I’m on my gardening vacation, and I am savoring the long stretches of time I have between physical tasks. What a luxury to lay on the couch on a weekday and read a novel.

Some in-flight reading for a work trip. This is authored by a friend in the customer support community who I met when we co-organized the inaugural Support Driven conference — SupConf — in 2016. Mercer is a legend and is beloved in the community, and I love that I can hear her voice as I read her book.

Back home after our daughter’s final short course swim meet (😢) ,and finally able to connect my kobo to WiFi and download a book (😌). I spent way too much time at the hotel unsuccessfully trying to connect to the hotel WiFi and when that failed, to connect to my phone’s hotspot. Three days without a novel to read! 😭. I’m so happy to be home.

I’ve always got more I want to do and learn and experience: draw, paint, listen to music, walk, hike, start a travel journal. The Less column was trickier. But one thing I drew in that column was my hand holding my phone and scrolling Instagram. Recently,…

It’s been a few years - I’m in the mood for a re-read of my favorite Daphne du Maurier. Is Rachel innocent? Is she guilty? Du Maurier is the master of ambiguity.

Freshet
n. 1. A sudden overflow of a stream resulting from a heavy rain or a thaw. 2. A stream of fresh water that empties into a body of salt water. It was this Ella who told her she was calm to the point of numbness but that underneath there was a strangled self, harboring a fast freshet of anger and rebellion. Elif Shafak, The Forty Rules of Love

Years ago, Dad told me that when life seems impossible, you should go for a run and then pour yourself a cup of coffee.
