Let's talk about Chat Noir trying to cataclysm himself
So, we all know that what he did was,,, truly horrifying
But the way that he bounced back after a few kind words from Ladybug? That just really showed how dependent he is on other's approval. Without the constant validation from those he loves, he feels like he's nothing
A few more things no one knows about foster care because our community is dominated by foster parents to the point where actual foster kids & survivors of the system get drowned out
Everything foster kids do is subject to suspicion.
We live under constant surveillance, yet without the security that children should have. Every mistake, every act of self defense no matter how honest or justified is documented and often weaponised against us. This is especially true for children of colour.
We are punished for following ‘too many’ rules.
If we act out, we’re violent monsters and ‘future serial killers’.
If we NEVER act out, we’re seen as vaguely inhuman and branded ‘superficially charming’, which also upholds the Western world’s longstanding classist, ableist, and eugenicist traditions that children who suffer don’t grow up in cisheteronormative birth families are deeply threatening and destined to become sociopaths.
We’re purposefully pitted against other kids.
Rewards are put in place for spying on each other. Solidarity is systemically discouraged and often punished, especially if the foster siblings we’re living with also happen to be our birth siblings.
think one of the most annoying things tryhard white allies on this site did is think that any audience who doesn’t want to constantly talk about issues like racist violence, whitewashing, racial slurs, colorism, etc. is only made up of uncomfortable white people and not POC who can be triggered, exhausted, or traumatized by constantly being exposed to such harmful topics 24/7.
now am i saying that other poc shouldn’t be held accountable for perpetuating such harmful ideals? no. nonblack poc should be criticized if they perpetuate antiblack racism and lighter skinned/whitepassing poc should be criticized if they perpetuate colorism. etc.
but this is about white people who think they’re being allies by trapping poc in conversations about triggering topics without any warnings or permission. this is about white people who start off chatting with poc and then out of nowhere just start talking about racism to any poc who’ll listen because of course a white person being angry about racism is more important than the feelings of poc /s
this is about white people who assume that the only topics poc want to talk about are ones that we’re harmed by. white people really care more about looking like allies and getting clout or woke points instead of the comfort and safety of poc. just the countless amount of times white people in online and offline spaces spend their time triggering poc instead of educating other white people because they really never think before opening their mouths.
also? what the fuck makes you think that poc are inherently down to talk to white people about racism anytime you want? not all of us are down to listen to you rant about triggering issues we already know about because to us its more than just a conversation topic. its our trauma and experiences and its something you people never take into account when you treat it as just another casual discussion topic.
the time white people spend contributing to the deterioration of poc’s mental health could be time spent either supporting us or educating other white people who actually need it. if poc tell you not to share certain graphic visuals, or if poc ask you to tag something with a warning, listen.
there’s a difference between white people dismissing racism and poc trying to take care of their own mental health.
