Asami scanned the lavish setting, giving her usual cordial, well- mannered nods and smiles at the same people she saw at these fancy parties over and over. So many guests were her father's investors, colleagues and their family--with fellow socialites peppered in the costumed crowd. Obviously, they were there to hobnob and show off. And everyone else? Just a sea of strange faces that come and go in this 'world'--people that she considered background noise and uninteresting blurs...

She did her best glide about and seem like the Future Industries 'princess' they all expected, but as she passed some people, she knew very well from their sour expressions that they knew that she and her father had very well guarded drama between and around them. She sucked it up as always.

Slipping out past a few waiters, she headed toward the foyer, and darted out to the main doors, looking around. Green eyes glanced off innocently (but covertly), and then she slyly gestured toward the coatroom. "Alright guys, coast is clear."

And just to be safe, she had her 'plus 4' invitation forged nicely in her clutch, just in case.

Toph hated these things. More irritating noise and boring people to ignore, more saving face for her parents. More ways to try and stomach hearing from her nearby 'attendant' and parents on how spectacular she was for showing up with them. Sure. As long as she stood or sat like a porcelain doll and played coy. Pffft. She'd rather be listening to a wrestling match on TV at home, or out making her own trouble. No one in this stuffy place would EVER know the difference if she snuck away anyway. The random noise and chatter WAS making it super difficult to navigate though...even with her...new abilities. She sighed, this is going to be a long night.

He stammered a bit at first, scratching his temple oddly. There really were a plethora of things he admired in her, to be perfectly honest. But one certain thing surmised the lot.

"She is the most impassioned person I know, so unapologetic and thrilled about her interests and desire to learn more...as if there is a bottomless chasm of interests and ideas she can't begin to scrape."

"Cheese and fruit? Pffffft! We can raid the FULL stores too, my lady. I do think there's a goodly amount of cured meats for your liking, and plenty of desserts there, as well." He winked playfully, as if he had regressed into full childish naive. After all, he had always raided the kitchens since he was small, and often too, as an adult. Something's never changed. Especially the poor aim of the head cook, trying to fling her wooden spoons at his head.

"You can take whatever you please, Rapunzel."

He gestured towards the winding staircase to the main cookery, amused as she grasped his arm along the way. He listened to her many questions with a small smile. "Yes, he did. He was a childhood friend of mine...an orphan. Sort of. Ehhhh I won't get into THAT yarn just yet--but he became a famed sea bandit and acquired a crew from all over the 12 cities, and they encountered a lot of strange and horrific things."

He ducked his head as they crossed under the short entrance to the kitchen. "Ooh! Pistachio and honey cakes..." He shook his sweet-tooth's distraction away. "Anyway--here we are! Have at it!"

"Yes, absolutely!" she enthused again with a brilliant smile. "I'm pretty handy around the kitchen, if I do say so myself." She did, after all, spend eighteen years as the primary cook in a family of two. Well... one and a half, what with Gothel's frequent absences. "I'm sure we can find some left over bread and cheese and fruit, maybe some meat, and have a nice cold snack while we look at all of this. It's absolutely incredible! You said your friend composed it? Can you imagine getting to travel all over the world, so much so that you can map it out?"

Except, yes, Proteus probably could imagine it, and quite well. He was, after all, a sailor. He'd done far more traveling than she had so far.

Grabbing his arm, she began tugging the way she recalled the kitchen being while she was exploring his palace, eager to start their new adventure, even if it was just someone else's words in a book about the world.

She chuckled and leaned in to kiss his cheek, still holding his gifts.

"Yeah, I'd say there's no comparison." She grinned sweetly, he really was cute when he was trying to be funny...Taking his arm, she tossed her hair softly. "Mhm. No one's at my place for weeks, so we can use our indoor pool if you want."

Ahh, taking advantage of her dad's many business trips to the far east. Well. She never had a reason to do so before, but now she does.

"It's heated, too...unless...that's weird for you? We can always turn the furnace off and make it cooler if you're more comfortable that way. Sorry. I'm...still learning about your...body and what it likes." Annnnd that came out awkward and wrong. Immediate Asami regret. She could feel her ears going beet red under her dark locks. "I mean! It's different from hum--er--me. I'm just really all about making you comfortable and feeling good." Wow, what a jagged drive to home that was--she's usually way cooler and smoother than THAT.

"We can portal there, right?" Better to change the subject then meander into another embarrassment. "You can order the pizzas while I'll set everything up at the pool."

Oh, she loved it? Er, of course she did! That or she was just being sweet like always. Whatever, it was a success, right? Leo, trying not to be too obvious with his relieved exhalation of breath, beamed at Asami.

"Well, ya know, whenever you don't have the real deal to cuddle I guess this lil guy will make a decent runner-up."

"I'm still handsomer, though." Surely they could agree on that. Still smiling, Leo sauntered to Asami's side and--just like he'd seen in old movies--he offered her his arm.

"Now, my sweet, I believe we've got some date night-ing to do, no?" Oh god why'd he try the Pepe LePew accent? If he didn't die of embarrassment he'd be cancelled on the internet. "Yeah, forget I said that."
