fearlessskywalker:
dantooine was always so green. whereas naboo had a delicate balance of green and endless blues, dantooine had these lush endless forests and intense greens sprouting from everywhere. it also got humid occasionally under the leaves which meant anakin was damn near dripping sweat. he was from the desert for force sake, he hated the humidity. hell, he’d never understood how no matter the climate obiwan just looked the same.
reining in his force presence until it was all but invisible anakin grimaced at his mistake. he’d only meant to come here in an effort to explore and maybe gather resources but his mistake in relaxing had lead to someone finding him. adjusting the pilots goggles on his forehead he knew with his artificially dyed dark hair and soot covered face very few would even think to guess at who he was. his force signature absolutely had potential to ruin that anonymity. “not an issue if you don’t have one. I am as well.”
Tumblr media
.
his response wasn’t expected. frankly, she had expected that regardless of what she said, escalation was inevitable. of course, she was no fool - words alone couldn’t assure her about his intentions. she knew how those who walked the dark path lied and manipulated - but... well, he seemed genuine.
actually- everything about him didn’t quite seem like what she had expected. for a moment, she found herself remembering the first time she had seen revan’s face. it was sometimes easy to forget that those who fell were just sentients, like everyone else.
“where are you passing through to?” she asked. her better instincts told her to let it go and retreat. she wouldn’t help anyone by getting into a fight here, and she had her business to attend to, anyway. but... she doubted it would be wise to just let him go and complete his objective. “i can’t think of many places on dantooine that would be of interest to someone like you.”

forcemasterjinn:
Jinn did think that was strange, but maybe it was also a product of the time. “That is strange, in those times having a family wasn’t discouraged. The strange thing is why it is coming to light now. I do have a few theories that it was so far back in the archives that it was forgotten. Now our archives are a lot smaller, so I think we’re going to see more old information. Good job Bastila, this is a great find. Maybe we can learn from these”
Bastila listened to his words with rapt attention. She knew of her own time - she knew that she had always been warned of the dangers of attachment - but her knowledge of what had transpired between then and now was limited. “I... actually did have a few questions about this topic.” She admitted quietly, her hesitation clear. This wasn’t a line of questioning she would have dared open with her Masters in her own time, but... she reasoned that asking was better than allowing herself to travel down a dark path alone. “If you have the time to discuss it, of course.”

freedomkit:
Worn leather boots echoed neatly on cantina floors, and Kit let his eyes wander over the other lifeforms throughout the public area. The wanderer often found himself in places such as this; some were seedy and rough around the edges, others more high-class, scaled far off the ground with bright paned windows and extravagancies.
Kit had to admit that he tended to like those in the middle-ground a hell of a lot more. Perching himself on the stool beside a humanoid creature, who clearly at the very least spoke Standard, Kit cleared his throat and raised a hand to a woman making her way around the cantina, bringing drinks and grub for whomever waved her on. She either sensed what a man like him wanted, or really didn’t care about what he actually wanted, as she seemed to continue on to the next person.
“It’s unfortunate then, that you’ve now got it.” Kit gave the humanoid creature a nod, flicking molasses-hued eyes at her face, then back down to his gloved hands, removing the leather from his fingers and placing them in his vest pocket.
Tumblr media
“At the very least, let us not be strangers,” He continued, observing, searching. “Kiri’n.” A now gloveless hand held out as a peace offering, “A pleasure.”
Immediately, Bastila found her irritation rising. Growing up in the Jedi temple on Dantooine, there was a certain type of person that she was used to. Jedi Masters, calm and wise, Jedi Knights, courageous and heroic, Jedi Padawans, studious and dedicated. It was only when Malak and Revan had turned their sabers against the Republic, and Bastila’s particular skills had become necessary on the front lines, that she began to gain experience with other sorts.
Of course, there were those who were perfectly noble outside of the Order, but there were others who were... less so. But, she supposed, wasn’t that exactly why she had come here? For an escape?
With a soft breath out, she looked over at him. She supposed she wouldn’t have thought him particularly unhandsome, if that had been the sort of thing that mattered to her. Perhaps spending some time socialising wouldn’t be the worst use of her time.
“...Bastila.” She finally said, accepting his hand. Her name meant nothing in this time. There was no harm in sharing it. “Do you make a habit of approaching strangers like this?”

“You don’t need to worry about my abilities.” Bastila replied, noticing the arrogance of her words a moment too late. She could almost imagine Master Vrook’s disapproving look, even though she technically hadn’t seen the man in thousands of years. She forced the image from her mind - it wasn’t relevant, and it wasn’t helpful.
“In my experience, these sorts are rarely merciful. If I escaped from your mistake, would you be safe?” There was another image in her mind, now. Taris, burning. Bastila had always trusted in the greater good, but the sacrifice of others had never been something that had sat well with her.
“Unfortunately they aren’t stupid so tricking them isn’t an easy task,” he confesses with a soft sigh. Figuring out a way to maintain his cover and impeded the Jedi hunters has been easier said than done. He’s spent precious hours agonizing over various plans. Knowing that he’s operating on very little time he’s had to pick one and hope for the best. It’s not the best plan, in fact, it’s barely even a plan but he’s run out of options and time.
“They view me in a manner that is contradictory,” he adds, doing his best to summarize his barely-a-plan plan. “They view as both an assent and an idiot. If I were to input the wrong coordinates at the point of a supposed Jedi sighting, I could have them looking in the wrong direction while you and any other Jedi in the area make your escape. It wouldn’t keep them distracted for long, however. You’d have to move fast.”

xkyberheart:
it had been two years since she had woken up on her childhood home, it had been two years and there was no sign of them. rogue one. jyn owed them everything, and every night she prayed for them to come back. it was clear that everyone around her was getting a second chance, so why not her friends? if anyone deserved a second chance at life it was rogue one.
she had never learned how to deal with her emotions, sure she was getting better and letting people in, she had not built the walls that bodhi, cassian, chirrut and baze, had tore down, but when the guilt was too much to handle jyn still found refuge in a strong drink. this particular cantina was not her favorite, but there was less of a chance of running into someone she knew. or so she thought.
while not particularly close to the person she just recognized across the bar, jyn still felt the need to say hi. their first encounter had been enough to fill jyn with curiosity, and before they parted ways jyn had thought of the jedi as a friend. ❝neither did i❞ jyn said signaling the bartender, ❝i actually picked this place because i hoped not to run into anyone i might know❞ she admitted, ❝but it’s been a while, so i thought i would say hi.❞
It took a moment, her mind running through everyone she had met over the past two years, trying to place the familiar woman - and when she placed her, she found herself pleasantly surprised. They didn’t know each other well - certainly, they didn’t know each other from the Temple - so her escape from responsibility wasn’t yet ruined.
Her initial suspicion slowly dipped, and she gave the other a small but friendly smile. “...Likewise.” She admitted after a moment. This wasn’t the type of place one would expect to run into a Jedi. It was part of the reason why Bastila had chosen it.
She nodded to the seat across from her. “You can make yourself comfortable, if you’d like. I was not expecting company, but... I do not mind it.”

His response put her further on edge, but she does as her says, looking down into her drink. Jedi hunters, she was familiar with. In her own time, they were the agents of Darth Revan, and then Darth Malak - powerful agents trained to track down and deal with Jedi. She had never met one, herself - before her mission aboard the Hawk she had travelled with an entourage, her Battle Meditation to important to risk losing - but she had heard gruesome tales.
This time was different, and she had no doubt that these Jedi hunters would be unlike those of her own time, but it would be reckless to ignore the warning. “How do you intend to delay them?” She asked, voice low to avoid being overheard.

He’s putting himself in great danger, meeting with her in public like this. But it’s a necessary risk, two extremely dangerous people determined to hunt and eliminate Jedi within the local area. He doesn’t sit or stand beside her. Instead he leans against a nearby wall. Datapad in hand, he pretends to be filling out a form on it as he speaks to her. With his helmet on, from a distance, it’s impossible to tell if he’s speaking or not.
“You’re not expecting any and you’re not getting any,” he replies, getting right to the matter at hand, “don’t look at me as you speak.” Waiting a beat to make sure she understands what he asked her to do, he continues, “Two extremely skilled agents have been going around massacring Jedi. I have been unable to confirm if they are dark force users or not. What I can confirm, however, is that they are headed this way. You can not stay here any longer. I will delay them as long as I can. However, I can’t delay them for long without arousing suspicion.”

Luke  really  hadn’t  meant  to  interrupt.  His  own  familial  responsibilities  were  making  him  anxious.  He  loved  spending  time  with  his  mother  and  sister  as  well  as  being  able  to  catch  up  with  his  friends.  But  with  the  lingering  worries  about  his  father,  it  was  too  much  for  him.  He  needed  to  get  away  from  the  temple,  where  he  had  been  meeting  with  Leia  and  her  master.  He  could  tell  the  woman  at  the  other  end  of  the  bar  was  force  sensitive,  but  he  didn’t  recognize  her.  He  stood  up,  abandoning  his  empty  glass  as  he  approached  her.  He  raised  his  hands  in  mock  surrender,  trying  to  show  her  that  he  meant  no  harm.
“  I  don’t  want  to  bother  you  but….  I  was  just  wondering  if  everything  was  alright  ??  “  he  asked,  motioning  to  the  bench  next  to  her  before  he  sat  down.  His  lightsaber  was  on  his  hip,  but  for  now  his  cloak  covered  it.
It was second nature to be suspicious of strangers. In her own time, anyone but the Jedi had the potential to be threats; she was Bastila Shan, the Jedi prodigy, and she had known well that there were many who would be more than willing to sell her out to gain favour with the Sith Empire. The other being strong in the Force only meant that there was all the more danger.
Except, this wasn’t her own time. Two years had passed, and that fact was beginning to sink in. She was still herself, but now, that meant nothing. She was just another Jedi, and there was no need for her Battle Meditation in a time of peace.
So she took a breath and relaxed her posture. There is no emotion. She could handle small talk. “Of course. I am simply passing time. Do you make a habit of approaching strangers?”

Bastila enjoyed the peace of the Jedi temple. She enjoyed being able to meditate, practice her skills with her saberstaff, and learn without any distractions. She enjoyed the company of her fellow Jedi, even if being from different periods sometimes made it difficult to fully understand them. This was the truth that she would claim any time she was asked about the temple.
Still, she privately thought that there was something nice about being away from the temple. It wasn’t quite the same as travelling the galaxy aboard the Ebon Hawk, but there was a sense of freedom that came with being away from the temple and the Jedi. She tried not to think too much about what that could imply.
Instead, she sat off to the side of a cantina, away from the temple and her responsibilities, quietly enjoying the brief respite from the pressures of the Jedi. Sensing another approaching she looked up, eyes narrowed suspiciously. “I’m not expecting company.”

kanan smiled a bit at bastila, he had been glad to hear she was able to resituate herself, to find a purpose in this time. but the temple… the thought of a new order… he wasn’t sure how he felt about that, honestly. it worried him that the same thing would only happen again.
that so many more would have to suffer what he had.
“i haven’t, not yet anyways. i’ve heard it’s… a good atmosphere, i’m glad that you have.”

.
Though she wouldn’t admit it, a part of Bastila was disappointed that she hadn’t seen Kanan around the temple. She didn’t know him well - they were only acquaintances, really - but she liked him. His support had meant a lot to her, when she had first woken in this time. Still, she would be lying if she said she couldn’t understand why someone would rather not return to the Order.
“It is. It’s peaceful, and the Masters are very knowledgeable. We would be happy to have you, if you ever wanted to visit.”

forcemasterjinn:
Jinn, having finished his teaching lessons, looking at Bastila with a thoughtful expression. “Of course, what did you find.” He said looking over at the data pad with an interested expression. There wasn’t much left in the Archives that they could find from the vast library they had before. It was a decent amount, Bastila has been a big help with keeping the Archives up and running.
The Archives of this time were vastly different to the extensive records that had been kept in Bastila’s time - a product of the Jedi purge - but what was there was still worthwhile. Bastila had spent a great deal of time organising the information that they did have. She claimed it was because the information deserved to be preserved, but while she did truly believe that, she had other priorities. But there was no need for anyone else to know that.
“It was an account from a few thousand years ago,” So, from closer to her own time. “It mentioned a Jedi who had a family. The records are incomplete, so I was unable to find any further information - but it struck me as... strange.”

While so much had changed, Bastila was relieved that one thing had stayed with her - namely, her saberstaff. Running through defensive maneuvers with a remote was, perhaps, not the best use of her time, but recently she had found it was a way to let go and dip into the Force without becoming overwhelmed.
Unfortunately, letting go had it’s downsides, and she noticed too late that she had almost reflected an energy blast at Merrin. Horrified and a touch embarrassed, Bastila deactivated her saber. “I am so sorry - you aren’t hurt, are you?”

"Have you visited the Temple yet?” Bastila asked. She had spent much of her time at the Temple, herself - training, learning, surrounding herself with the Jedi once again, even if she wasn’t entirely convinced that it was where she actually wanted to be. Still, if she kept pretending to be the perfect Jedi, eventually she would believe it. “It is quite a sight.”

“It’s strange,” Bastila said, looking at the Coruscant skyline. “So much time has passed. So much has changed. But Coruscant is still Coruscant.” A pause, as her gaze drifted to the old Jedi Temple, “Well... for the most part, I suppose.” Two years had passed, and while she had tried to adjust to the times, the near-total destruction of the Jedi was still something that she struggled to wrap her head around.

"Master Jinn,” Bastila spoke up, approaching the other Jedi with a slight frown on her face. She didn’t wait for permission before continuing; what was on her mind was clearly important to her, “I was in the Archives again, and I found the most... peculiar account. I have to admit that I don’t fully understand it. I was wondering if we could discuss it - if you aren’t busy.”
