"Leila DiNozzo," he muses. "That sounds like one hell of a name, kiddo. I think I'd be very happy if you walked around and everybody knew you were my kid. You're pretty awesome, you know."

He already boasts about her like she's his biologically, can't shut up about her most of the time. That's going to be even more true now that he knows for sure that she wants him to keep her. He's already making a list of the things he's going to have to do for Professor Xavier to sign off on him adopting her.

"You're going to stay here. You know, since you're staying, we should probably pick out some paint for your room, maybe some new furniture. I think it's time for a remodel, what do you think?"

Leila just clings onto him even tighter, skinny little arms hugging him for all that she's worth and more. She just wanted to go home after her powers activated, but she hadn't been able to because her family didn't want a mutant. They'd wanted a normal kid if they'd wanted a kid at all.

"Yeah... yes, please. Wanna be a DiNozzo, please, forever. Professor Xavier would let you, I know he would! Even if he didn't, I still want to stay with you. I love living here with you, Dad."

Tony can't help the startled laugh that he lets out at her suggestion that they run away. Fuck, but running away right now sounds like an ideal situation. Things aren't great at work, more so than usual, and Tony is so tired of feeling miserable every day, of struggling to get up and go to the gym, to go to work. He can't even drag himself out of bed most weekends that he has off. He can't remember the last time he made himself something fresh to eat.

"You really know how to tempt a guy. Leaving NCIS for a while sounds like heaven," he sighs, "But I can't do it. Gibbs needs me. McGee isn't ready to be a senior field agent, and Ziva can hardly handle the job of a probie. I don't want to leave Gibbs hanging and the only other SFA I would trust around him is Cassie and she's sworn never to work with Gibbs."

He doesn't know if it's a sense of duty that keeps him with Gibbs but he suspects it is, suspects that his life has revolved around making Gibbs happy for so long that Tony doesn't know how to do anything else. He's trapped here, at NCIS, until Gibbs decides that he's done with him, that he doesn't need Tony on his team anymore. That point hasn't come yet, but Tony knows it's only a matter of time.

"I can't walk away yet."

"So see? Dat's a big deal," she says on the heels of admitting that he got the guy he was after. Tony works every bit of his cases, delegating what he can and chewing on the rest day and night, often times denying himself sleep or sanity. "But I t'ink you have to take all dat wi' a grain of salt. When it comes t' ya job an' mine? No kine will evah seem enough. For every killah or rapist or t'ief you catch, dere gonna be two or more dat you don't. Same. For every life I can save…dere's more dat I can't. We're only one person. I mean we're individually one person each, not we're da same person cause dat would be weird but…but you see my point, right?" Sometimes she gets way ahead of herself and things get a little funny by the time that it comes to her lips. She means to be comforting, she means for him to see it from her perspective but she probably failed. "For wha' it wor'd, if you feel under pressure so much, if no one appreciate you like you deserve t' be… jus' tell Gibbs an' dem dat you are entirely too rich t' keep comin' in f' work. Put in ya two week notice an' decide where you wanna be for a while. Villa in Italy? Farm in Ireland? Wanna go on photo-safari in Africa? You jus' tell me an' I'll buy tickets firs' hour in da morning. Wha' ya feel about dat? You could use vacation for a year or two, discover wha' you wanna do next."

With Paramount+ making the colossal mistake of ordering YET ANOTHER NCIS spinoff focusing on Tony and Ziva and them raising Tali, I would once again like to reiterate that I do not ship Tony and Ziva, that I find the ship to be toxic to both of them, and that I will not even consider shipping it, even if it is canon. Also, I will not change Tali's FC to match whoever they cast for this trainwreck of a show because I reject anything and everything to do with this show. I'm quite disgusted that they're even doing it, but Paramount is great at attempting to wring every last penny out of what they do, and NCIS has been their biggest money maker since 2004.

I'm not gone forever. I've been mostly on my multi but I'm also in the middle of the semester from hell. I promise I will return to Tony.

I turned in my last assignment for the semester about an hour ago. I will be around for the next three weeks before my next semester starts. I'm over on my multi right now, but I'll be on Tony again soon.

no no. you don't get it. the reason I injure my blorbos until they can't walk is because that's the only way they'll ever let someone else carry them. the reason I curse them to be sick and feverish is so that they'll finally open up about their emotions while delirious. the reason I force them to overexert themselves to the point of exhaustion is so that when they pass out they can finally rest.

I'm doing this for their own good.

December is Tony's favorite month, but it's also his least favorite month. He loves Christmas and Hannukah. He hasn't celebrated Christmas since Tali came to live with him, but he makes sure Hannukah is special for her. He loves the festive nature of the month, and he wanted to share that with his daughter.

The downside to December is that Tony inevitably catches something. His immune system isn't what it was before he got the plague and he tends to catch the flu or pneumonia easily, especially since Tali is in school and around germs a lot. No amount of trying to avoid it is going to keep him from getting sick.
