.
It's not necessarily that I don't have ideas. I have tons that were written down a year ago during my fixation with the movie. The issue is that...well, it was a fixation. Most of my fixations (which, if you don't know, is when you get focused on one specific thing for a certain time) usually last around a year.
It's a vicious cycle that has left many stories unfinished, no matter how hard I try to keep myself fixated on one movie. And believe me, I try.
When I get a fixation, I only watch that movie. I only read stories from that fandom. I literally can't watch anything else because...my brain is just wired that way for some reason.
And it's confusing to hear that because people then think "oh, she doesn't like the movie anymore." No, I do, honest. It's just that after a year or so I've usually exhausted all my creative outlets for that fixation and my brain has to find something new in order to keep it occupied. I don't know why it does that, but here we are.
And usually, whatever my previous fixation was, I don't go back to it for a while. So, my next fixation (while still undeterminable) will not be A Bug's Life because that was my previous one before UglyDolls. And once I'm through with UglyDolls, I won't revisit it until years from now.
That's...the weird way my brain works.
So, sorry, but when I say I can't...I honestly don't have the train track in my brain to go down that fixation again.

Breathe
This had to be death. Tendrils of darkness envelop themselves round about her neck. She could hear everything and nothing at the same time. A chorus of silence rang in her antennae as the world around her went out of focus.
The only voice reaching her consciousness brought more turmoil than the darkness itself. It screamed at her. Somehow louder than the silence. It yelled to her that she was dying. That she had to survive, no matter what.
A sound of water...no...the wind. It was a hush. If the wind had a voice to speak with, she envisioned it sounding like this. It swept against the sides of her face, cautiously picking away at the onyx tendrils. Cool vapors filled her lungs and it was not until then she realized she had been deprived of air. Her chest heaved at the returning sensation of life.
Colors were the first thing to come back to her. Dull browns, greys, reds...colors her mind couldn't process just yet. The warm breeze still cupped her face as she opened her eyes. For a moment, she thought she was facing a mirror with the fearful expression gazing back at her. Reality reached her senses and she blinked up at Hopper, still racing to catch her breath.
"Shh," it was the wind, "you were having a panic attack, Princess." Hopper stroked her face. The warm breeze.
Atta closed her eyes again, swallowing, "Not again..."
"You need to talk to someone about this."
"I'm fi--"
"No, you're not." He let his hands fall to the side, still keeping an eye on her. "This is the third time I've heard you crying in your sleep. All the way from my room," he stressed the last part. "Princess, this is getting out of control."
Atta rubbed circles on the leaf blanket to distract herself, "I'll grow out of it. Thank you...again." She gave a small smile, expecting him to leave like he did the other nights.
But he didn't.
Hopper looked at the entrance, contemplating. "Come on," he stood up, reaching a hand out.
She studied it, "Where?" He simply nodded toward the entrance. With a sigh, she took his hand and followed him out. "Hopper, I have a lot to do tomorrow--"
"Sounds fun. Now come on," he led her down the tunnels. She watched the scenery change as they stepped out of the anthill. Stars illuminating the clearing. Hopper stopped just shy under the arching root. "Hold on."
"Wha--" she at least prided herself in not screaming as he pushed himself into the air. "Hopper! Y-Your wing isn't in!"
He landed on top of the root, setting her down gently, "I'm a grasshopper, Princess," he chuckled, "we don't need wings for everything."
It was probably meant to be a jab at her species, but she was distracted by the constellations above them. "Alright...so what's this for?" she gestured around her.
"Just breathe."
"I do that all the time."
"No, that's living."
Atta scoffed, watching him sit down and pat the spot beside him, "What's the difference?" she decided to oblige.
"You spend your whole life living for tomorrow," he stared up at the sky, "have you ever just lived in the moment?"
The Queen downcasted her gaze, not able to go back to a time when she desired to live in the moment. It didn't feel as if there was ever just a moment. It was all long, excruciatingly long days that blended into weeks and months and years. There were no pauses or breaks that allowed her to simply remember how alive she was. To...
Just breathe.
She had to force herself to relax, rolling her shoulders a bit. Her foot twitched back and forth anxiously. "You're trying too hard," Hopper snorted.
"Well, then how am I supposed to relax?" She glared.

I'm not dead!!!! 😃
But I've started college at Appalachian State University and it's going great so far. On my way to be an English major with a focus on Creative Writing and a minor in physics that I'll be transferring to NC State to work further on in two years.
That's the plan anyway...
BUT I was looking through my drafts on here and found this one out of 7... 😬
I'll write a part 2 to this but here's what I had left on.

I wonder what Hopper would think of caramel popcorn. Like, he finds a human fairground and manages to get his hands on some. I know most insects enjoy sweet food and all.
I'm gonna try and clear out these asks and drafts that I never finished XD oops...
But, Hopper LOVES caramel. I get a caramel and hazelnut iced latte from Dunkin' every now and then (every day) and he tried it and absolutely fell in love with it.
So much so that I came up with a new signature latte flavor at the restaurant I work at called the "Hopper" and it's got caramel, coconut, and hazelnut flavoring in it.
He hasn't tried caramel popcorn before though, so I'll give him that experience:
<><><><><><>
There was a special event the Circus Bugs gave news of to the colony. It was happening in the City during the summer. A "one-time-only" event, as Slim had put it.
They had quite the time dragging Hopper and Atta there. The former was just not fond of being around others and the latter was too fixated on her royal obligations. After a few twists and pulls--figuratively and literally--the gang managed to get both parties to attend the event.
The second they got there, Flik had rushed off with Molt in tow the second he saw the toothpick Ferris Wheel in the center. Bugs swung haphazardly in the water bottlecaps that served as the seats as the machine rotated on its axis.
The other Circus Bugs were performing for a large crowd and P.T. had not been lenient this time to allow them a day to enjoy the events with the gang, but Atta was learning to compensate without Gypsy or Rosie to have a girl's day with.
Hopper begrudgingly trudged behind her and Dot as they walked through the City. "How long are we gonna be here?"
"We just got here," Atta rolled her eyes. "C'mon, lighten up. I'd rather be with the girls so be grateful I'm not leaving you to stand alone somewhere."
The grasshopper huffed, giving a mocking bow, "I am forever in your debt, Your Majesty."
"Alright, then as a way to pay it off; pretend like you're having a good time."
Dot bounced up and down excitedly, "Atta! Atta! Atta! At--"
"What?" She quickly pushed the younger's head down so she'd stop jumping.
The girl pointed at one of the concession stands, "Can we try one of the human snacks? We never eat anything other than grain and fruit!" Her tone became a slight whine as she pulled on Atta's arm.
Atta sighed, "Fine, but don't tell mom I let you eat that stuff. I don't think any of the elders trust human food."
"Promise!" Quickly, she was gone and up on her tippy toes with the owner of the stand. The beetle handed her a strange piece of food. It looked yellow with a golden coat crystallized over it. She hurried back to them, her mouth full, "You gotta try it!"
"Manners," Atta warned.
The girl looked sheepish and swallowed, "Sorry. You guys have to try it! It's sweet and salty!"
"Didn't think those two things went together," Hopper wrinkled his nose.
The Queen couldn't help but comment as the opportunity presented itself, "Just like us," she sneered at him.
Hopper tauntingly grinned at her, "Obviously I'm the sweet one."
"You always have been a pain in my molar."
He opened his mouth to retort, but came up short, "That was kinda good, not gonna lie." He focused back on Dot as she pushed the morsel toward him, "Did he say what it was?"
"He said the humans called it ca-...carmamamel...popcorn?" She made a 'blah' sound, lolling her tongue out at the mispronunciation. "Something like that," she laughed.
Hopper cautiously took a bit from her, eyeing it (ha) before popping it in his mouth. Atta had a tiny piece in her hand too but waited to see if Hopper keeled over before trying it.
"Oh my gosh," his entire demeanor did a back-flip and he nudged Atta's shoulder, "this is amazing!"
"Really?" She looked at her own morsel and gingerly ate it. "Huh...not bad."
"Not bad?" Hopper looked affronted. "Sweetheart, I think I just died and went to Heaven. Is there more?"
Dot giggled, pointing to the stand, "He's got plenty."
Hopper took Atta by the wrist and hurried over to the stand. She blinked in surprise, "What are we doing?"
"I wanna get two without looking suspicious, so just pretend you're eating the other one."
<><><><>
Not gonna lie, I almost forgot how much I love writing for this fandom 😭 and this was really fun to write!
BTW, ya'll probably don't care about the movie "UglyDolls" but that's the new fandom I've become obsessed with. I have a WIP novel on Wattpad called "Backstitch" revolving around the movie if ya'll are interested.
ALSO ALSO, I am STILL UPDATING the Bugs Life novel. DO NOT PANIC (I don't know if ya'll really liked it or not, but I figured 200+ reads has to mean something, right?)
I'm reverting back to my old style of writing outlines because the new method I tried at the beginning of the novel isn't as efficient for me as my old style. So, now I'm going back and making outlines for the chapters, drafting, editing, reviewing, and the process takes at least a week to do for each chapter, so just bear with me.
Despite it being on Wattpad and for a down-the-drain fandom, I take my writing very seriously and want it to be the best I can do XD
HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY AS WELL

RU a hopper simp?
My first time posting in, what, a month? And this was not the question I expected to be answering as a temporary return XD
Um...I'm not sure what a simp is...?
I'm ~sheltered~
I googled it though and it said that it stands for Satellite Information Message Protocol, so, no, I'm pretty sure I'm not that.
Also, the urban dictionary definition of the word is a MAN/BOY who is infatuated with a girl he has no chance of being with.
I'm a female, hey~
I am aware I'm too real to be with Hopper. That's why OC's exist
So, no? I don't believe I am?
His personality is really sweet, which I know I'm in the minority for. But he feels more like that overprotective brother, really. Hence, why I write mostly for his and Flik's brotherly bond.
K, I've probably just answered to someone who intended to bully me or something but I suck at being mean to people so...here's your decent response. Have a great day!

(Totally not a wonderful excuse for me to post since I've been distracted with writing for another Fandom 😅)
Obviously, it's a tie between Hopper and Flik and here's why:
Hopper: Because he's my go-to support for when I'm feeling depressed or grieving over those close to me who've passed away. Him losing his mom in the movie have me the foundation to imagine him talking to me and this is normally how our conversations go;
Me: *crying* Does it ever get easier? Like, this pain...it'll go away right? One day?
Hopper: *sighing* No. I wanna tell you it does. Gosh, I wish it did, but it doesn't. If anything, it gets worse as you go on with life and realize all the things they're missing out on.
The rest is more emotional so I'll spare ya'll the waterworks 😭
Then there's Flik;
Really the main reason he comforts me is because he's like that innocent younger brother that you can vent to. And, in response, he'll simply hug you and not let go until both of ya'll are fast asleep. He's absolutely precious and doesn't step back when he doesn't know what to do. Despite not always understanding what I'm going through, he'll still talk to me and make lighthearted jokes just to see me smile.
*Me now realizing I wrote this with the impression that I can see them in real life*
We all have coping methods 😤 mine are just...unique.

love love LOVE when a character who was presumed dead (or maybe even had their death faked) reunites with their loved one and their loved one just hugs them and takes in the smell of their hair and the sound of their voice and all the things that they thought they would never be able to experience again

I read too much into things. But here we are 👇
Throughout the better portion of the movie Hopper has a tight hold on the ants. Even while away he dictates what they do, the time they do it in...every. Single. Aspect. Of their lives.
He's in control and that's exactly what he wants.
My thesis? The bird in the movie symbolizes things we can't control. Like death.
We see the theme coming up again and again in the movie:
Dot can't control her wings to fly.
Atta couldn't control the gaps in the lines.
Hopper couldn't control his mom dying.
Thumper was barely being controlled by the other grasshoppers.
Molt can't control losing his chitin (skin)
The Circus Bugs couldn't control the mistakes they made in the performance.
Flik lost control of the fake bird.
There are so many more examples that I can't list but just trust me on this one.
And by the end, all of the characters learned how to take back or gain that control.
But (this is what made me cry), Hopper never gets back control.
He's spent the entire movie micromanaging the ants and it's his fear that keeps him from just turning around and leaving the Island. He is afraid of not being in control of the situation. He has this desire, like all of us, to manage every aspect of the world around us.
And with the bird symbolizing things that we can't control, that fear most literally eats him alive.
Like I said, I read too much into things. But a friend and I were texting about Flik and Hopper and I was in the middle of typing out this long-winded text about how all the characters have flaws and that's when I typed out the phrase, "the fear of not being in control most literally eats him alive." And then I started crying 😭
But yeah, that's all I had to say.

A short excerpt I found on my phone that I never posted. I think it was supposed to connect with the "Danger" series 🤔
<><><><><>
Flik screamed in pain. His leg was completely covered in blood at this point from the wasp attack. Hopper managed to push himself onto his feet. "Aw, kid. They really did a number on you." Flik clenched his teeth to try and muffle his screaming.
"You're okay, just hang in there." It wasn't too far from the ant hill. The only risk were the wasps following them to the others. But it would have to be a risk to take. Flik would bleed out all too soon. Carefully, he scooped the ant into his arms.
The sound of wings buzzing pushed him forward. They knew where the two were. It was a game to them. If only Hopper could figure out how they managed to open up a new portal. It seemed that any major changes that occurred in this universe altered theirs in some way. The result was a swirling vortex that would lead them back to their own timeline.
With the gash in his own leg, even carrying something as light as Flik proved difficult. Every step sent a wave of strain on him. Luckily, the ant hill was in sight and most of the colony was out doing their regular duties.
The second he stepped into the clearing, one of the ants dropped their grain and ran toward the ant hill. "GRASSHOPPER! THEY'RE BACK! THEY'RE BACK!"
That was Hoppers first clue that this timeline was more in tune with their own. The question was, was the ant afraid because the offering wasn't finished...or because he thought they'd been defeated?
He had to give credit to the colony for flanking around them in just a few seconds. It left little to no room for Hopper to escape, unless he was still able to fly. In either case, escaping the ants wasn't his goal. The wasps however...
"What's going on? What do you mean grasshoppers?" A feminine voice drew closer to the center of the crowd. Atta was allowed space into the clearing to see Hopper and the wounded ant in his arms. "H-Hopper...but y-you're--"
His vision was blurring terribly bad. The headache made it nearly impossible to stay focused on her words. Nevertheless, he knew now that this timeline was either set months earlier to their own...
Or this was the timeline where he actually died.
One thing was for certain, there wasn't much time to ponder over details. Flik needed help and Dr Flora would be the ant to do so. "Where's Dr Flora?" He lowered his arms a bit to show her Fliks injuries. Hopefully, she would bypass any questions and focus on helping him.
She glanced at the tense figure, seeing the blood dripping down from his leg. "Wait..." her eyes traveled to Fliks face, recognizing it almost immediately. "But Flik, he's--" she began to point toward the hill.
"I don't have time to explain everything. Neither does he," Hopper nodded down to Flik. "I need Dr Flora immediately."
The ant in question made her way to the front of the crowd. Her eyes landed on Hopper first before they found Flik. If she was anything like the Flora of their universe, she'd overlook the impossibilities for the sake of helping someone in need. She took a step forward before Atta held a hand out in front of her. "This is a trap. There's no way that's Flik. He's been with me the whole time. And besides, you'd just let him die."
For crying out loud. The princess was just as stubborn and paranoid in this world too. No wonder things couldn't get done sometimes. She spent most of her time trying to foresee the loopholes of every situation. It took a lot of effort on his part to assuage her anxieties and teach her the old saying of, "cross that bridge when we get there."
If the Hopper of this universe was dead, there wouldn't be much of a change for the princess regarding her stresses. Unless someone else took it upon themselves to help her.
"I'm not sure how to tell you this, but we're not from this world. There was this...portal of some sort that brought us here. Things are different in our universe."
Everyone merely blinked. The explanation probably did more harm than good for their situation. Buzzing wings sounded closer by, meaning the chase was about about come to an end. "Please, we don't have time for this. There's a swarm of wasps that managed to pass through the portal, too, and you all are in danger."
The crowd murmured. Flik grunted and turned to look at Atta, "He's telling the truth, I swear. We're...we're not from this world."
Atta still looked hesitant, but Flora took this as her chance to rush up to the two. Despite the perplexity, she couldn't bare seeing anyone in pain. The princess attempted to stop her, but was held back by her mother.
Hopper forced himself to kneel down. His leg had been about to give out anyway. Flora got a good look at his wounds, "You said there were wasps?"
"Yes, about five of them from what I saw." Hopper wrapped Fliks arm around his neck to keep him upright. The ant looked about ready to pass out. "You gotta stay awake, okay? Don't give out on me now, kid."
The grass rustled behind them, and a large black and silver wasp stalked out. "I thought I smelled blood," he sneered and walked closer.
Hopper laid Flik down beside Flora and stood, "Where's the rest of your swarm?"
He glared, "Off to wait. They decided to let the two of you bleed out, but I knew better than to let a good meal walk off."
"Good for you," Hopper growled. "Now turn tail and get your friends before they have your dead body to find."
The wasp chuckled, walking closer until he was nose to nose with the grasshopper, "I'm three times your size, pipsqueek. You really think I need my swarm to take care of you?" All too quick, he grabbed Hopper, pinning his arms against his sides. "You're pathetic, really. But an easy snack, nonetheless."
Flik used what strength he had left to stand, "Wait! You're...you're looking to find the portal...right? I can find it for you..."
The wasp tilted his head toward the ant, "Oh? And where is it exactly?"
"I'll show you...but you have to let him go."
"Flik--" Hopper started but the wasp squeezed tighter.
He glared down, "What kind of idiot do you take me for? I know it only opens when something changes the timeline. Which is why I'll kill the both of you and open it myself." He drug a claw along Hoppers face, "Then we'll be back home and your precious colony will have lost their beloved inventor and protector."
Flik bit down on his lip, "It won't work if you kill both of us. Hoppers already dead in this timeline. Killing him won't do anything to open up the portal." He took a shaky step forward, "You only have to kill me to get what you want."
The wasp contemplated it a moment. "I see..." He threw Hopper to the ground and approached the ant, "I suppose I'll just leave the waste of space here for the rest of my swarm to kill. You, on the other hand, will be my ticket out of here." He grabbed Flik by the throat and pulled a hand back to swipe. Flik closed his eyes to brace for the impact.
There wasn't any time to steady himself. Hopper blinked through the colored splotches invading his vision. Fighting through the pain in his leg and torso, he stumbled over to a large boulder and lifted the weight above his head. Turning to the wasp, he flung it right into his side. Flik was released and tumbled to the ground, crying in pain as he landed on his bad leg.
The wasp twitched a little beneath the boulder, but Hopper knew it wouldn't be able to survive a hit like that. Without any more hesitation, he rushed over to Flik and helped him up. "The next time you try playing hero, give me a heads up. You're gonna have the whole swarm after you with that information."
Flik gave a feeble smile, "I made it up."
Hopper blinked, "You what?"
"About...about the portal. I made up that stuff so he'd let you go. Sounded good, didn't it?" The ant chuckled weakly.
The grasshopper sighed, smiling small as he lifted the weight off of Fliks leg, "You're gonna get us both killed, kid."
"I like to live life on the edge sometimes," Flik joked.
Atta cautiously walked up to them, eyeing the pinned wasp, "So...you two really are from another world?"
Hopper nodded, "It's a little different from yours. Obviously in ours I'm still alive," he deadpanned.
Flik tensed again as sharp stings coursed through him, "Yeah and I'd like to still be alive when we get home, too."
"Fine...but you're not allowed into the ant hill. You'll stay out here where Thorny will keep an eye on you," Atta glared at Hopper.
The grasshopper figured that as long as Flik was taken care of, he'd be subjected to whatever demands the princess had. Flik, however, had his heart set on not being left alone with these alternate ants. "I-I'm not going unless he comes with me."
Hopper gently pushed the ant toward the princess, "Now isn't the time to be stubborn, kid. You're bleeding out as it is."
Both of them watched intently as another ant scampered to the princess. The Flik of their world didn't seem too different in how he carried himself, if maybe a bit more distant. He hadn't contributed to the conversation at all up until this point. "Atta, maybe it would be better for Hopper to come too. He wouldn't be able to escape our sights."
She considered the idea and eventually relented. "Fliks right," she glared at the alternate, "MY Flik is right...keep your friends close and your enemies closer." With that, she turned on her heel and led them back to the ant hill. Dr Flora made an effort to help Flik lean his weight on her, but with her stout form it didn't do much of a difference. Hopper ended up carrying the ant into the hill, despite the distrustful looks casted to him.
It didn't go past Hopper that during their walk to the infirmary, Phyllis had kept an eye on him. Contrary to the other eyes, hers seemed more relieved than anything else. Hopper placed Flik down on the rock bed while Flora gathered her supplies.
A tiny buzzing entered the room. Dot flew in quickly and landed right beside the injured Flik, "Someone said you were hurt! I came as soon as I co--"
She stopped short as her eyes glanced over to the other Flik. Her Flik. "I think I ate too many blueberries," she laughed, "there's two of you."
Her Flik wrung his hands together, "Uh, Dot, there ARE two of us. Apparently they're from...what was it again?"
"An alternate universe," Hopper answered, startling the young princess.
She gasped, "I thought you were dead!" She jumped back toward the others.
Hopper rolled his eyes, "Wrong universe."
Dot got defensive as she looked between him and the injured ant, "You hurt him, didn't you? I oughta feed you to the bird myself!" She vainly pulled on his lower arms.
"Woah, squirt, calm down." The tugs didn't faze him in the slightest. He picked her up by the nubs of her wings, "I didn't hurt him, wasps did. And hesitate next time before you go hitting bugs three times your size."
Flik scoffed, "Hypocrite." Hopper narrowed his eyes at him.
"Look whose talking," the grasshopper retorted.
"I'm not the one that went running toward them in the first place."
"They were going to sneak up on you, genius. And at least I didn't purposefully get myself captured."
"He was going to kill you!"
"And he wouldn't you?"
Flik crossed his arms, turning from the grasshopper, "I knew you'd save me from him. He might be bigger than you but there's probably no bark to his bite. I'd like to see him lift a whole boulder off the ground, with an injured leg to boot."
"He probably can, kid."
"Not anymore he can't," Flik smirked matter-of-factly up at the grasshopper.
Hopper, in spite of himself, chuckled, "Of all the people to get stuck with it had to be you."
"I know," the ant smiled, "how lucky can you get?" Hopper just rolled his eyes.
Thorny rushed into the room, out of breath, "Your Majesty! It's Dot!" He panted. Atta furrowed her brow, everyone looking at the young ant who stood beside Hopper.
