probably dumb question but is uhh. is the general consensus among like. people who are not christians that evolution Did happen? like is sincere belief in creationism as opposed to evolution perhaps actually pretty rare? genuinely asking bc tbh. embarrassed to admit this but i had a very spotty? science education? and my family is all very christian and my dad did go out of his way to pull us out of even bible camps if they even mentioned evolution as an idea. so i did grow up w the idea that the theory of evolution is heretical and there’s no evidence for it and everyone around me who talked abt it (family, church) believes that, so i did too. and tbh i just straight up did not ever think about it that much until maybe a few years ago? when i was finally like “ohhhh” and learned that there’s so much Evidence for evolution and realized how that does not mesh with creationism at all. genuinely this is really embarrassing for me to admit but it’s literally just a belief that i had never even realized i needed to investigate before.

SO ANYWAY. my question. as i get older. as i encounter and have close relationships with more and more people who were not raised like me (thank g*d). i am slowly discovering more and more things that were just a Given to me are not at all for maybe everyone else? but i dont know and im too afraid to ask, generally. the way evolution is talked abt in my family is as if it’s just some weird ridiculous conspiracy theory. would i be right to assume that possibly most people? at least most people who aren’t christian (?) do not hold this view of evolution?

even if u don’t like Think about evolution or ponder it that much or w/e do u generally believe that evolution is in fact real, and did happen and is how we got here vs a creator?

grateful to everyone for wanting to help me being concerned abt my wellbeing and wanting me to be successful etc etc i do think i should be allowed to give up and fail if it’s what i want tho tbh
