Okay, this one tugged at the ol' heartstrings, because twenty years ago I had a dedicated website for archiving U2 audio clips -- some of which I'd found here and there, but most of which I'd clipped myself. This included a special section just for Bono's Suggestive Noises. (There were a hundred or so clips in this section.)
The site is gone, I'm sad to say, though you can still see its ghost on the Wayback Machine.
But I still have all the audio clips. Some of them are in formats that no one has used lately (to put it gently), but having seen the above post, I've been inspired to zip them into an unsorted jumble of 800 files that everyone is welcome to download and rummage through here.
enjoy <3
Sexy Bono audio moments
Not ranked and certainly not exhaustive. Reblog to add yours.
everything going on during the last minute of Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
his breathing at the very end of Helter Skelter
every time he throws it to The Edge but particularly in this performance of In God's Country
Pleeeeeeease, baby please
when he plays the harmonica (so this is cheating bc the visual helps)

what's fun about newton and hermann is that they're both extremely cheesy but in totally different ways so they're still never in sync like newton would tell everyone he and hermann are going to save humanity with the power of love and hermann would blush and scoff and roll his eyes but then late at night he'd whisper things like i ache for you dr geiszler and newton would be like ahhhaha what. oh my god. awesome

Genuine question: where did the perception that fandom is for young people come from? When I first got into fandom it was mostly middle aged ladies. Fandom as we think of it today was invented by middle aged ladies; AO3 was invented by people who certainly weren't kids or teens.
Like I get there is both sexism and ageism involved--adult women aren't supposed to have hobbies etc etc, but presumably in, say, knitting fandom, the sexist and ageist comments aren't, "knitting is for young people and you're creepy to want to discuss knitting online." Presumably the vitriol is about wasting time or something, because as we all know the stereotype about knitting is that it's for little old ladies.
My question is how (and when) did the stereotype about fandom become that fandom is for young people?

someone I follow on the bird app just announced they're starting a very exclusive private fic server because they and a bunch of other people want to talk about how much they love the fics they're reading, and as an author can I just say that a really great place to talk about a fic you love is in the comments for that fic
I understand that people are trying to create safe spaces, but as the number of comments that I get on my fics dwindles with each passing year, knowing these spaces exist where my fics are being discussed, places that I am excluded from, makes me want to write fic LESS
I mean I guess who cares, right, because if I stop writing, there's 10,000 other people that will continue...but if you participate in a fic "book club" server and you say nice things there about a fic you loved, maybe copy and paste that into a comment on AO3?
the only thing fanfic writers are asking for in return for hours of hard work is attention. please don't rob us of the one thing that we hope for when we hit "post"

I often see folks on social media lamenting about a movie/show/cartoon they used to love but which they revisited recently and found to be cringe/problematic
this happens, it's a part of getting older, but can I recommend trying for the reverse? if there's a well-regarded piece of media that you found uninteresting when you were young, consider revisiting it to see if perhaps you can find more appreciation for it now. things don't stop resonating with us as we get older, it's just that the things that resonate change over time
here's a few examples from my own life:
me watching Rocky Horror at 12: I don't get it me watching Rocky Horror at 19 after I started hanging out with the goth kids: this film is the pinnacle of human culture and I'm pretty sure I'm not joking
me watching Dr. Strangelove at 14: I don't get it, and black-and-white movies are boring me watching Dr. Strangelove at 30: ohohoHOHOHOmygod this is hilarious but also deeply horrifying. also the black-and-white cinematography is gorgeous
me watching Bridges of Madison County at 17: sobbing because why didn't she get out of the truck, why didn't she just get out of the goddamn truck me watching Bridges of Madison County at 37: sobbing because I understand now why she didn't get out of the truck
me watching The Fugitive at 16: this film is pretty good but I don't know why everyone had to lose their collective shit about it when it came out me watching The Fugitive last week: a suspenseful drama that is meticulously written, beautifully paced, expertly acted, and yet untainted by Save The Cat's insidious influence is like a cool drink of water on a hot day, bless everyone who made this film (but especially Tommy Lee Jones)
please feel free to reblog and add your own (re-)discoveries <3

rip kontextmaschine, you were a real one (and by "real one" I mean "a wackadoodle in portland who refused to go to the doctor to treat the illness that eventually killed you because you believed that they're all quacks, not because you couldn't afford health care")
I love that I can jerk off about guys now. That's just so neat!

to any fic reader who has ever thought "i don't need to leave a comment on this fic that i loved, after all, what's one measly comment? what difference could i possibly make to them?"
i have attended the wedding of a couple who met because one of them commented on a freaky smut fic that the other one wrote
(one of them proposed during a panel they were both on about omegaverse)
comments make a difference in people's lives
