Mastery Journal: Multimedia Adaptation
Truthfully this is the first time that I had considering wanting to write for because of this class I honestly had no intentions of pursuing a writing career in tv/film video games and books have always been the main goal for me. I truly enjoyed this month’s class and haven’t felt that way about a class for some time now.
Something that I took away from this class this month; how to identify the key importance of the story the thing or the element that made it unique make that my own with my perspective on how I saw or wanted the story to go. I now have a better understanding of what I should be looking for when I write a story.
Over the past four weeks, I have had to take the story “The Gift of the Magi” by O. Henry and turn it into my own adaptation while keeping the essence of the story. It was first updated to a modern time and the point of view was changed from her perspective to his. Another thing that was done to make this adaptation my own was adding a sci-fi element to the script.

Gamification and Media Convergence (Mastery Assignment)
Chick fil a has an app that is both a gamification and media convergence. It allows the user to earn points by ordering food, and then use those points to order food based off the points earned, and the user can also apply their credit card to it and pay for their meals with ease.
Duolingo is a language learning gamification app. Users like myself can play games while learning a new language, but how you learn is where it becomes a game, by this I mean users can match words, write sentences, or translate from the language into English.
Capital One also has a type of gamification to it as well, for myself if I pay on time and don't miss a payment they reward me with a credit increase of $300. This reward is every five months or five consecutive payments.

Inspiration: Stan Lee
Myers (2014).
I have always been a fan of comic books since early childhood, such a fan that my grandfather started collecting them for me and I would have a second copy to read. Back at that age, I did not care to notice which one I preferred over another until I really started to develop a taste for the stories. X-men has been a crucial part of my life from the very first classic issues to the uncanny series. A few years ago at Mega Con here in the Orlando, FL area, I had a chance to meet one of my heroes from the comic world. I shook his hand to a picture of him, and he signed two of my favorite comics. That day was one of the most fabulous days of my life to see the man Stan Lee that is an idol of mine from my childhood.
