ᴛɪᴘꜱ ꜰᴏʀ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇʀꜱ [ꜰʀᴏᴍ ᴀ ᴡʀɪᴛᴇʀ]
don't let your skill in writing deter you. publishers look for the storyline, not always excellent writing. many of the greatest books came from mediocre writers—and also excellent and terrible ones.
keep writing even when it sucks. you don't know how to write this battle scene yet? skip ahead. write [battle scene here] and continue. in the end, you'll still have a book—and you can fill in the blanks later.
find your motivation. whether it's constantly updating That One Friend or posting your progress, motivation is key.
write everything down. everything. you had the perfect plot appear to you in a dream? scribble down everything you can remember as so as you can. I like to keep cue cards on my nightstand just in case.
play with words. titles, sentences, whatever. a lot of it will probably change either way, so this is the perfect opportunity to try out a new turn of phrase—or move along on one you're not quite sure clicks yet.
explain why, don't tell me. if something is the most beautiful thing a character's ever laid eyes on, describe it—don't just say "it's beautiful".
ask for critique. you will always be partial to your writing. getting others to read it will almost always provide feedback to help you write even better.
stick to the book—until they snap. write a character who is disciplined, courteous, and kind. make every interaction to reinforce the reader's view as such. but when they're left alone, when their closest friend betrays them, when the world falls to their feet...make them finally break.
magic. has. limits. there is no "infinite well" for everyone to draw from, nor "infinite spells" that have been discovered. magic has a price. magic has a limit. it takes a toll on the user—otherwise why can't they simply snap their fingers and make everything go their way?
read, read, read. reading is the source of inspiration.
first drafts suck. and that's putting it gently. ignoring all the typos, unfinished sentences, and blatant breaking of each and every grammar rules, there's still a lot of terrible. the point of drafts is to progress and make it better: it's the sketch beneath an oil painting. it's okay to say it's not great—but that won't mean the ideas and inspiration are not there. first drafts suck, and that's how you get better.
write every day. get into the habit—one sentence more, or one hundred pages, both will train you to improve.
more is the key to improvement. more writing, more reading, more feedback, and you can only get better. writing is a skill, not a talent, and it's something that grows with you.
follow the rules but also scrap them completely. as barbossa wisely says in PotC, "the code is more what you'd call 'guidelines' than actual rules". none of this is by the book, as ironic as that may be.
write for yourself. I cannot stress this enough. if what you do is not something you enjoy, it will only get harder. push yourself, but know your limits. know when you need to take a break, and when you need to try again. write for yourself, and you will put out your best work.

Find the Word Tag
I got tagged by @marinesocks a few days ago. (Sorry this took so long ^^")
The words were: FIRE, METHOD, RICH, ABOUT, and KNOW
I'll be using my old draft of Rage that Controls the Blade, because my other drafts aren't long enough yet.
~~~
Fire
He’d been too young to remember all the details, and it was rarely talked about in his household, but he did know one thing for certain.  There had been a fire, late in the evening.  He’d been awoken by the sounds of his father’s sobbing right before he ran off.  The cause of the fire was unknown to him, but only the young child had been able to narrowly escape the flames.  He still remembered the burns that scarred her arms and face.  He wanted to know more about what happened, but he didn’t dare ask.  It was still such a sensitive topic.
Method
I couldn't find one, so:
This WIP is my oldest. I've been working on it on and off for about 7 years, and it's changed drastically during that time.
Rich
The voice that broke through the ringing in his ears and his pounding headache was new. It sounded youthful and high in pitch, slightly feminine. He tried to look up at it, but a splash of new, bright colors quickly overwhelmed his mind. A variety of pinks and pastel yellows, a smudge of rich brown, and the vibrant greens of the grass. All of it swirled and mushed together. He shut his eyes tightly once more.
About
Once they turned the corner, the rest of the building came into view. It looked no bigger than an average house. However, it appeared to be entirely constructed entirely of dark brown wood. The bubbly windows were mostly dark, but some shone with a pastel yellow glow. The roof looked like an upside V that had been stretched out. It hung over the walls of the house about a foot. A small balcony extended from the right side and overlooked an overgrown wire fence. Tall, weed filled grass hid some of a wooden porch from their view. A large maroon vehicle with tan features sat in front of the house. Crushed grass behind the wheels implied that it had been moved fairly recently.
Know
"Well, yes, but these ones all stuck for weeks. Most missing cases are solved within a few hours, a few days at most. It intrigued me, and I started looking into these cases more. I found a few strange similarities," She cleared her throat, "One, most of these people had been reported missing at least one other time. However, they turned up quite quickly without explanation. Two, the disappearances were sudden. No talk of running away or clear motive. Three, no bodies were ever found, to my knowledge at least. They were all open cases. Four, they all had similar descriptions. They just vanished! No sightings of them! Some parents weren't even sure how the kids got out of the house!"
(That one was kind of cheating, but I couldn't find another one.)
~~~~
Tagging People: I can't really know of anyone at the moment, but if you'd like to, then go ahead!!
The words are: Upset, Chaos, Rain, Running, and Luck!

"Careful, Hot-Shot. One good strike from her could fry you to a crisp."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Click for better Quality!
Woop! It's been a while since I've posted art.
This character is named Iona and she's from Codename: Starships! She's an antagonist with the ability to summon electricity. Using her spear, she can amplify the electricity she can summon, as well as use it offensively.
She's very strict and protective, especially of her two brothers, and won't hesitate to put herself in harms way if it means protecting them. And on the flip side, she wouldn't hesitate to hurt anyone else...
Thank you for reading and I hope you have a good day! 💚💚
Birb
This is Soren from Codename: Starships! He's the newest hero in Samira's squadron. He's morally straight and uptight, and comes from a very reglious planet. Though, many think of him as a stick in the mud, or a suck-up.
He can change his arms into wings, allowing him to fly as well as deliver gusts of wind. He also has a sword, but he can only use it if his wings aren't out.
His armor is made out of a special lightweight, but durable metal found on his home planet!
Thanks for reading and I hope you have a great day! 💚
(More about the story under cut)
Ryker Clint is half way between roaming the galaxy as an independent bounty hunter-type person and running around doing tasks for an agency that's been tasked with protecting the galaxy. He keeps his ship running with his self aware computer, Pigeon, and his young mechanic, Kayl. The two of them were going through their normal routine when one of their closest allies was attacked and robbed of a powerful item, one of many scattered throughout the galaxy. Seeking revenge, Ryker and Kayl try to find the people responsible, but their paths are crossed with the Agency's, who are looking for the same people, and they quickly realize that these thieves are a bigger threat then they thought, as they've collected multiple of the powerful objects and are possibly putting the whole universe at risk.
(If there's any questions, feel free to ask! I'm not great at explaining things.)
The Worldbuilding event you didn't know you want, aka Founding February
Since there were a lot of folks interested in it, I will start some sort of worldbuilding event in February. I hate those questionnaires because they usually ask stuff I will never need in my writing, but yet here we are. So, anyway, I gathered some and compiled a list for 4 main topics. The first week will be all about geography, landscapes, flora and fauna. The second week about government, population and infrastructure Week three will be all about culture, magic and education. Last but not least we will finish with festivals, celebrations and food. For each week there will be a list with questions to help out but for everything sacred, please don't even try to answer all of them. You will get burned out on worldbuilding fast, besides there will be of course questions that are irrelevant to your WIP. They are meant as some help to get your mental gears kick-started. Write about whatever you want to share for the week's main topic. Everyone is free to join. You don't need to ask. Use the theme, the banner if you like (which will follow at the end of this post), feel free to tag me if you post something, but you also can just tag the folks from the tag list. Just do it however it fits for you. Tagging those who showed interest in this: @cometkov @raevenlywrites @blue-kyber @stormbrightwriter @weaver-of-fantasies-and-fables @ashen-crest And don't forget, this shall be fun. Don't overwork yourself on this.
Tumblr media
[Picture ID: A banner with a blue and turquoise background with the colors fading into each other with the turquoise at the bottom and the blue on top. In the middle of the banner, with a lightbulb that looks like a watercolor version of the earth with hands around it. The lightbulb is surrounded to the left and right with the words Founding February. ID End]
Raindrop Dude's story Lore pt 2 let's go-
Part 1 is here!
Without further ado, let's get into it!
A summary of the story cause I probably should have put this is the first one-
A young trio of students decide to break free from their hero school to try and start up their own agency, led by a boy named Val. However after their ship malfunctions, they are forced to land on the overgrown planet, Silvâtus, where they find themselves stranded in the middle of a battle. Luckily for them, they aren't seen as threats and are rescued by the local Hero Agency before any true harm can come to them.
However, before they can truly set off again, they find themselves sucked into the world's tense political situation as one of their own is injured and the agency is sabotaged to keep them from revealing the information they'd uncovered concerning an upcoming peace treaty between the two most powerful forces on Silvâtus.
Now, the rattled heroes fumble and rush to try and stop the plot at hand, and keep their home from being plunged into another series of civil war.
Wooo-
Species: The main species found in the story!
Humans:
They do be humans.
Humans in story: Valério, Otavio, Blair Hodges.
Reptilon
These are essentially humanoid lizards and reptiles. They have powerful tails and study scales, as well as sharp teeth. Vary in color and size. Other features also depend on the region in which they come from (frills, shells, etc). Due to their odd vocal cords, many are never able to learn common/English. However, they can learn to understand it. (They're language sounds like growls, grunts, and hissing to untrained ears. Though it can be learned.)
Reptilon in story: Kapera (Common Reptilon), Lyncoln
Note about Lyncoln: Lyncoln is a mixed breed. His mother was a rarer species of Reptilon, that resembled a snake, one of the few with an ability to speak English (Adderon). His father was human. He has skin and scale patches, and the combined genetics of both. He looks rather odd and is self conscious because of it, which is one of the reasons he tends to shy away. (Other note: speaks common, though with a clear lisp. His scales strength depend on where they are in the patch. The center is stronger than the outside.)
Capulais
A humanoid with many cat-like features. (Such as flexibility and pointed ears. Many even have a mane of fluff around their shoulders and neck.) They are known for being stealthy and slick, some even being able to hide themselves in a shadowy form. They are also highly sensitive to magic, and it's easier for them to learn. The forest-filled environment provides cover for them, making their sneaking more effective. The lush environment also allows them to grow a large selection of resources needed in potions and spells.
Depending on the region and clan, Capulais were taught to either cast spells or mix brews. However, some have learned to do both.
They are also known for hating water, and going as far as to avoid it at all costs. In fact, they only use small rivers and streams for their water sources. Or they dig wells and use groundwater.
Capulais in Story: Flaminus and Wrayan.
Silvâtus Elf (Red Elves)
A species of Elf native to Silvâtus. Resembles humans in body shape, although they have differing features. Such as pointed ears, four digits on each hand, and special markings on skin. These elves in particular have under their eye leading down their right cheek, and one on each arm. They're skin is also tinted pink/red. However, there is a vast variation in skin tones across the species, almost more than humans.
The name "Red Elves" comes from their home, the Maroon Forests of Silvâtus.
During the wars, these elves were mostly neutral, though many sided with the humans, causing some occasional tension with Capulais.
Red Elves in Story: Escalus and Savitari
Clara Dragona
A partly amphibious species with bright colors. These creatures live near reefs and other large bodies of water, though they aren't known to stray much passed the swallow waters. They can hold their breathe for up to 30 minutes before needing to resurface. Their colorful and bright scales make it easier to camouflage on the typically colorful jungles near the waters edge. Plus, some scales can absorb sunlight and produce a small amount of light in the darkness.
Not naturally native to Silvâtus, but a large colony of them have made one of the rain forests their home for generations.
They are a very peaceful people, with many traditions. They're scales often reflect their mood. The brighter and shinier the scales, the happier they are. They also have "hair", though it's very stiff, rough, and hard to work with. Most either cut it off, hide it under hats and scarfs, or learn to style it.
They used to be thought of dragons, due to their scales and tails, which is how they got their name. However they aren't related to dragons.
Clara Dragona in Story: Quency
Zimbilis
A horrid and ugly creature with 6 thin and long tendrils or arms. Despite the flimsy arms, they are typically broad and strong. Their jaw is crooked with sharp teeth. Usually tall and covered in veins. It's not known to be intelligent, and many see it as closer to an animal rather than humans or intelligent life. Not native to Silvâtus.
Zimbilis are known to be violent, but stupid, so your best bet is to outsmart it. Still, it's not a good idea to cross one, and an even worse idea to make it mad.
Insults and idioms often contain references to these beasts. Ex: "You have the brains of a Zimbilis" (you're dumb) "You've walked into the lair of a Zimbilis" (you messed up) "You look like a / you look worse than a Zimbilis" (you're ugly.)
Zimbilis in Story: ...
Fléculont
A humanoid with transparent, cloudy and surprisingly hard skin (more like scales than skin, though very small scales). The color can vary, but mostly sticks to very light pastel or whites. It feels smooth, yet oddly tough. The eyes are very circular and reflective. They don't have normal eyes, and it looks more like a disk than an eyeball. Not native to Silvâtus. Known to have a strange reaction when they come in contact with light.
Fléculont in story: Rese
Umbra-Serpulan
A rare and mysterious creature, little is known about the Umbra-Serpulan. Their place of origin is unknown. They are known to be shrouded in misty cloud of shadow, that can be used for attack and defense. Chains have been seen draped around their shadowy body. Their shadowy mist can be spread to form massive creatures, though the size of the non-shadowy form is unknown.
Most stories surrounding them are supposed myths and children's tales. Tales depicting horrible creatures of terror and fear.
However, one town dares to say they have one lurking in their town. Though, no one truly believes them.
Umbra-Serpulan in Story: Chokri
Other: Triton doesn't have a species persay. He's enchanted water, also known as an Enchanted Entity. However, there isn't much to say. Most of his properties/traits are similar to water. The main thing is that he can extend his arms up to 20 ft and flop them around. He can also slide/skate around on smooth floors. He doesn't have a natural voice, so he speaks using a voicebox on his collar. It detects tiny vibrations in his water, which is then translated into words. Since he was sort of conjured up one day, he had no understanding of emotions and what they were, though he can feel them just fine. Often has to try and describe his feelings to others and learn what they are.
No one quite knows how Flaminus made a sentient being (They're too scared to ask) but they're glad he did, cause they all like the lovable goof that is Triton.
That's all for now. Maybe part 3 if I think of more to say. Also sorry if this is confusing I'm not to great at explaining things.
A whole post surrounding the lore of Raindrop Dudes story (Unofficial Name)
There's a lot so more under cut! (Also it's unfinished, so much of the information is vauge or put as "unknown", "undecided", etc.)
----
Location: Silvâtus
Terrain: Lush and Green, with rolling hills and wonderous forests, ranging from waterfilled swamps to vast woodland.
History: Long ago, the planet was mainly home to a species of civilized, magic sensitive creatures unknown as Capulais. However, imperialists and travelers from other planets started coming to the planet for various reasons. Wars broke out between the two main forces that has lasted for generations.
Current times: There is a treaty in the works to establish order and peace between the two main groups (The Capulais and the "New" Government), including restoration of important land marks and places, and more even divides of land and such. Many are happy with the outcome. However, a few extremist Capulais don't agree with the treaty, and believe that they should take over rather than settle for a treaty.
Story based information: Rescue and "Hero" Agencies started popping up over the years, all over the galaxy. Students would typically train in special schools and then intern and be hired at different agencies.
There are a few main groups in these agencies:
Leader/Commanders: Leads the agency and squadron(s).
Fighters/Guards or Rescuers: Trained in combat and rescue protocol, these individuals do most of the field work in the agencies. (Typically populous part of organization.)
Medical: On hand doctors and nurses who both provide medical attention to injured crew, and to citizens during emergencies.
Engineering Division: This group deals in fixing and creating equipment for the crews. Less populated than other groups. (Not every agency will have one)
Magic Division: The least common group. If magic is common in an area, than an agency is more likely to have one. These groups aid in a multitude of ways depending on the magic the user knows.
Characters:
Valério (Val)
Age: Around 16
Species: Unsure
Group: Student/ Fighter Intern
Weapon: Large Axe
Bio: Valério is a troubled young boy. He was orphaned at the age of five when his mother committed suicide. He was passed around from one to home, shelter to shelter, until he was enrolled in a public student/intern program, as no one would take him in. He finally made friends in Kapera and Wrayan, though he had notable trust issues and cold-hearted behaviors. At the age of 16, he decided to run away from school with his friends to start an agency on their own, but finds themselves wound up in trouble. Has asthma, but doesn't usually tell people because he doesn't want them to think he's weak. Extremely stubborn.
Kapera
Age: 16
Species: Common Reptilon
Group: Student/ Fighter Intern
Weapon: Tail and Daggers/fists.
Bio: A level-headed and focused girl. She was the first one with the patience (and personality) to put up with Val and ended up becoming one of his closest friends. Her dream is to become a skilled Fighter, and she's been in fighting classes since she was a child. Doesn't speak English, but her two friend's know she has quite the snarky attitude. Fierce and protective, and would follow her friends to the end.
Wrayan
Age: 15, almost 16
Species: Capulais
Group: Student/ Wizard's Apprentice
Weapon: Spells
Bio: Wrayan is an optimistic and easy going friend- definitely the oddball in his more pessimistic friend group. He's eager to learn, and wants to learn magic, but struggles to find a teacher, especially in the small public school he attends. He ends up becoming the Wizard's Apprentice. He's very optimistic and sweet. However, he's also very trusting and easy to deceive. He loves his friend's dearly, and doesn't like to see them down.
Escalus (Es)
Age: 28
Species: Human or Elven
Group: Leader
Weapon: undecided
Bio: A local from the unnamed planet, he formed his own agency at the age of 20, with his two closest friends, and it grew from there. He seems very stoic and collected at first, but it doesn't take much to see that he's a very nervous fellow. He stresses himself with the weight of the agency and trying to do everything right. Luckily, he has a good support system. Despite his nervousness, he's a very kind and understanding person.
Savitari (Tari)
Age: 27
Species: Elven
Group: Fighter
Weapon: Compact Bow and explosives
Bio: At first glance, Tari is a free-spirited and slightly pyromanical fighter. Though, they are very truly caring and friendly, even if they come off a little strong. They are one of Es's closest friends, and usually the one calming him down. They are a skilled archer and explosives expert, and what they lack in scholarly intellect , they make up for in skill and physical strength.
Otavio
Age: 31
Species: Human
Group: Fighter
Weapon: Duel rapiers and cloak
Bio: Otavio is a hot-headed, yet chill fighter. Flunked a few years in school, which is how he ended up in the same year as Es and Tari. Despite his obvious lack of much scholarly intellect (most of which is an act), he's very athletic and confident, making him a good ally in the field. However, he tends to run from responsibility, and acts very childishly, sometimes even adding to Es's stress. Though, he never means to. He seems like an open book, and a clueless moron, but he's very good at keeping secrets.
Simineous Parek aka Over-Byte:
Age: 40+ [never specified]
Species: Unspecified
Group: Head Engineer
Weapon: A variety of Gadgets
Bio: Over-Byte is a very mysterious character. He hides his face and body at all times, hidden in long black clothing (face is hidden by mask and goggles.) He appeared out of the blue one day and asked for a job. Es was hesitant, but due to his stellar credentials in the engineering and mechanical fields, he was accepted. Now, he creates fantastic technology for his allies. He's very quiet and cold. Yet, those at the agency trust him and know deep down that he's just a little socially odd.
Quency
Age: 14
Species: Clara Dragona
Group: Engineering Intern
Weapon: Gadgets, though she doesn't see combat often.
Bio: Quency is a bright young girl with the enthusiasm of a puppy. She's very social and creative. Despite their considerable differences, she looks up to Over-Byte, and sees him as a sort of parental figure. Super sweet and bubbly. Bonds with Wrayan almost instantly and is excited to have another social ally her age. Though she acts tough, she's intimated easily.
Levist Flaminus
Age: 50-ish
Species: Capulais
Group: Head Wizard
Weapon: Spells
Bio: A cranky and bitter older man. Often cold to those around him, though they assure everyone that it's just his personality. He is a master at his craft, and is able to cast power defensive and offensive spells. Attaches himself to Wrayan, as the two are of the same species, and he is revolted by his lack of knowledge in magic. Makes it his goal to train him, and teach him all he can. A history buff. (He's the kind of guy you don't want at family dinners cause he'll turn everything into a political debate.)
Triton
Age: technically 2, though his mental age is much older.
Species: Enchanted Entity
Group: Wizard Intern/ Fighter
Weapon: Arms
Bio: Created by Flaminus to be an assistant, Triton ended up becoming more sentient then he had intended. Though he's lacking social and emotional intelligence, he's very spirited and loyal. Ended up in training to be a fighter, where he now resides when he's not aiding the Wizard. Without a voice, he uses a robotic voice box to speak, giving him an unsettling side. He struggles to grasp emotions, even though he is capable of feeling them. A very loyal ally when he's on your side, and a formidable foe when he's not.
Blair Hodges:
Age: 35
Species: Human
Group: Head Doctor
Weapon: No weapon, only medical tools.
Bio: Dr. Hodges is an intelligent woman with a friendly demeanor. She tends to be a little more uptight than the rest of the agency, though she's not cold. Very welcoming and comforting to patients and her student. A caring woman who just wants to help people. Wants to know as much as she can about everyone, so she can help them the best she can. Knows the team better than even Es, though she keeps everyone's secrets to herself.
Lyncoln:
Age: either 15 or 17
Species: Undecided
Group: Medical Intern
Weapon: None
Bio: A shy boy with a passion for medicine. He usually stays in Dr. Hodges shadow, though he would talk your ear off about medicine and different medical procedures for hours. Not too brave, but he has his moments. The longest running intern at the agency.
Others! (NOT IN Agency!)
Riciano "Rese" Flicket
Age: 30 (though acts much older)
Species: Fléculont
Group: Rouge/ no affiliation
Weapon: A long knife and "Flash"
Bio: A loner who prefers to stay out of the spotlight... or any light truly. Dresses in a heavy, dark clothing and doesn't interact much with people at all. Some believe it's due to an explosive temper, though his closest acquaintances know it's not his temper alone isn't enough to cause a scene.
Chokri
Age: Unknown
Species: Umbra-Serpulan
Group: No affiliation
Weapon: Shadowy tendrils and mist
Bio: Lives in the depths of one of the worst cities on the planet. Despite his scrawny appearance, this creature is not one to under estimate. Thrives in shadows, and is much weaker in sunlight. Mostly composed of shadowy "mist."
More lore:
Es's agency (which is one of the few located on Silvâtus) has been tasked with dealing with and looking into a few strange disturbances and outbursts.
They were also tasked with aiding in the protection of the government officials as the treaty is signed. However, things don't go as planned...
Val, Wrayan, and Kapera were traveling to find a place to intern when their ship broke down on Silvâtus. While trying to repair it, they were suddenly swarmed by a battle between the agency and one of the "disurbances." They were overwhelmed almost immediately, but the agency Fighters were able to help them before anything happened.
Wrayan stays to train as an Apprentice under Flaminus, as Wizards/Magic units weren't common and he might not get another chance. The other two don't want to leave him, but they don't want to stay either. They end up leaving, but it isn't long until they are forced to come back.
Silvâtus is full of different kinds of forests- From Maroon Forests, to marshy swamps, to "dark" forests, to regular standard forests. Anything that isn't forests is usually rolling hills and grass land.
Unfinished and will be updated as time goes on
{Click for better quality!}
Ryker Clint and Captain Harvey from Codename: Starships! Their initial encounter was a little bumpy to say the least.
These two are rivals in the story, only united by a single ally; The Witch. (I'll name her eventually i swear-)
Ryker was seeking out the Witch when he was interrupted by a gang of pirates, led by a witty and proud captain. After a brief duel, they were interrupted by the Witch, and quickly learned that they were going to be seeing more of each other.
Despite their extreme differences, and prideful attitudes, however, the two have found themselves working side by side under certain circumstances...
Also yes Harvey's sword is on fire. It's a seal or sign of the Harvesters O' Gaia. (Among other things. It's part of the reason for their name! [Hnvfhjn so much lore-])
Thank you for reading and I hope you all have a great day! 💚
Quiet Instincts
When she was a just young girl, Melissa stumbled across a group of runaway kids, who'd taken refuge in an abandoned schoolhouse hidden deep within the woods, and befriends them.
A few years later, at the age of 14, she starts seeing strange shadows and gets the feeling that something is watching her. While looking into what it could be, she is given an old manuscript. Deep within the worn pages, she finds stories detailing exactly what she is experiencing, including a location far into the local forest that is speculated to be the cause. Curiously, she takes a few of her runaway friends to investigate further. However, they quickly end up in over their heads...
hello! could i hear more about dillian? he sounds very interesting, and i love portal-type fantasy stories!
Hi! :D
Dillan is a curious 13 year old with a fairly mellow demeanor. He isn't very outgoing socially, so he only has a few close friends and his dog, and even they consider him awkward.
However, despite his notable shyness, he does like adventures, and loves spending time doing hikes with his father, and just being outdoors in general.
Back on the curiosity, he is very good at pulling out little details that many overlook, and he likes trying to piece things together. Though, he often finds himself stuck in his own head and overthinking the information he's found.
The mystery he's hung up on in the beginning of the story is the disappearance of his young cousin, Hailey, who vanished without a trace nearly 8 years prior. His family had taken the wounded girl in after both her parents had been killed in a fire, and not even 2 months later, she was gone. (She'd run away from Dillan's mother in a supermarket and they couldn't find her.)
However, he'd never had much information on it, as his mother was very strict on not talking about it. (She'd never liked the child, and when she lost her, it brought her bad publicity in their small town.)
Though, when he got to visited his Grandmother and stay at her house while his parents filed for a divorce, he learned more about his father's side of the family, and more about everything he'd missed out on. (Hailey was his father's sister's daughter. His mother despised his entire family and refused to have anything to do with them.)
His goal in the story is to find his cousin, as he has reason to believe she's still alive, and he's hoping that her reappearance might save his parent's marriage. (His father was deeply upset when his wife lost Hailey, as that was all he had left of his sister, and even more so when she basically blocked out the rest of his family. This led to fighting and eventually the talk of divorce.)
...
...
...
Oh yeah, and survive long enough to find her.
So originally I was going to "show" this after I was done with inktober, as most of the prompts have to with this, but I realized it would make more sense if I did it now.
A lot of the prompts are based around a few of my of my "older" projects, three to exact! I've worked on them on and off for a few years now, but I've only ever mentioned them in asks and stuff, as my main focus was Rage, which has been put on hold for a while...
The first is called "Quiet Instincts", a story about a young girl named Melissa who stumbled across a group of runaway kids (who'd taken refuge in an academy deep in the woods that had been abandoned nearly 40 years prior after 5 students went missing.) And befriended them. However, she starts seeing strange shadows and feeling like something is watching her. While looking into what it could be, she is given an old manuscript detailing exactly what she is experiencing, which includes a location far into the local forest that might be the cause, as well as a way to stop it. Curiously, she takes a group of her friends to investigate, but they quickly end up in over their heads.
The next is "Trapped Underground." This one is about a young boy named Callan, who stumbles across a strange cave with his friend, Felix. They decide to go back the next day to investigate further, this time with more friends, (and an unwanted tagalong...) However, a random earthquake leaves them, and another random boy who'd been near the caves, trapped within. Desperately, they try to find a way out, before they run out of supplies, or before another quake buries them. But, the deeper they go, the more they start to think the quaking may not have been so natural...
The final, and the most prevalent in my inktober drawings, is a story called "Codename: Starships" Summary: Overconfident anti-villain, Ryker Clint, is half way between roaming the galaxy as an independent bounty hunter-type person and running around doing tasks for the agency that's been tasked with protecting the galaxy. He keeps his ship running with his self aware computer, Pigeon, and his young mechanic, Cayl. The two of them are going through their normal routine when one of their closest allies is attacked and robbed of a powerful item, one of many scattered throughout the galaxy. Seeking revenge, Ryker and Cayl try and find the people responsible, but their paths are crossed with the Agency's who are looking for the same people, and they quickly realize that these thieves are a bigger threat then they thought, as they've collected multiple of the powerful objects and are possibly putting the whole universe at risk.
There's also gonna be stuff from Rage and even a few from Triton's story (plus one specifically for Triton!) But, I figured that I might as well give a little bit of insight into these stories, so that the prompts might make a little more sense-
That's all for now! I hope you have a good day!
"In with the Old...Out with the New."
Waa! :D
I decided to remake the cover not only because the design of the Hollowed Room was outdated, but I also had a new idea and wanted to try it! And I like how it turned out!
Okay, so this was originally made as sort of a celebration for hitting my 20th chapter in Rage that Controls the Blade (Because it's about half way through the book and it's the farthest I've ever gotten!) However, with the whole theft situation, I had to unpublish my book to stop the bot from stealing anymore, so I couldn't actually post the chapter...
But, on that note, I've got some news! I've decided to try and republish the story! If you want to check it out, the link is right Here! (Any views would be appreciated!). As of right now, it's only on Wattpad, but I might try posting it on Tumblr at some point!
There's also only two chapters published, as I'm trying to make a more stable schedule, but more are sure to come!
Thank you all so much for reading and I hope you have a great day! 💚
