I feel like every single primordial eliatrope has a curse they have to deal with whether they realize it or not.

It was obvious with Qilby’s case, but with the other primordials, not so much. Maybe it’s because Qilby’s curse outshines them all which is why we don’t really realize what the others might be dealing with.

Glip’s gift: Gifted with the will and dedication to teaching the history of the eliatropes to the next generation.

Glip’s curse: His copious source of knowledge for the Eliatrope children has to be studied and memorized and repeated over and over again so he can transfer it again and again, essentially teaching the same thing for eternity.

Mina’s gift: Gifted with the wisdom to solve all the quarrels that could divide their people.

Mina’s curse: Has to constantly solve the problems of others no matter how small it may be in her eyes.

Yugo’s gift: Gifted with the heroic passion to adventure, travel, and protect his people.

Yugo’s curse: Constantly lives in danger. He can never rest from it all because his warrior spirit cannot allow it.

Nora’s gift: Gifted with innocence and being free-spirited. To preserve these feelings and spread them to the people.

Nora’s curse: Innocence easily gets ruined.

Chibi’s gift: Gifted with the brilliant mind to invent.

Chibi’s curse: All inventions made for his people rest on his shoulders. One fatal mistake and everything crumbles. He has to be careful if the invention properly works.

Part zero: Epilogue All Eliatropes have heard the tale of Qilby. Qilby the Traitor. They’ve heard of his curse, how the boredom and loneliness of it drove him insane. They know of the curse of Qilby. But did they ever wonder why he and his twin sister, Shinonome, were the only ones to receive such an infliction? Why weren’t the rest of The Firstborns born with curses of their own? Or, what if they were, but no one ever knew?

Part one: The Prophets

Chibi sat upright in his bed, lungs gasping for air and clothing soaked with sweat. He frantically looked around for his dragon brother, Grogoul, but could not find him. His breathing quickened and his blood ran cold. Fear gripped his chest. With no other options he did only what he could. He wailed. His cries rang throughout the inn and he soon heard frantic feet pounding on the floor. Chibi clutched his blanket tighter to himself as he continued to cry. “𝘠𝘶𝘨𝘰. 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯. 𝘍𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘥. 𝘋𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩. 𝘋𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯” The little boy’s mind repeated nonstop. The door opened. He cried harder as he prepared for the wave to drown him. But there was no wave, no water. It was his father, Alibert. “Papa…?” Chibi whispered tentatively. His father rushed to his bedside in an instant, “Chibi!”, he gasped, “what’s wrong, my little tofu?” Alibert looked at the empty side of the bed, “and where’s your brother?”. Chibi flung himself into his father’s arms. “I don’t know! Papa, I don’t know!” Alibert soothed his son’s white, fluffy hair, “shhhh, don’t worry, sweetheart, we’ll find hi-“ Alibert was cut off by the sound of shuffling under the bed. He peered down, “Grogoul?” He asked. Sure enough, it was the dragon youngling. His eyes were narrowed and fire flamed from his maw in tiny bursts. But he was shaking, and despite his best efforts to appear tough, there was fear in his eyes. “Oh my boys…” Alibert whispered mournfully. It was difficult to wedge Grogoul out from under the bed, but once the dragon caught sight of his twin’s frightened face he flew right into his arms. Their father gently put them back under the covers and softly stroked their heads. “It’s ok, now my dears” he said soothingly, “it was just a nightmare”. “No!” Chibi shouted, shocking his father, “it isn’t ok! Yugo! Yugo’s gonna die! He’s dying! He’s poisoned and everyone will drown!” Tears were streaming down the boy’s face and his brother was frantically nodding his head. “Oh”, was all Alibert could say. What a horrible nightmare those boys have just experienced. They’ve shared dreams often, apparently something common for Eliatrope and dragon twins, but nothing this terrifying. It seems to have shaken the poor boys to their bones. “Chibi, Grogoul, you saw Yugo just last week. He’s fine” Chibi shook his head “he won’t be papa…” the child’s voice cracking with tears, “he won’t be…”

Part two: the innocents Nora and Efrim ran through the vibrant fields happily. Dancing and singing as they collected flowers for their youngest siblings. Yugo and Adamaï have just recently hatched. The two boys had a terrible habit of dying the most often out of all their siblings, usually the result of some grand adventure. Although their deaths always made their brother and sister sad, Nora and Efrim always made sure to greet them with the most beautiful flowers and songs their home had to offer. And they’d be lying if they said they didn’t enjoy playing with the babies, no matter how selfish some might think that was. They couldn’t help it, at that age Yugo and Adamaï were filled with just as much innocence and wonder as they were. It was always such a breath of fresh air from the rest of their stuffy, overly serious siblings. Chibi, Grogoul, Qilby, Shinonome, Mina, Phearis, Glip and Balthazar never wanted to have any fun. Even Yugo and Adamaï would always become more stiff and boring as their roles as their peoples’ protecters (and sometimes kings) would take root. All any of them would ever do was talk about politics; new rules or laws, management of the schools and businesses, what to plan for that years harvest, etc. They were always such bores, having younger brothers to play with will be nice. Nora soon saw a beautiful blue Elias flower blooming up ahead, “Efrim!,” she pointed, “what about that o-“ Nora was cut off by a scream of agony leaving her mouth, over the volume of her own voice she could hear Efrim crying out the same. The twins collapsed on the flowery field as they convulsed in pain. Then they heard a familiar voice, screaming in their minds, “𝙉𝙊! 𝙉𝙊! 𝙉𝙊! 𝙈𝙔 𝘾𝙃𝙄𝙇𝘿𝙍𝙀𝙉! 𝙈𝙔 𝘾𝙃𝙄𝙇𝘿𝙍𝙀𝙉! 𝙋𝙇𝙀𝘼𝙎𝙀! 𝙎𝙏𝙊𝙋 𝙏𝙃𝙄𝙎 𝙏𝙊𝙍𝙏𝙐𝙍𝙀 𝘼𝙉𝘿 𝙇𝙀𝙏 𝙈𝙀 𝙍𝙀𝙏𝙐𝙍𝙉 𝙏𝙊 𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙈! 𝙇𝙀𝙏 𝙈𝙀 𝙍𝙀𝙏𝙐𝙍𝙉 𝙏𝙊 𝙈𝙔 𝘾𝙃𝙄𝙇𝘿𝙍𝙀𝙉! 𝙋𝙇𝙀𝘼𝙎𝙀! 𝙎𝙏𝙊𝙋!” The voice was deafening but there was no mistaking it. It was their mother. Nora withered and cried, she doesn’t know why but it felt as if her very Wakfu was being drained from her being. Nora fought through the agonizing pain to reach for her brother, desperate for something to hold onto, but she could barely move. The more she tried the more her vision blurred. A single thought enters her mind before darkness consumes her “𝘔𝘰𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳… 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶…?”
