Well, after running this blog for about a year now - I decided it’s finally time for me to move on from discussing this ship (and being part of this fandom overall).
I would like to thank all of you so, so much for your support and contribution!
It really means a lot to me that I was able to find so many other people who felt the same way I did after watching the finale. I’m also happy I was able to help some of you too!
I honestly would like to move on from this fandom/ship for good though, and I really don’t want anything to do with it anymore…
I still feel irritated when I see C//A being praised (for all the reasons I’ve mentioned multiple times throughout this blog), and I’m probably still going to for a while. Unfortunately, I can’t really avoid it though, because I still manage to see it in other fandoms that have nothing to do with She-Ra.
I also still can’t stand seeing it be compared to other WLW ships, like B//umbleby and L//umity; but hopefully through time, they’ll be so many more new LGBT+ characters and (healthier!!) couples in the future, that C//A will be nothing more than a faded memory that no one ever talks about anymore.
I just hope I never see another highly unhealthy LGBT+ (or honestly, even a cishet) ship become canon (especially in a kid’s show) ever again.
Anyway…
I’m going to keep this blog up for 1 week, if any of you would like to scroll through this blog to like/reblog posts - then I’m deactivating this account.
It’s hard knowing a show you followed excitedly from the beginning turned out to pair the main character with her life-long abuser in the end. It’s very triggering, especially since so many thousands (maybe even millions?) of people actively paint these two as “relationship goals”.
I just went on my TikTok because I'm bored and for some reason the first vid I see is C//A. The girl was going on and on about how it's "soooo homoeroticcccc 🥵🥵🥵💗✨" and all the people were like "omg I know🥵" and "antis are just homophobic 🤡🤡🤡" and I sat there thinking the obvious question, DID WE WATCH THE SAME SHOW??? Ah yes, because her digging her cat claws into her back is "soooo hooottt". End me this ship is so gross.
No//elle decides to make an aggressive, animalistic character, voiced by a white woman, to be a “woman of color” -
but for some reason, everyone in the main She-Ra fandom is ok with this?
Also, I’m willing to bet real money if Catra physically looked liked more Glimmer (a chubby human), and Glimmer physically looked more like Catra (a sexy cat girl) - the fandom would have had VERY different stances on C//A and Glimma//dora.
I 100% agree she’s not a woman of color. I’m just quoting Catra Stans.
They call people racist for hating Catra, but I’ve NEVER ONCE seen any of them call anyone racist for hating Glimmer (or other characters for that matter) - who are actual human people of color characters voiced by actual actors of color.
They just can’t wrap their heads around the fact that people hate her because of what she did to Adora. Not because of her “race”.
“Why does Catra, a lesbian woman of color get so much hate??”
I have a better question...
Why do so many Catra Stans hate Glimmer?
You know a fat, bisexual, and ACTUAL woman of color character??
