what are your favourite fics
Goodness, where do I start?!
My absolute all time favourite is Long live living (if living can be this). It is everything, and I read it whenever I feel anxious, like on aeroplanes or when insurgents storm the Capitol.
I read Blends and I thought 'Could I write that? With fart jokes?' which is how Ever Thus was born. I just think it's brilliant and it improves on each re-read.
Let Nothing You Dismay is the only fic I think is truly perfect. Oh, that I could write like this!
The PB to my J. I love it. I've read it three times. It's so grungy and British and fun. I could talk about it all day.
Anything by @eyra, but Beneath a Big Blue Sky is so bloody lovely, and is prompting daily thoughts about moving to a farm in Yorkshire. I think Eyra deserves so much more recognition and I devour everything they write. (If you're reading this, I would really like you to finish the Freedom & Whisky series at some point, but no pressure!)
Petty (with a prior) has everything that I love in a fic. Cor, yes.
I also adore all of the feminist brilliance of @aibidil, plus anything by @tepre, and @tackytigerfic who are all tremendous writers.

Eyra’s Favorite Fics
Highland Fling by @picascribit
My ultimate comfort fic. American Sirius backpacking across Scotland. It has mountains, it has whisky, it has everything. It’s perfect. Cannot recommend this fic highly enough.
Time is a Fine Invention by @bluepeon-y
My other comfort fic. A university AU with a hilarious Sirius and a rough, misanthropic Remus. The thing I love about this story is how imperfect their whole relationship is - how they sort of drive each other mad but can’t help falling together anyway.
Finest in Fairford by @bluepeon-y
A delightful little coffee shop AU. This one has always stuck with me - it just has such a lovely feel about it. Short, sweet, and perfect.
Long Live Living (If Living Can Be This) by @excaliburned
Summer in a castle, so obviously I love it. And it’s laugh out loud funny. There’s also this one paragraph that I find so incredibly beautiful and poignant - my fatal flaw is a constant, aching nostalgia for my own romanticised past and my god, does excaliburned capture that here:
“The thing about significant periods of your life ending is that they never feel like quite as significant as you think they should. Sirius was a little bit idealistic and had a tendency to get too caught up in notions of how he expected things to be, and always got a little bit unnerved when they didn’t play out as like he’d imagined. It wasn’t a perfectionist thing or a control freak thing by any means, it was more of a childlike trait. He expected things to feel a certain way, and when they didn’t, it left him slightly at a loss. Of course, just like he’d been reminding himself at the start of this final week, he knew that when he looked back on this it would feel like a big deal then. It was like a skyscraper; the further away you got, the more impressive it became.”

A Brief History of Dragons
If you want all my signature tells in one place, you’ll find them here. A cosy café with lots of warm tea, a cottage on a hillside, a neurodivergent Remus, reams and reams of folklore and myth and history, and me, banging on about the weather every other paragraph (I’m British, it’s what we do).
Hollow Places
More weather! More tea! This is the only one of my stories that isn’t non-magical (although it is still an AU - no Hogwarts here) and it was strangely liberating to have a go at bending reality around the quiet, primal powers that Sirius finds deep in the forest.
Statten Park
Spend the weekend at Sirius’s obscenely lavish country estate in the height of summer. Another thing I really enjoy writing about is food - I just love describing food - and there’s plenty of that at Statten Park. Read for lazy picnics on the lawn, gallons of champagne, and James Potter being an absolute delight.
The Proctor House
Sirius and Remus in a village, in the past, picking apples and falling in love and falling apart, together.
Beneath a Big Blue Sky
My current WIP, with just a few chapters left to post. This story is my love letter to Yorkshire - expect green fields, rolling hills, fluffy white lambs, and long, hazy afternoons spent in a sunlit barn.

Arthur: are you sure??
Molly: Am I sure that I'm right and you're wrong? Always.
*Knock at the door*
Molly: That must be them!!
Ron: HARRY!!!!
Harry: RON!!!!
Molly: Hi Remus!
Remus: Hey, Molly, this is Harry's other dad, Sirius.
Sirius: Helloooooooo
*a few moments later*
Arthur: Harry has two dads! :)
Molly: Nothing gets past you, Arthur...

The best laid plans
Summary: Remus reflects on the different ways Sirius says ‘I love you’.
Sirius didn’t say ‘I love you’ out loud very often. Other people might have had their concerns. They might have felt insecure, knowing they said ‘I love you’ so much more than their boyfriend did. But Remus knew Sirius. Maybe he didn’t say it out loud, but Remus never had a doubt in his mind that he was loved.
Three taps meant ‘I love you’. Remus had noticed it first in the common room the day after he and Sirius had started going out.
Holding hands made studying a little difficult, but Remus wouldn’t have traded it for the world. He and Sirius were studying (or well; Remus was studying and Sirius was playing with Remus’ hand).Remus had just sighed and begun to read his notes aloud in the hopes that something would stick in his boyfriend’s head. Padfoot had looked up in surprise, something tender showing in his eyes before Remus’s hand was squeezed three times. One, two, three. I love you.
Remus had just squeezed back and continued reading.
