Breeding Update: Contra Luz (2)

LONG TIME NO SEE, I am sort of on a semi-hiatus.
I hatched my second nest for the project on December 2nd.
The first hatchling was a female coatl, with the colors Abyss/Pink/Thicket, which are 5 away from the goal primary, 5 away from the goal secondary, and 2 away from the goal tertiary colors. (Total off is 12)
Tumblr media
The second hatchling was also female. Her colors were Overcast/Red/Aqua, so she is 2 away from the goal primary color, 9 away from the goal secondary, and is within the goal tertiary colors! (Total off is 11)
Tumblr media
The final hatchling was a male. His colors were Overcast/Carmine/Mint, making him 2 away from the goal primary, 6 away from the goal secondary, and within the goal tertiary range!
Tumblr media
Needless to say, I chose the male to become the next in the Contra line. I was easily able to find a female to breed him to whos colors were Sky/Rose/Seafoam, making her within the Primary and Tertiary ranges and 7 away from the goal secondary. Her primary gene is also Iridescent!
Tumblr media
Here is a breeding card displaying their ranges and genes:
Tumblr media
They have roughly a 0.25297619% chance of creating a coatl with an Iridescent Sky primary with a magenta secondary. I plan on breeding the above pair until I get the combo that I need. Also, offspring of this combo would be compatible with the back up breeder I had at the start of the project, Contra II

Breeding Update: Contra Luz
Related Notes: https://askurasakifr.tumblr.com/post/648118962330238977/breeding-notes-contra-luz-opal
Hatched a nest for this project today! Results are a little disapointing, but to be expected.
The first hatchling is a Coatl Female, colors Lapis/Strawberry/Radioactive and the Primary Gene is Starmap. Her colors are 2 away from goal Primary, 9 away from goal Secondary, and 18 away from goal Tertiary. (total off is 29)
Tumblr media
The second hatchling is a Coatl Male, colors Abyss/Maroon/Thicket and the Primary Gene is Iridescent. His colors are 5 away from goal Primary, 11 from goal Secondary, and 2 away from goal Tertiary. (total off is 18)
Tumblr media
lBoth offspring at this point could be considered viable to continue breeding. I could continue breeding the parents as well, but having about a 0.1% chance to get what I want would means it could take dozens upon dozens of nests to get the coatl I need, which would be years of breeding. I went to search for mates for the above hatchlings. Searching for mates is a particularly difficult task. I was searching up to 20 colors away from the target colors.
For the female, I found a coatl with the Iridescent Primary gene and the colors Aqua/Silver/Navy. When seeing how they would breed with one another, their percentage of getting a goal combo was less than the female's parents, at 0.08%. Being the only viable male on the AH I don't have any other options for her at the time being. For the male hatchling, I found a coatl with the Wasp Primary gene and the colors Blue/Moon/Steel. She is 4 away from the goal primary color, 13 away from the goal secondary, and 8 away from the goal Tertiary. (total off is 25) When paired together, they have a 0.34449768% chance of giving the right color combo and a 0.1721484% chance of the right combo plus the iridescent gene, giving the pair slightly better chances of creating the desired genetics than the parents.
In conclusion, I will be keeping the male, buying his mate, and breeding them together to see what I can get. His sibling and parents will be exalted to avoid getting bloodlines crossed or extra breedings from the parents that could result in making the current progress useless. The new pair is set to breed on May 20th, 2021

Breeding Notes: Galaxy Opal
Here are my current notes about one of my projects, Galaxy Opal. This post will be edited with updates to the notes, such as breeding pairs being used, dragons resulting from said pairs, and the finished project. This post will be reblogged/linked when these updates occur.
Tumblr media
Galaxy Opal is a breeding project where the end result should be a pair of Imperials that have colors and markings based off of an Opal gemstone
The Primary Gene MUST be Abyss Crystal
The Secondary Gene MUST be Constellation, and range from Abyss to Azure
The Tertiary Gene MUST be Opal, and be in the Vermillion - Pink Range
——————-
NOTES
Breeding Candidates can be Coatl, Wildclaw, or Imperial. One should be an Imp. while the other should be an Imp. or greater rarity to "guarantee" Imperial offspring.
Primary Genes must all be in the Rare range in order to breed for Crystal easier.
Secondary Genes must all be in the Rare range in order to breed for Constellation l easier.
Tertiary Genes must all be in the Rare range in order to breed for Opal easier.
——————-
BREEDING PAIRS
Tumblr media
Father has the Primary Color, within Secondary Range , and 20+ from Tertiary Range - https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/67803788 Mother has the Primary Color, within Secondary Range, and is 7 away from Tertiary Range. - https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/63631454
Probability for Desired Genetics: 9.34939968% Chance of correct color combo 1.16867472% Chance of correct color combo with correct genes (Both calculated as Imperial Offspring) Best outcome would be to get a Perfect Combo Second Best Outcome would be to get a a Crystal Primary, Azure Constellation Secondary, and Tertiary in the correct range as Abyss/Abyss mates are easier to find than Abyss/Azure mates.

Breeding Notes: Contra Luz Opal
Here are my current notes about one of my projects, Contra Luz Opal. This post will be edited with updates to the notes, such as breeding pairs being used, dragons resulting from said pairs, and the finished project. This post will be reblogged/linked when these updates occur.
Tumblr media
Contra Luz Opal is a breeding project where the end result should be a pair of coatls that have colors and markings based off of an Opal gemstone.
The Primary Gene MUST be iridescent, and be either the color Cornflower or Sky
The Secondary Gene MUST be Magenta Toxin
The Tertiary Gene MUST be either Smoke or Ringlets, and should range between Cyan and Jade.
-------------------
NOTES
Breeding Canidates can be Coatl or Wildclaw. (I am not looking to breedchange, it costs too much ^^;)
Primary Genes must all be in the Rare range in order to breed for Iridescent easier.
Secondary Gene must at least be magenta, I am willing to brew scrolls.
Tertiary Genes can be both Smoke and Ringlets, or either. I am more concerned about color and could do a gene change if needed.

BREEDING PAIRS
Tumblr media
Father is 4 away from Primary Color, 14 away from Secondary Color, and 20+ from Tertiary Range - https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/65394291 Mother is 5 away from Primary Color, 2 away from Secondary, and is within Tertiary Range. - https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/63631454
Probability for Desired Genetics: 0.20480148% Chance of correct color combo 0.10240074% Chance of correct color combo with iridescent primary Best outcome would be to get a Perfect Combo Second Best Outcome would be to get a Blue-Cornflower Iridescent Primary , A secondary gene “above” Magenta, and a Tertiary color within range. Then would come the struggle of finding a suitable mate.
-------------------
SPARE BREEDERS
Contra II - https://www1.flightrising.com/dragon/68520938
3 away from Primary color. 1 away from Secondary Color. Within Tertiary Range. His Fuchsia secondary makes him “incompatible” with Luz, as they would never be able to produce a magenta Primary. He won’t be able to breed with offspring of Contra and Luz due to relation with Contra, but I’ll keep him on standby in case I can find a good mate for him or breed out the lines to make them unrelated.
Lineage Issue: Cattywhompus > Ripplestream > Contra Cattywhompus > Jenssen > Marinette > Amadeus > Contra II Theoretically, I could breed Contra II once, then breed those offspring to the offspring of Contra? Because the 5th ancestor of Contra II’s children would then be Jenssen and not Cattywhompus if my assumption is correct.

Breeding, Breeding, Breeding
Oh man, here we go.
I’m going to start off by saying that I haven’t played FR in a while. I’ve been having off and on hiatuses trying to get my life together and left my poor lair of dragons in the dust. Oops. Also, when I did that, I left behind a TON of unfinished breeding projects. Double Oops. Oh and those breeding projects? Disorderly notes EVERYWHERE. Triple Oops.
The only things I currently have even remotely under control are my rainbow breeding challenge and my bottleneck challenge. But only because they have their own threads.
Thus, I created this blog to keep track of all my breeding projects as I do them! Hopefully this will work out the way I want it to. But knowing my luck, probably not haha.
Here’s a quick look at things: Not counting my legacy of war challenge, I currently have 2 breeding challenge products. Then, I have 9 breeding pair projects (so a total of 18 dragons to breed for that). Finally, I have one fandragon breeding project. That’s 12 projects total with an outcome of 19 perma dragons that I’m trying to achieve (since the rainbow challenge is only trying to breed every color, I’m most likely not going to keep any hatchlings from that challenge). That’s a lot of dragons! And on top of limited lair space!
What I’m planning on doing is post my notes for each project up as I breed them, as well as keep a page with a list of all my projects on standby (not including my challenges as they already have a thread for each over on Flight Rising). So essentially, until I get all my breeding done, this blog will function as my breeding journal. It’ll probably be messy at first but once I figure out how tumblr works I should get a streamlined system down.
Time to officially step out on my journey!
