💛 do I have any piercings? Yes. Two very basic ear piercings. Although, I would love to get more piercings someday.

🌴 desert island item? In a survival situation I would probably choose to have a machete. Or maybe a fishing pole? One of the two.

🎤 is there a song I know all the lyrics to? Yes, absolutely. A bunch actually. I used to be a live performer. I played guitar and sang at bars, clubs, and events. Also I just love music in general. Pretty much anything by peach pit I know all of the lyrics to lol

Jeans or sweats? I'm gonna go with Jeans here. While sweatpants are really comfortable, jeans give me a lot more confidence in myself. Sweatpants make me want to laze about all day and be unproductive… and that is never good for my mental health.

Coffee or tea? That's a tough one. I partake in both, and it really depends on the situation. My work often requires me to get up super early. Sometimes as early as 2AM. At that time of day I will pick coffee everytime lol. During the day though I am more of a tea person. I love hot tea with a little lemon and honey.

Snow or rain? That's another tough one. I love a good rainy day. I love the sound of rain on my window and on my roof. I love when it thunders at night as I'm falling asleep. I think I'm a rainy day girl. Though snow will always have a special place in my heart ❤️

Shower or bath? I love showers. I'm guilty of taking showers that are too long lol… especially when I am sad. However, every now and then, after a long hard day, I do love a nice bubble bath with a glass of whiskey or something :) but in general, I think I'm definitely a shower girl lol…

Hugs or handshakes? I love hugs. Usually I'm too shy to initiate a hug, but whenever I meet someone and they pull me in for a hug it honestly makes me feel pretty good:) I have a lot of respect for shameless and proud, self-declared huggers. I think that takes some confidence and I admire that. I also consider it a compliment when someone sees me and immediately wants to be that close to me (as long as it isn't creepy 😅). I was raised to be a “hand shaker”. I was literally taught when I was little to have a firm and confident grip when I shake someones hand. My dad actually made me *practice* shaking his hand. It is something that I was taught to use to display my strength, confidence and capability and to gauge other people. I think hugs are more vulnerable, and obviously more intimate. And I think because of that, I appreciate a hug a lot more :)

The experience of holding a wild bird in your hand for the first time is life changing… or at least it was for me.

These incredible creatures are all around us, yet most people are oblivious to them. To hold one in your hand… it is unforgettable.

I’ll never forget the first time I held one. When I felt its soft feathers and its beating heart beneath my finger tips… the way its little eyes looked up at me… the rush that came over me changed everything.

I fell in love with these fragile, fascinating, and beautiful animals. I adore them. And I now dedicate my life to their study and protection…

I love my job. I love my work ☺️❤️

You would think, with all of the specialized tools that bird banders use, that we would have standardized how we weigh birds. Nope. I've stuck birds into homemade paper and plastic cones, toilet paper rolls, tomato sauce cans, and film canisters. 1,500 birds later, and It's still funny everytime.

I finally banded my first Blue jay today! 😍 I’ve been waiting for so long to catch one. These corvids are really smart and are able to escape the nets quite easily. I have actually SEEN them roll themselves down and out of a net! Which is why we don’t get them very often!

I called this individual an after hatch year bird. Sex is unknown this time of year.
