I got this USA map to collect my autographs and Jared immediately signed on Texas. Later, I got Jensen's autograph and after signing it, he added two dots for San Antonio and Dallas. (Jared's and Jensen's birthplaces). He had such a cute grin on his face after that. :3

The alley is maybe 20' wide, there aren't that many people around, and they're not discussing anything that suspicious out of context, especially not on a movie set. And yet they're walking closer than if they held hands, knocking elbows and poking ribs, heads leaning in.

How many times has Dean chosen Sam? And I'm not talking about Dean choosing Sam over Cas or any shipper bullshit, but in life in general. Like when Dean chose to go back with his dad in "Bad Boys" after seeing Sam in the window? Or when Dean told Billie that he "had a house full of ghosts and a brother to get back to"? Or when he told Henry that he couldn't go back to save John because Sammy was on the hook with Abaddon? Just curious if you had a tag detailing this phenomenon.

He didn’t choose to go back to Sam in 13.05. He initially said the line about the house full of ghosts and a brother to get back to, and then when she didn’t immediately send him back, he said he was bringing Sam down and if it was his time, it was his time. Which was a choice to stay dead and actively not go back to Sam. But that was still choosing Sam since it was choosing Sam’s well being over his own life

And yep, we saw young Dean choose Sam when he saw Sam playing in the back of the Impala. 

He chose Sam over killing the thing that killed Mary in 1.21, giving up on his revenge mission

He chose Sam over John’s last orders in 2.14 when Meg as Sam asked Dean to kill him to stop him from going dark

He chose Sam over his own life in 2.22 when he made the demon deal. 

He also chose to stay behind and die with Sam in Croatan

And in 3.16, he refused to let Sam try to get Ruby involved even if it would save his life because he wanted Sam to live

And he chose Sam in 4.22 after Sam chose Ruby

He chose Sam at the end of 5.04 after finding out that staying separated from Sam destroyed the world 

Although, arguably you could say he was choosing that for himself too after seeing how different he had become. And he was also ostensibly choosing Cas and Bobby and the world there too. But Sam was certainly a big part of it. 

He chose Sam when he went to Stull Cemetery just so Sam wouldn’t be alone when he died

He chose Sam over Lisa and Ben in 6.02. 

Again, you could say he was also choosing hunting and the life he was missing but Sam definitely played a huge part in that too. 

He chose Sam’s soul over Adam’s when Death told him to pick one

He chose Sam over Benny

He chose Sam over saving the world from demons

He chose keeping Sam safe (or so he thought) over letting Cas stay in the bunker (9.03)

If you want to talk in technicalities, he has chosen Sam over his own mental health too (9.13)

He chose Sam over the destruction he knew he would cause to the world in 10.23

He chose Sam when he begged Billie to take him instead in Red Meat

And in 11.20, he chooses Sam by refusing to leave the deadly fog

He chooses Sam over his own better judgement when Sam lies about working with the British Men of Letters and wants Dean to join him. And Dean doesn’t want to lose him like he feels like he’s lost Mary.

And that takes us all the way through the seasons and back to Dean choosing Sam’s well being over his own life in 13.05

Basically, Dean has chosen Sam over pretty much everything else, a hell of a lot of times.

Ahhhhh, Ana, I can only agree! Conventions are such a special experience! Memories to treasure. And besides interactions with our dear SPN cast that somehow turn out even better and more special than one could imagine (especially with Jared and Jensen in my experience) what makes cons so special is the people you meet. And meeting you was such a privilege! I hope to see you again in more cons!

That reminds me of how we ACTUALLY met, lol. Let me tell that story:

@trials-era-sam and me knew each other from tumblr. @ghost-go-roasty-mctoasty too, but @trials-era-sam and me had made plans to meet at JiB and thus exchanged pictures, so we would recognise each other and planned on texting till we would find us.

At the convention we hadn't met or texted yet. @takikojou and me were on our way back from the airport where we had lunch. Those two girls were walking towards us in the long airport walkway tunnel, wearing purple dog shirts. As we passed each other I commented:"I like your shirts" and they said thank you.

Later that day we texted and found each other and I realised it was @trials-era-sam and @ghost-go-roasty-mctoasty 's shirts I had commented on, lol. (Or did only you, Ana, wear a purple dog shirt? Can't remember.)

Gonna get chick-flick-momenty for a minute if you don’t mind!!!!!

In 2018 I told myself, “it’s already season 13, the show is bound to end sooner or later and I’ve already been watching this show and been obsessed with it for almost 10 years, I HAVE to meet Jared this year.” I got incredibly lucky that this was the one and only year Creation decided to host a con in Birmingham, UK, a city I’d already been to and felt comfortable going to on my own (unlike Rome haha) and that very first con was AMAZING. Had a great photo op with Jared - but most of all, got to meet my amazing friend @malnourishedsamdean who became my convention buddy. We’ve now gone to three more cons together, only one of which Jared did not cancel - whether he was there or not though, he may be our fave but we had tons of fun and made up for it by meeting more of the cast!!!! - and it would have been four had I not made stupid financial decisions, but oh well. I’ll always treasure these memories with C and hope to make more, and we also met some amazing people there!!!!

Then last year I went to my first JIBcon, finally confident enough to do it having been to Rome in the meantime, but mostly confident because I was going with the wonderful @schielegon and had SUCH a fun time ♥️♥️♥️ the events were incredibly fun (especially a meet and greet where Jared gave me the very last question 🥰) BUT the highlight was definitely meeting this gal I just tagged as well as @ghost-go-roasty-mctoasty , @arwenadreamer , @takikojou and other lovely people <333

There was also that one con that C and I booked on my 28th birthday and only got to go when I was 31, but I don’t think I need to explain why, no one needs the reminder lol. It was SO worth the wait - especially because our beloved @jellybracelet got to come with us <3333

JIB was so amazing I nagged her and @seanwinchester to come this year, and we just had the most wonderful, wonderful weekend because these guys are the most fun, and met more lovely people 🥰🥰 can’t even put it into words because of the sleep deprivation but I’m still floating on that high!!!!

And now that I’ve told my life story as if I was a fan asking Jared and/or Jensen a question,

TL;DR - I feel so, so incredibly lucky and happy. I really hope this doesn’t come across as braggy and I’m sorry if it does - I genuinely, genuinely want everyone to experience stuff like this. It’s the absolute best. I don’t think another show would have provided me with the happiness, the memories and the FRIENDS this show has. I’m so grateful to all of you and also to the cast who will never read this ♥️♥️♥️♥️ they say never to meet your heroes but my interactions with Jared have been so great, he really is as kind and funny and sunshiny as he seems (yes I know I am parasocializing hard idc) and, as I don’t think I’m stopping cons now because they’re so addicting (HOW HAVE I ALREADY BEEN TO SIX. IT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE ONE), I’m so excited to meet more of you in the future <33333 I love you all so so so so much this is the best community ever!!!!!!!!!

Also now that it’s on yt for everyone to see and while I’m pouring my heart out, hi! I’m Anaëlle. Please continue to call me Ana <33 but know that I freaked out hard when Danneel’s character had my name in the show lmao

Question: I want to know what was your most favorite unscripted scene or your least favorite scripted scene or moment?

Jared: Oh wow. Great question. I'm thinking about a moment where -

Jensen: Wait, let me guess - I punched you?

Jared: Yep, where Sam gets possessed by the Meg demon and finally gets exorcised, but he had been like, kinda torturing Dean? And so Dean reaches over, after Sam is back to Sam, like 'What happened?' and just punches him? That was in season two, Jesus.

Jensen: That wasn't scripted.

Jared: That wasn't scripted. There's so much that wasn't necessarily scripted, you know? Certain moments - one of my least favorite things, maybe my least favorite thing that any writer can put into a script? Is like, Dean cries, Sam breaks down, Dean tears up, Sam and you know, whatever, do this. 'Cause there were so many, if you were to go through all of the scenes of Supernatural, which there are many? And then watch the episodes, rarely was there a sequence where it was like they get emotional where we did and there was so many where they don't even mention that we get emotional, but you just feel it. You're just there and you're like - I hate it where it's like, this is where I'm supposed to cry [derisive noise]. 'Cause sometimes you don't even know, you'll go through a scene and you'll go, like, oh shit, like, that's hittin' deep. And it's not because it's scripted. So offhand, God -

Jensen: I think there's a lot of moments, especially some of the emotional moments. One comes to mind, which is the barn scene -

Audience: Which one?

Jensen: [slightly incredulous tone] Which one?

Jared: The most recent one.

Jensen: Yeah.

Jared: Genius.

Jensen: Where I'd be interested to go back and look - and I can't remember if - maybe they didn't use it, go back and read that scene on the script and see how word for word it was on the performance. Because I feel like there were takes where I know I would maybe repeat myself, or I would say some things that I thought were, you know, dove into the emotion even more. And it wasn't something I'd planned, it's just like - felt it, you just feel something and if - when you've worked with somebody for so long, and you're so comfortable with the character, and you know the story so well, you can be available for those things to hit and you can act on them, and you can say those words, and you can say something that just makes it feel more real. And I feel like we did that in that scene, there was some dialogue that maybe was added -

Jared: It's a lot. I know, yeah.

Jensen: or massaged, or you know.

Jared: I don't know if it was ever added to a revision, or if we just did it, but the callback of, like, I can't do this alone, yes you can, well I don't want to? It's the exact same words that Dean said to Sam and vice versa. So there was stuff that wasn't scripted initially - and that goes back to an earlier question, about if there's stuff like Jensen do whatever you want. Like the feeling of that scene was like, here guys, we know this intense -

Jensen: Here's the template.

Jared: here's the template, make it y'all's. Like, y'all know Sam and Dean more than anybody ever will, you make it yours. And so he and I had a couple months because then COVID happened, the pandemic, and so we made it ours. It was so hard to rehearse that scene.

Jensen: Well, even the - like it was scripted where I was on the ground. [Jared: Yeah.] And Jared comes up and kind of cradles me and I'm, you know, like, effectively dying in his arms.

Jared: Which would have been so long to try and carry your ass.

Jensen: And I just felt really strongly, and I've told this story before, and I went to Bob Singer, who directed that episode, I went to him a couple days prior just thinking about that scene, because it was a monster, and it was looming. And I just - it didn't feel right, to die laying down. And I said, hey, is there any way - because they were still building the set - I was like, is there any way, can we figure out a way for me to die on my feet? And Bob was like, [curmudgeonly voice] how the hell are you gonna do that? Who dies on their feet? And I'm like, Dean Winchester dies on his feet. And he made it work brilliantly, because he came, I think he came up with the idea that the impalement was so severe that if you removed it - and then we had to add that dialogue in, so it made me stay there on my feet and I think it was just such a much more powerful visual, to see these two brothers face to face in that moment. And so, you know, that was certainly one big thing that was totally unscripted that I fought for and I'm really happy I did, because -

Jared: Hell yes.

Jensen: I think it just made that scene that much more powerful.

Jared: Also I'm grinning to myself because I've watched a lot of the 15x20 reaction videos, the finale? And there's some really savvy tv viewers out there who've seen a lot of different television shows, a lot of different episodes of them. And you'll watch some and they'll be like, 'Oh, yeah, oh Sam's takin' on the big guy, oh yeah take that blah blah blah!' And then when Dean goes to the post and then runs out where it shows, they'll be like, 'Yeah - oh no. Oh c'mon now, no no no, they just showed that for too long - Oh shit! And then, like, turn it off because I'm crying.

Jensen: I still love the fact that the stunt guy, who is awesome, he's like ex-military, giant, one of the biggest guys we've ever had on our show, his name was Heidi. And he killed Dean Winchester [laughs]. But he's an awesome guy and in fact I was just in Vancouver and working with Jesse and Jesse and Heidi are like super close buds now, so it was good to kinda reminisce with those guys a little bit.

Sam may have been fed demon blood as a child and thus felt like he was tainted with evil, bound for a dark, demonic destiny. But his blood was pure enough to turn a demon human. And isn't that a beautiful 180° turn in that story? Rather than succumbing to the demon blood fed to him Sam turned it around and gave a demon his humanity back.
