And! The visual of all this happening in the same room, somehow, with equally canon results
Darth Vader: "Luke... help me take this mask off. Just for once, let me look on you with my own eyes."
Vegeta: "I have a troubled history with these Namekians. I did them untold harm. So no, I can't allow even one more of them to perish."
Megatron: "Once I've secured a new home for our race, I will confess my crimes- all of them, and happily."
Catra: *Sneezes*

This comment was under a post @spop-romanticizes-abuse made about the worldbuilding of atla and spop. Do NOT harrass the person who wrote this!. . .
Here's the tags that were used for the post:
Tumblr media
Two non-critical tags. Just two. And that fan thought it was necessary to leave the comment above. They've left so many comments like that one under different posts of the same account, and no matter how many times the owner told them they'll keep using the main tags, the fan comes back asking the same thing.
Someone needs to understand that no means NO. It doesn't matter if they say "please", if they keep insisting for the account owner to do what they want, they just come off as rude and condescending.
Critical blogs are allowed to use whatever tags they please. Tags exist to help people find the content they're interested in. There is no etiquette that says somebody has to use a specific tag or they break some kind of rule. Critical blogs don't often use main tags because we don't want fans to annoy us or send us insults or worse. What does the etiquette say about coming back to the same account over and over after you were told no?
You know what would be nice? If fans were mature enough to block the accounts they don't want to see instead of acting like a paladin no one asked for.
Btw, the post in question is on point. Spop worldbuilding is terrible and just because some fans don't care, it doesn't mean it's not true.

Adora x Lonnie has that yearning from the other side of the battlefield thing that people claim C//A has, but absolutely does not.
It's a shame they have so little fics (maybe I'll fix that one day), most of the ones I found in their tag was Lonnie being jealous of Catra because she had a crush on Adora. Do no get me started on the fic I saw that featured Adonnie as an abusive relationship that Catra had to save Adora from.
For sureeee I’m in love with Adonnie 🩷 As a concept, mostly, because I get why it’s difficult to put these two into practice (Lonnie is a character by the skin of her teeth). I wrote Adonnie only once before and… God, it was nice. It’s hard not to want to see these two together because of the respect they’d no doubt have for each other as people, soldiers, veterans, (as She-Ra)…
Absolutely swing some fics my way (links in inbox or DMs) if anyone wants to share their Adora ships >:)c
It would really make my day to read some sweet, narratively compelling Adonnie! Write those fics, Anon! Be the change you wanna see in the world!

Do you ship Adora with anybody? I personally ship her with Scorpia and Lonnie (Lonnie more so I think)
Yes! I'm a huge, huge, huge Adorpia shipper actually! Alternatively, my runnerups are Glimmadora, Adonnie (or whatever the Adora/Lonnie name is, I have no idea), and most recently I've been playing with this idea of Adora and Mermista of all fucking people, but that's a story for another post.
Anyway, yeah, a lot of my old writing is mostly me Trojan-horsing Adorpia into the narrative lol. I was (am) absolutely crazy about them. Back in the day, I would have dreams about them like... not even in sleep could I escape shipping them. (SPOP dreams didn't/don't come to me often but when they did/do you best believe I remember them in overwhelming detail).

Adora … does not… somehow… get *less* trauma than Catra…. Out of the same relationship they was *shared* between…. Them and Shadow… there is no “broken Catra” without an equally damaged Adora because one wouldn’t work without the other

I picked up that infamous "save the cat" scriptwriting book that so many writers keep recommending.
It's the biggest pile of horseshite I've ever read. The author keeps contradicting his own rules, has a strange hatred of the Christopher Nolan film "Memento", keeps trying to redefine specific writing terms to mean something else, admits he only wrote the book to make money and be the one to set "the rules" for script writing, spends most of the book bragging about how many scripts he sold and how many famous friends he has, and classified Schindler's List as a genre he calls "dude who has a problem".
But most importantly, he said that every script needs to have an establishing moment that's supposed to make us like the protagonist and want them to succeed. A moment where the character does something good, like saving a cat, to get us invested in their journey.
So imagine my surprise when we were given an episode called "Save the Cat" in season 5, where all built up themes and story are thrown out the window.
Holy. Shit.
So, I had to go read this for myself after receiving this ask, so I thank you so much for giving this to me. My experience with it was, ah, interesting to say the least. I’ve heard of and used Save the Cat (beat sheet) as a story structure concept in the past (I think most writers are going to be forced to come into contact with STC, right?) But the book it self was for screenwriting and not novel writing, so it never struck me as something particularly noteworthy... Until now.
BOY HOWDY is this a book. It didn’t, um, impact me in a direct way but rather it brought me into this wormhole of other concepts typically used in screenwriting that I’ve heard of but apparently only scratched the surface of. As I’m in this wormhole, they’re voices in the screenwriting community that criticize STC as well—not that I was interested at the time of finding those discussions, having already received this ask and having these points already in my mind. Some other voice were giving completely different advice, and I started to absorb everything with this newfound…. Curiosity…
The only thing that I think is appropriate to leave this post with now is this cool, summarized quote I found somewhere in the middle of the week I spent reading STC + devouring screenwriting research, and you can take it as you will:
“There is a difference between an artist and a creator”.
. . .
. . .
But back to SPOP…
So? Yes? “Save the Cat” (our SPOP episode)? Is a joke? It’s a funny little prod at the audience that expects you to know the real world context of the title, what the title is popular for, and what particular niche it’s popular in. Very clever, very cute.
But honestly. Anon. Dude. This is actually the funniest, highest quality shit I’ve ever had the pleasure of having in my inbox. It got me to read a book I never had the slightest intention of picking up, and learn so many little facts about screenwriting. Kudos to you, please come back whenever you want. You will always have my respect and gratitude.

Catra being anxious and having panic attacks over the bad things she did is actually counter productive to any hypothetical scenario where she is self reflecting and/or receiving constructive criticism.
Her potentially having crippling anxiety over being an asshole in the past PREVENTS and/or DELAYS any changes she might potentially make.
Making this character spiral over moral dilemmas does not inherently mean she’s actively working to change her ways. Her being afraid of facing her badness does not make her good; it simply means she has anxieties toward constructive criticism/dialogue.

If Adora and Catra both did crap to hurt each other then why do I never see comics abt Adora feeling like crap and feeling bad for hurting Catra

One of my favorite Catra scenes is this quick moment in Shot in the Dark in which Melog appears threateningly behind the group, and Catra's immediate reaction is to push Glimmer and Bow out of the way and jump at Melog.
I wish we've seen more of this Catra. Rather than showing her being rude to everyone around her - including people she severely hurted - I wish we could have seen more of her actively caring about and protecting the people that surrounds her, close allies or randoms civilians ; it would have shown a real development of her chaotic personality and would have made it easier to accept her redemption.
Hi! I wish we could have seen more of this Catra as well.
I'd like to point out that my personal understanding of Melog as a "character" (bear with me here) is that she is a reflection of whatever is going through Catra's head... So, this "character" is essentially... Catra. Almost... talking to herself? Naturally, I could be missing the mark with Melog (who has never stood out to me in my first watch of the show, nor any of other time). I'm sure there's something to analyze there with, at least, this interpretation of Melog... What does it say about Catra...? Is she protecting the group... from herself?
Either way... What did stand to me about Melog was that she's introduced entirely too late have any lasting impact on Catra (and the narrative). Which is also to say that this moment of Catra being, uh, protective of her, um, friends? Also comes... entirely too late to have made any lasting impact.
But, yes, I wish we would have more of this. Earlier. Much earlier.

fucking hate when catra is included in the best friends squad. out of all the characters, why is catra the one who gets to be included?? so many of the characters were genuine allies to she-ra but nah, i guess the abusive catgirl who tried to end the world was the missing piece of our group.

Spop didn't deserve a movie then and it doesn't deserve one now.
Just like spop fans didn't deserve Kyle then and they don't deserve him now.
