I’m mainly writing this as an outlet for my feelings, because I don’t really have anyone to rant or talk about these feelings to. Honestly if anyone wants to write how they hate me for this, I am 99% sure I will ignore it but feel free to comment away. So here it goes….

My sister sent me a tiktok a couple of weeks ago about how Harry becoming overexposed in social media might eventually start annoying people. I didn’t feel that way at the time, but I understood what that video was talking about. Now though, I am starting to feel that way. I’ve been working on clearing my Instagram Explorer feed of any Harry Styles content, because quite honestly it was starting to become too much. I still adore his music, but I can’t help but also feel some disappointment as well in regards to the whole Olivia Wilde situation. I mean it’s his dating life, no one can control that but him, but why does it seem that he gravitates towards people who have done or said some problematic shit? Like with Olivia currently, i have *a lot* of thoughts there. There have been several tone deaf, ignorant, and insensitive remarks from her spanning YEARS. Laughing at a racist joke about asians during an award show and then telling “haters” to “loosen up” after that backlash. Her “Olivia Land” monologue, her remarks of comparing a career change to “coming out of the closet, her controversial portrayal of Kathy Scruggs in Richard Jewell, seemingly willing to work with known abusers, her appearing to only call out sexism when it is beneficial for her, and most recently everything with Don’t Worry Darling. I don’t need to explain that whole Florence/Olivia/Shia thing, but I just want to remark on the movie itself. I have not watched it, and I don’t have plans to watch it. It wasn’t because of the drama, but I just didn’t find the movie appealing when I watched the trailer when it first came out. Now though, I don’t think I’ll be watching it because of the statements that have been made about the movie by its director. I have been reading all of the spoilers, just to see what it’s all about.

SPOILER & TRIGGER WARNING

So from what I know about the movie, Alice was forced into this simulated 1950’s world by Jack. It also seems that Alice in the real world is under some sort of coma. Meaning Harry’s character, Jack, has been taking advantage of her comatose body in the real world. So with the sex in the movie that Olivia has been raving about during the press tour and just whenever she talks about it, she has been commenting highly about this movie being all about “female pleasure.” I don’t see what’s pleasurable about a woman who was forced into this simulated world and this man is having sex with her unconscious body. That is rape. To say this movie is about female pleasure is disgusting. For this movie to be all about female pleasure, the entire plot would have to be under the right circumstances, and this movie ain’t it. Promote the movie about it being on female oppression and bring awareness about assault, but don’t go around promoting it as a Feminist anthem or some shit. I don’t know if anyone else involved has been saying that this movie is about “female pleasure,” or just calling it a feminist movie in general, but I’d be disappointed and angry at that person as well.

I’ll say it again, but I can’t help but feel disappointed in Harry that he continues to be with someone who is so openly and unapologetically saying all these things for several years now. He preaches Treat People With Kindness, but it comes off that he is dismissive of what his loved ones say publicly, and if that’s the case it doesn’t really feel like Treat People With Kindness to me. if I dated someone and I find out all of the things they have done and said that have hurt a large population of people, and continues to say and do horrible things, I would not want to associated with them anymore if they’re morals are different from my own.

Okay so following up on this. I just watched the teaser for My Policeman. Even though it was only a teaser, so far THAT movie looks more interesting and appealed to me more than Don’t Worry Darling.

Unpopular opinion, but I just finished watching the trailer for Don’t Worry Darling, and I quite honestly don’t really know if I’ll watch it. I don’t really know how to feel about the trailer right now, but it didn’t really get me excited to see the movie 😂
