She watched him circle the beer in his glass before putting the bottle to his lips. She watched him eat a popcorn and dropping another on his shirt, carefully she picked it up and put it in her mouth with a small smile. She watched him breath heavy and pull her into his arms against his naked body and she never wanted to leave. She watched him step outside the shower with droplets from his hair. She watched him cook her a late night dinner while she sipped on red wine. And she never wanted to stop watching him.

They had been stealing glances of one another all night since their flirty conversation. In the corner of her eye she saw how his friends started to pack their things to leave and she felt disappointed even though it probably was for the best. She was talking to her friend when she felt a hand on her right shoulder and then her left. "I'm leaving now. I'll see you again right?" "You will." She said but in all honesty, it was probably for the best if they didn't. He was only going to hurt her and she was only going to hurt him but they both could dream. He gave her one last flirty smile before he left her still feeling his grip around her shoulder.

"It's a great icebreaker, don't you think?" He smirked and she let out a small chuckle. "It certainly is and forces one to look right into your eyes." "Don't know if that's a good thing." She stared right into his beautiful blue eyes and he couldn't help but let his gaze drop to her red lips for a short second. "They're beautiful, it's a good thing." "Thank you." There was hardly any space between them due to the loud music and the alcohol in their blood. The short silence that followed his thank you was filled with sexual tension but all of a sudden she stepped back, smirked and said "I need some air. I'll see you later."  He watched her go and his friends who all had witnessed their conversations smirked.

She folded a shirt and put it inside her closet. Her hand grabbed the next shirt and she immediately knew. There it was, the all too familiar light blue shirt that she always borrowed even though it suited him way better. It used to make her smile and think of him. Now it was merely a painful reminder of what they had and had lost. He didn't want it back, she didn't want to keep it.  She held the shirt in her hand before carefully folding it and putting it in his drawer. Someday she would be strong enough to throw it away but not now, not today. With a sad smiled she closed his drawer.

Confident strides, a playful look on her face and untouchable. She wasn't the kind of woman who men instantly fell in love with at first sight, she was more than that. Talking to her was dangerous. Her words would stay in your mind and you would start drawing conclusions about how she felt for you. Those conclusions would never be true, it would stay a fantasy, she would stay your fantasy. The devil is a woman and she is the woman.

They danced and to people who didn't know them, they probably looked like lovers and not the ex lovers they were. He didn't take his eyes of her as he spun her around on the dance floor. "Love me again." He said as the dance ended and she gave him a sad smile "Never."

Her friend was talking with a man she had never met. She walked up to them and asked her friend "Won't leave without telling me, right?" Her friend shook her head and the man gave her a smile "Of course not" and then added her name. She gave him a confused look and a small smile "Do I know you or have we met before?" He let out a low chuckle "You haven't met me before but I've seen you."  He smiled and she carefully returned it before leaving them as she felt his gaze on her back.

Her smile faltered as she saw him standing in the back of the room where they were supposed to perform. He gave her a small smirk and leaned back against the wall. She tried to look around the room and avoid eye contact with him but it was impossible. He never looked away from her and every time she looked at him she felt her chest tighten. How could he still have this effect on her? ---- Their performance was done and she was collecting her things from the lounge when he walked inside. "You were great. As usual." She tried to ignore him but could feel him getting closer by the sound of his footsteps. "I miss you." She turned around only to find him blocking her way out of the lounge. "I find that hard to believe." She said and he shook his head "I've changed." "I find that even more hard to believe." He gave her a sad smile "If you'd just let me prove it to you. A second chance." "I gave you way more second chances than someone like you deserves." Her words had struck him and he took a step to the side letting her pass him without another word.  "

A man they never had seen before walked up to her friends and asked where he could find her. "She'll be here in a few minutes, would you like to have a seat?" The man thanked her friends and sat down as they studied him. "How come you're looking for her? Are you friends?" "Something like that." was the only thing he answered as he kept glancing towards the door. He knew she'd turn around if she saw him before he did. ---- She walked inside the cafeteria while struggling balancing her tray in one hand. He stood up as she entered the cafeteria making her look up from her tray. The whole cafeteria were watching them as he said "Can we talk?"  She put down her tray, opened the door and said "There's is nothing more to say. Please leave."  He kept their eye contact as he started walking towards the door she held open. Their stares equally cold but as he walked past her, he lowered his voice and said "You won't get rid of me this easy. If I want to talk, we'll talk."

"I met my soulmate tonight." He said as he walked inside the apartment he shared with two of his friends. They had left the party a moment earlier than him and was getting ready to go to bed.  His friends exchanged a glance and then one of them said "You know, she has a boyfriend." "You're joking." He said and smiled confused at his friend who only shook his head. He sat down in their couch and couldn't help but let out a chuckle. "Of course she has. Why wouldn't she?" He pulled a hand through his hair and sighed loudly. "I really thought that I stood a chance."  "You could always become friends with her." His other friend said and sat down opposite of him.  "It might sound ridiculous but" He paused and lifted his gaze from the floor to let his gaze rest at his friend "In all honesty, I think being friends with her would break my heart. The knowledge that she'd never be mine would break my heart."

His friends parted and she froze by his close presence. For a second she could feel her herself falling to pieces but without letting it show, she made an attempt to walk past him. He gently took her wrist making her stop. "Don't walk past me as if we are strangers." She let out a low and slightly mocking chuckle "What are we then?" He turned his head slightly and whispered into her ear before letting his grip of her wrist go "Way more than strangers."

The sun was setting and the party was going on inside. The two of them were standing outside on the balcony with distance between them. "You should stay away from me." He said and fixated his stare on her. "Why's that?" She asked and looked right back at him. "You're only going to get your feelings hurt."  She shook her head and picked out her package with cigarettes and lit one. She looked him straight in the eyes and said  "I don't have any feelings you can hurt."

"Need another player?" His voice boomed behind her and she slowly turned around as she recognized who it belong to.  The two teams were watching them and she faked a smile "Sure. You can join them."  His team immediately gave him the bat and she gave him a stare "Ready?" He smirked as she threw the ball, he hit it out of the park and as he did a homerun she merely rolled her eyes. .... As the game ended she left to get some more beer and he didn't waste anytime, instead he caught up with her making her stop.  "I have no interest in talking with you." She said and gave him a deadly stare. "It's a pleasure to meet you again, I've missed you." "Cut the crap. I don't know what you want but I'm not interested."  He chuckled and then made an attempt to put her hands on her waist but she slapped his hands away.  "Like I said, I've missed you." "And like I said, I have no interest in talking to you." His smirk disappeared for a second but then came back as he said "Don't be like that." She on the other hand had already turned around and walked away. She had meant what she had said, she didn't want anything to do with him.

He was starting to get irritated with the way she never stopped doubting if he really loved her and would stay. He had tried for months to show her that he had no intentions to leave her and now during an argument he threw it at her; "What's wrong with you?" She didn't even look surprised by his question and simply stated "Nothing you can fix." And that's when he saw how broken she really was, how afraid she was to let him close and he understood how stupid he had been for thinking that it would be easy for her to love him back right away. He apologized and he was now even more determined to help her to heal her broken heart and soul.
