Would I be allowed to use one of your art pieces as part of a 9-1-1/Lone Star Fanfic I am writing. With full credit given for the art piece used??
Hello! Firstly, I'm extremely sorry for the very late reply. I am barely on Tumblr these days. I am honoured that you like my art enough to use is as part od your fanfic. I still cannot beleive that people like my art and then want to write based on it. Also, that people still like and reblog it, more than a year after I stopped creating. Feel free to use it, thanks once again! Lots of love

Rae! Congratulations on 2500 followers! You deserve each and every one of them!
I love your fics and especially your humour!
Here's to many more!
Can I request 5. feeling their pulse from the touch promos for Tarlos? Something post 3X04 where Carlos finds reassurance feeling TK's pulse on his skin (lips or fingertips)
Congratulations once again!
Lots of love 💜
Thank you so much! This is last but not least! I went with a 3 +1 format that deals with Carlos and his anxiety and the people that have helped him through it.
-
1.
Carlos frowns as the frog slips through his fingers and splashes back into the creek. It floats along the surface for a moment before kicking its back legs and disappearing beneath the water.
He wipes his wet and muddy hands on his pants, hoping his mother won’t be too upset with him for getting them dirty. He wouldn't have to worry about it if he could wear his play clothes for lunch at Tia Lucy's on Sunday after church.
Carlos finds the whole thing kind of boring. The food is always good, but he hates the attention and how everyone treats him just because he’s the youngest. He’s almost six, but his aunts still treat him like a baby while his uncles ask him if he has a girlfriend yet.
Today he snapped. He told his Tia Camilla to leave him alone and his Tio Oliver that girls were gross.
His father reprimanded him for being rude, and his mother looked horrified. Carlos took off running around the back of the barn and across the open field. He ran until he hit the treeline and then more after that, only slowing when he found the creek and saw the frogs swimming below the surface.
As he stands up and looks around, he realizes that he doesn’t know which way he came from and that it’s starting to get dark and cold.
He left his jacket in the car, mulishly telling his mother that he didn’t need it, but as he crosses his arms and rubs his hands over his skin, he wishes he had listened.

I need a fic where to just wants to go home and see Carlos and he keeps getting interrupted by things/ people and in the end he’s like right that’s it… I’ve tried been nice but I’m past my limit (in a nice way) the people can be sorted tomorrow… and he just drives home and just lays on top of Carlos and stays there for ages :)
Hope you like it, nonnie 🤍
TK watched the clock hanging on the wall of the common room like a hawk, counting the seconds impatiently.
Thirty minutes until the end of their shift.
He closed his eyes for a second, sanding a silent prayer that they don't get a call.
Please-
The bell rang, and the collective groan the team let out was almost louder.
.
Ran a little late.
On my way out.
Good.
I just got home. Should I order dinner?
Yeah
How about- that was as far as he managed to type out before Paul intercepted him on his way out, looking a little nervous. "Hey, man, do you have a second?"
He looked down at their text thread, then resigned himself and texted Carlos that something came up and he was going to be about ten minutes late.
He smiled at his friend. "Sure, Paul."
.
"TK, wait up!"
He graoned inwardly and turned around. "Yeah, Nance?"
"We're all going out tomorrow for some drinks, are you and Carlos in?"
He started walking backwards. "I don't know," he said hurriedly, "I'll let you know tomorrow."
"But-"
"Tomorrow, Nancy," he called out.
"TK!" His father bumped into him just as he was making his hasty exit, "glad I caught you, I-"
"You didn't," he blurted out, interrupting him.
His father, bewildered, blinked at him and asked, "what?"
TK shook his head. "Can it wait?"
"I mean, yeah, but-"
"Then I'll come by tomorrow before our shift."
Nancy had caught up to him by then. "What is going on with you?" She asked, amused.
He hesitated, but then his shoulders slumped. "I haven't seen Carlos in what feels like a week, and we live in the same house," he told them mournfully, "he's at home right now, waiting for me, so if it's not life or death, can I please go home to my very hot boyfriend so that I can-"
"Okay, TMI," Nancy cried, backing away.
"Dad-"
"Go," Owen smiled, nodding at the exit, "I'll see you tomorrow, son."
.
When he got home, it was eerily quiet.
He frowned, hanging his bag on the hook by the door as he called out for Carlos.
There was no answer.
He made his way inside, and stopped dead in his tracks when he saw Carlos asleep, sprawled out on the couch, phone in hand.
He knew he should probably change and wake Carlos up for dinner, but suddenly, all he wanted to do was be close to him.
A little awkwardly, he put one knee in the V of Carlos' legs, braced himself against the back of the couch, then lowered himself down slowly, head pillowed on the other man's chest.
It only took Carlos a second to wake up. He didn't seem that surprised to find TK sprawled over him. Instead, he just tightened his arms around him. "Hi."
TK smiled and placed a kiss on his boyfriend's chest. "Hey, babe."
"How was your day?"
"Hell," he answered, burrowing closer still.
Carlos seemed more awake now. "What happened? You okay?"
"Nothing happened," he hurried to reassure him, leaning up on his elbow to look down at him. "Just missed you, and the day would not end."
Carlos smiled, eyes crinkling at the corners. He brought his hand up to settle on the back of TK's neck, and played with the hairs there. "I missed you, too."
There was a tug, then TK was pulled down and into a searing kiss that started out fierce but turned gentle. He pulled away slowly, placed one more fleeting kiss on Carlos' lips, then lay his head back down on his chest.
"You hungry?"
TK closed his eyes. "Starving."
Carlos let out a small, fond laugh. "Wanna get off me so we can order some food?"
"In a minute," he muttered, tightening his arms around him.
Carlos hummed, and pressed a kiss to his hair, the hand at TK's back moving up and down gently, lulling him into a light sleep.

On the Other Side
For @alwaysablossom who wanted some TK and Andrea comfort fic. This isn't exactly what I had in mind, I wanted it to be better, but I hope you enjoy it anyway!
@tkstrrand thank you for the beta, my love 💛
"Hello?" TK muttered into the phone, eyes still closed as he loosely held the phone up to his ear.
"TK?"
His eyes shot open. "Mr Reyes?"
"TK- are you working right now?" The older man asked, and the words sounded strained.
"I'm not. I'm at home. What- what's going on?" He asked hesitantly and then, his heart nearly stopped as a thought crossed his mind. "Is it Carlos? Is he-"
"Carlos is fine, TK," he interrupted him, "it's Andrea."
TK forgot how to breathe for a few seconds, and all he could think of in that fleeting period of time, was: Please God, don't let him go through what I did.
"-K? TK?"
He threw the covers off his body and hurried to his closet, pulling out a random shirt and sweatpants. "What happened? Is she okay?"
"She's alright," he assured him, sounding much softer than he had been at first, "it was just a small accident. But I can't get a hold of Carlos and I need someone to pick her up since I'm stuck here," he could sense how upset the man was, and TK found himself hiding a smile.
"I'll be at the hospital in ten minutes, Mr Reyes," he told him, grabbing his wallet and keys as he headed down the stairs, "I'll keep you updated."
"Alright," the older man sighed, obviously relieved, "thank you, TK."
.
"I'm here for Andrea Reyes," TK said in a rush, and even though he knew she was okay, there was still a part of him that worried.
The nurse blinked up at him, phone cradled between her cheek and her shoulder.
"Andrea Reyes?" He asked again, impatient, and she seemed to shake herself, sitting up straight and placing the phone back on the desk.
"What's your name, sir?"
"TK Strand," he told her, "I'm her son in law," TK lied smoothly.
"Just one moment," she told him, grabbing a couple of files and disappearing down the corridor. TK drummed his fingers on the counter impatiently, checking his phone to see if he'd misses a call from Carlos, but there was none.
Taking a breath to center himself, he unlocked his phone and sent off a text to Gabriel, letting him know he was in the hospital and was about to see Andrea. He then attempted to call Carlos, who answered just before TK was about to hang up.
"TK?! Dad left me a voicemail, my mom-"
"I'm about to go in to see her, babe," he interrupted him, an attempt at soothing him, "she's okay, Carlos."
"You're- you're already there?"
"Yeah," TK said softly.
"Okay. Okay," Carlos let out a breath, and even though he couldn't see him, TK knew he was holding back tears. "She's really okay?"
He leaned back against the counter. "That's what the doctor said."
"I'll be there as soon as I can," Carlos said, and TK could sense there was more he wanted to say but was holding back.
He didn't push, though. "Alright, Drive safe. Love you."
There was a pause, and when he spoke, the words were quiet, and a little choked up. "I love you, too."
.
"Mr Strand?"
TK straightened up immediately. "Yeah?"
"You can see Mrs Reyes now."
.
"Andrea," he breathed out, the last of the tension leaving his body as soon as he saw her sitting up in bed.
"TK," she said brightly, beckoning him over. As soon as he was close, she opened her arms and he fell into them, making sure to be gentle as he wrapped his own arms around her.
He pulled away slowly, dragging a chair close to the bed, not letting go of her hand. "I'm really glad you're okay. We were so worried."
Her uninjured hand found its way to his cheek and he leaned into the gentle touch. Andrea smiled, thumb softly stroking his cheek. "Thank you for coming, Mijo."
His lips twitched up into a smile. "Of course."
They sat in a surprisingly comfortable silence that lasted a few seconds, until Andrea cleared her throat.
"How are you doing, TK?"
The question took him by surprise, and he found his shoulders tensing. "Shouldn't I be asking you that?" He asked, teasing, in an effort to hide the tension.
She huffed. "That is not an answer," she replied, pointedly.
He didn't know what to say to that, because it was the truth.
"How are you, TK?" She repeated the question, though this time, it was softer, quieter; like she already knew the answer.
"I'm fine," he replied automatically, knowing she wouldn't believe him.
Andrea, predictably, didn't. She pursed her lips, waited for his eyes to meet hers, and smiled when they did. "I'm sorry for your loss, Mijo. Gwyn was a wonderful woman."
Tears sprang to his eyes and he nodded. "She was."
Andrea smiled sadly. "She was very proud of you, of the man you are now."
TK squeezed his eyes shut, an attempt at stopping the tears from falling, and nodded. "I know," he said, but it sounded hollow.
She hummed, and another silence fell upon them, "she told me so herself."
His head snapped up and he stared at the woman, wide eyed.
"When we invited them over for dinner, the last time she visited you- she and I talked about you boys and," Andrea paused, smiling as tears welled in her eyes, "she said she was proud of you, and that she hoped little Jonah would take after you."
He shook his head. "I don't know why she would say that," he laughed a little, voice thick.
"I do," she told him, taking his hand, "you are a good, gentle man, and no one knew that better than your mother."
TK bit his lip, hard enough to draw blood, to keep from crying.
"I gave her life hell, growing up- I never made it easy."
"But you filled it with joy, too," she countered. "Something I've learned, probably a little too late- is that it's never a child's responsibility to make anyone's life easier," she told him softly, "I-" he stopped, took a breath, then- "I miss her so much, and I don't know what to do with it."
"Do not avoid it," she advised him, tone firm, "and do not let it consume you. When you miss her, remember the good things. The laughter, the joy, the love. And let go of the painful things- holding onto them does you no good, Mijo."
He closed his eyes and took a shaky breath. "Thank you."
She tugged at the hand she was holding until he stood up, then pulled him down, enveloping him in a warm, comforting embrace that reminded him so much of his mother's, and he finally let the tears fall- he didn't make a sound, and once he pulled away, the only evidence of his lapse in control was the wet spot on the shoulder of her gown, and his own red eyes. "Sorry," he muttered, wiping at the tears.
She shook her head, and smiled. "Don't be. You're going to be alright, TK."
He smiled back. "Thank you."
I hope so.
.
The hospital room door clicked shut behind him just as Carlos came running down the corridor.
TK intercepted him before he could get in the room. "Hey, the nurses are in there with her," he told him, placing one hand on his chest and the other on his neck. "She's okay. It's just a concussion, and they're probably gonna discharge her right away."
Carlos closed his eyes. "What was she doing, driving the truck?"
"She wanted to visit us- thought it was our day off," he answered, "and your dad has a shift, so she decided to drive."
Carlos exhaled. "The truck is as old as I am," he muttered, "dad's been trying to convince her to let him get rid of it for the past two years."
TK could tell he was on the verge of tears, so he pulled him in. "She's okay, I promise."
Carlos breathed him in. "I'm sorry," he whispered in the skin of his neck.
"It's okay," he whispered back, understanding that Carlos wasn't apologising for freaking out, but probably because he felt he didn't have the right to be upset over this when TK had just lost his mother less than a week ago. "Carlos," he pulled away, making sure to look him in the eye to let him know he meant it, "it's okay."
His boyfriend closed his eyes. "Okay."
"Mr Strand?"
Carlos jerked in his hold and turned to the nurse. "Is my mother okay?"
She nodded curtly. "You can go in to see her now. Nurse Davison is just finishing up with her," she said, barely looking up from her phone as she passed them.
Carlos huffed, and TK took his hand on both of his and opened the door.Nurse Davison, when they entered, was filling out Andrea's chart.
"How is she?" Carlos asked the young woman.
"This is Carlos, Andrea's son," TK interjected.
The nurse looked from him to TK, then down to their joined hands, and smiled brightly. "Your husband," she said, walking over. She missed the way Carlos' eyes widened, and the way he stiffened in surprised, and continued obliviously, "your mother is doing okay. Doctor said she has a mild concussion, so she might suffer from headaches, nausea, dizziness, but it should go away in a day or two. She also has some brusing on her left upper arm, but that should clear up in a few days too."
"Thank you," he responded, smiling softly. "When can she be discharged?"
"Her discharge papers will be ready in a few minutes," she told him, heading for the door. "Mrs Reyes, do you need anything before I go?"
Andrea shook her head. "No, thank you."
Once the nurse left, Carlos bounded over to the bed and leaned down to hug his mother, tight enough that TK saw her wince. "I'm glad you're okay, mami," he heard him mutter, "I was so worried."
Her hand smoothed down the hair at the nape of his neck and she smiled. Her eyes caught TK's and the compassion he saw in them overwhelmed him. He pointed his thumb back at the door, and she nodded, understanding.
He mouthed a sincere 'thank you're before he stepped out of the room quietly, let his weight rest back against the wall, and closed his eyes tightly.
She said she was proud of you
She hoped the little one would take after you.
Tears prickled his eyes, and try as he might, he couldn't stop them from falling.
.
"Hey," Carlos said softly, stepping out of the bathroom and into the living room.
TK let his heard rest back on the arm of the couch, and Carlos bent in half to place a kiss on his forehead. "You okay, sweetheart?"
TK just nodded.
Carlos shook his head with a fond smile. "One of these days, you're actually gonna talk about what's going on in your head without me needing to pry it out of you," he teased him gently, though TK was sure a part of him meant it.
TK made room for him on the couch, then pulled him close by the hand, until he was laying beside him.
"I'm sorry."
"It's okay," he whispered, pressing a kiss to his head, "I just want you to know that you can talk to me, that even though I can't understand-"
"It's not that," he cut him off, sitting up a little to look him in the eye, "it's hard, putting it into words when I can't even let myself fully think about it, you know? It's nothing to do with you, Carlos," he promised him.
Carlos pursed his lips, and though TK could tell he didn't like his answer, that he wanted to push, he didn't say anything.
TK, wrong footed and feeling guilty, leaned down to kiss him, hands cradling his cheeks gently. "Be patient with me?"
Carlos kissed him again, and when TK made to pull away, he didn't let him, instead reeling him back in for another deeper kiss. "Always. Just promise me that eventually, you will talk about it? If not with me, then with anyone, just- you have to talk to someone, TK."
He smiled. "I promise."
Carlos kissed him again, making himself comfortable on the couch and pulling TK on top of him. TK laughed quietly and shook his head. "What are you doing? Your mother is like, right there."
Carlos just pulled him closer still, enveloping him in warmth and safety. "I love you."
"I love you."
He would talk to him, TK vowed, maybe not today or tomorrow, but he would.

Ik it’s probably not gonna be seen on the show but I’d love for tk to sleep at the fire house and then wake up with Carlos in the bed next to him or in bed with him like?? And Carlos was like I couldn’t sleep in the house w/o you… someone write it !!!
I wrote it 😌
Hope you enjoy, love 🤍
"Hey, you okay?"
TK spared Nancy a look, and attempted a smile that probably looked more like a grimace and nodded. "I'm fine."
She didn't look convinced, but accepted his answer.
TK made a beeline for the bathrooms, taking a quick shower to rid himself of the day. He closed his eyes and tipped his head back, letting the water run down his face, hoping it would help him stay awake because he knew if he attempted to sleep, it wouldn't be restful by any stretch of the word.
He eventually made it out of the shower, got dressed and was about to head for the kitchen when Nancy intercepted him. TK sighed. "Nancy-"
"You should go to bed," she told him.
He shook his head. "Not tired."
She shrugged. "You should go to bed anyway," she told him pointedly, turning him around and practically pushing him in the direction of the beds.
"What the hell, Nance, I said I didn't-" he trailed off, a lump forming in his throat at the sight he was met with.
He stood there for a few seconds, looking down at the man sleeping on his bed. Carlos was curled up, the blanket pooled at his feet- he'd kicked it off, no doubt- and one hand under his cheek. He looked so peaceful, TK almost didn't want to wake him.
He crouched down beside the bed, and let his fingers run through the soft curls. Carlos' eyes fluttered open. "Hey," he muttered, voice thick with remnants of sleep, "you're back."
"Hi," TK whispered, and his voice cracked on that one word.
Carlos tugged at his arm insistently, until TK got the hint and stood up, then got into the bed beside him. He was enveloped in warmth, and felt his body relax instantly.
Carlos hummed  and brought him even closer, until TK's face was tucked into his neck. "Missed you."
"Missed you, too," he breathed out, then pulled his head away a little, smiling slightly, "but you shouldn't be here," he said teasingly.
Carlos squinted one eye open, then the other and tugged at TK's earlobe teasingly. "Well," he started, "my boyfriend sounded off on the phone, and I thought I'd come check on him."
TK shook his head with a laugh. "You noticed," he said, disbelief coloring his words.
"Of course I noticed. I notice everything about you," he said, like it was a given, a simple fact of the universe.
TK lay his hand on his cheek and leaned forward to kiss him deeply.
"Plus," Carlos muttered into the kiss,  playful, "I kinda have this problem- I can't sleep in our bed without you anymore."
"Oh yeah?"
Carlos kissed him again, longer this time. "Yeah."
"Thank you, babe," he told him, eyes filled with tears, "for coming here. I really needed you today."
"You wanna talk about it?"
TK hesitated, then, "a kid watched his mom die today," he told him quietly, "I've seen this a million times before, but this time-"
This time was different in a way that shook him to the core. TK had frozen in the face of the boy's fear, and try as he might, he hadn't been able to shake it off, had done nothing but watch a kid's world turn upside down- didn't even attempt to comfort him.
"Hey," Carlos interrupted his thoughts, "you're allowed to need time, you know. It hasn't even been a month, TK."
"I know," he muttered, "I just- it took me by surprise."
"Yeah, grief is like that," he told him softly  rubbing his arm. "It won't be like that all the time, you know. It may seem like it, but it won't."
"I hope you're right."
"I am. When am I ever wrong, huh?" He asked teasingly, faking a frown.
TK laughed lightly and scooted closer. Carlos understood his silent request and wrapped his arms around TK tightly, pulling him close. "Try to sleep, okay?"
He shook his head. "I don't think I can."
"Try," he whispered softly, pressing a lingering kiss to his forehead, "just close your eyes."
TK did. Just before he drifted off, he felt another soft kiss, this time on the top of his head.
"I love you."

Home is Just a Room Full of My Safest Sounds
Carlos just wants to take care of TK. Eventually, he lets him.
3x07 Coda
AN: 90% of this was written after the episode (4 am), and the other 10% while i'm at work, so if you're reading this, lower your expectations lol
"She's dead," TK whispered, lowering the phone.
Carlos stared at his boyfriend, paralyzed and helpless. Time seemed to stop.
His eyes never left TK's face, even as he heard the others call out their goodbyes as they left, even as the door closed behind them with a soft click, even the phone slipped from TK's slack fingers and onto the floor with a thud.
His eyes never left TK's- but TK's left his.
Carlos' heart hurt as he watched him spin on his heels, as if lost, his hand coming up to grab at his chest, his throat. He was restless in a way he hadn't seen in a while, and that scared him more than he was willing to admit.
"TK-"
"No, no, no," he muttered, over and over, hands gripping his hair, eyes squeezed shut, "no."
"TK?"
There was no answer. TK continued the stream of muttered denials, and Carlos, for a few seconds, froze.
He wanted to hold him, to offer him the comfort he must needx but if there was one thing he knew about TK, it was that attempting to touch him while he was this agitated would only aggravate him more.
So, Carlos stayed where he was, always a step away, moving with him, but never closer, and waited.
TK's breathing started to speed up, his chest heaving, and Carlos stood in front of him, hands outstretched, but not touching any part of him. "Take a deep breath for me, sweetheart."
TK didn't seem to hear him, so he said it louder, and it seemed to startle him into taking a shaky breath.
"Again," he said softly, breathing right along with him. "Cone on, TK, breathe."
"TK-"
"I can't," he whimpered, shaking like a leaf, "I can't."
"Yes, you can. Come on, we'll do it together, okay? I breathe, you breathe," he told him.
TK nodded, and Carlos walked closer, and offered him his hand. TK took it immediately and squeezed hard enough that it hurt, but he didn't let it show.
It took a while, but he got his breathing back under control soon after.
"Carlos," he said shakily.
"Yeah?"
Unexpectedly, his face crumpled, and Carlos pulled him into his arms; holding him gently, rocking him side to side. God, he would do anything to make this better.
But there was nothing he could except hold the man he loved while his world fell apart around him, and hope he was enough to keep him from falling so far that he couldn't get back up.
.
TK didn't cry.
Not after he got the news, though he came close to it. Not while he was packing to go to New York, not while he was sitting on their couch, unable to sleep, all night.
Carlos drove Owen and TK over to the airport, and the whole way there, he kept throwing looks at his boyfriend, who did nothing more than stare out the window with a far away look in his eyes.
When it was time to say goodbye, Carlos held him tightly, and was a little relieved when TK's arms wrapped around him in return.
"I'll be on the first flight out tomorrow, okay?"
TK nodded, and when he pulled back, Carlos didn't let him go far. He put his hands on both sides of his neck and squeezed gently. "I love you," he reminded him.
TK mustered up a tired smile that was a pale imitation of his usual one. "Love you."
.
It took three hours for Carlos to be able to get a hold of TK. He'd never been so terrified all his life.
He'd lost count of how many times he tried to call him with no answer, so when his phone rang, and an unknown number popped up on his screen, he almost didn't answer.
"Hello?"
"Baby," came his boyfrind's breathy, exhausted voice, "sorry, my phone die-"
"You're okay," Carlos whispered, collapsing back into his chair, "god, TK, you scared me."
"I'm sorry," TK said, "at least it's not really my fault this time?"
Carlos let out a small laugh. "Yeah. Hey, where are you?"
"At the airport. Enzo's coming to pick us up."
"Is your dad okay?"
"He's fine. A little bruised up, but nothing serious."
"Good."
"Hey, I gotta go, okay? I'll call you again as soon as I can."
"Okay, sweetheart. Hey," he said, just before the line went dead."
"Yeah?"
He let out a breath. "I'm so damn happy you're okay, TK. I don't know what I would have done of something happened to you."
"I'm okay, Carlos."
He wasn't that convincing, but Carlos would take it. "Okay. Love you."
"Love you, too."
.
Carlos waited for him to break.
Throughout the funeral, and the wake, he stuck close to him, bracing himself for it, but it didn't come.
The whole time he was expecting it, it didn't come.
.
When he woke up, it was 2 am, and he was alone in the bed. Confused, Carlos stumbled out of bed and put into the hallway. His first stop was the bathroom, then the kitchen, then the living room- he didn't find him.
He was starting to get worried when he heard it.
A giggle.
He stepped outside, and without TK noticing, watched him.
TK had Jonah cradled in his arms, the boy looking up at him with such a sweet smile that it brought tears to Carlos' eyes.
He stepped put the door and walked quietly over to him, sitting down beside him.
TK leaned into him.
"What are you two doing out here?"
TK sighed. "He was fussing. I couldn't sleep, so I figured I'd help Enzo while I'm still here.
Carlos nodded, and moved his arm from under TK's weight to wrap it around him loosely.
"I think he misses her," TK whispered thickly, voice shaking.
Carlos closed his eyes at the pain he heard in those words, and wished there was something, anything, he could do to take it all away. "Baby-"
"I miss her," he said in a rush, "I miss her so much, Carlos."
Carlos moved to sit sideways,  and pulled him in, just as the first sob broke free. It was quiet, strangled, and sounded like it was torn out of his throat. One arm went to wrap around TK's back, and the other came up to settle in his hair. He held him tightly, and gently, and rode out the waves of pain and despair right along with him.
Jonah fussed a little, and like a switch had been flipped off, TK pulled himself together and sniffled, a heartbreakingly sad smile on his lips. "I'm sorry, kiddo," he whispered, leaning down to kiss one rosy cheek.
"He's gonna be okay, TK," Carlos assured him, rubbing his arm gently.
TK didn't look away from his brother. "How can you be so sure?"
"Because he has his father," he answered, "and, he has you, and I know you'll do everything you can to be there for him."
TK looked up at him, smiled, and pressed a kiss to Carlos's neck. "Thank you," he muttered, breath fanning out across his skin and making him shiver.
"What for?"
"Being here," he replied, "putting up with me."
Carlos shook his head and pressed a small kiss first to his lips, then to his cheek. "You never have to thank me for that, TK."
TK, with Jonah dozing off in his arms, settled back into Carlos', breaths gradually evening out as time passed. Carlos grabbed a quilt off the back of the chair and spread it over the brothers, holding them both tightly, watching over them as they slept.

From the winter prompts, Can I ask for 08. i slip on some ice and you’re the stranger who catches me with Tarlos, please??
🙃💜
Ooooh, thanks, friend!
"I'll be on dish washing duty for a week if one of you guys gets the coffee."
Four pairs of eyes blinked up at him from where his teammates were huddled together on the couch.
"Guys," he whined when they didn't even react.
"No way, man," Mateo said, burrowing into the blanket, "way too cold."
"Paul?" He asked hopefully.
"I would, but I already went out to get breakfast," the older man told him, "I'm not going out in the cold unless I absolutely have to."
"You're from Chicago," TK grumbled, "you're supposed to be used to the cold."
"So are you, New York," he teased him, grinning.
TK groaned and resigned himself to his fate, putting on his jacket reluctantly.
The second he walked out the door, he was hit with a gust of wind that was so cold it made his eyes water.
He put his earphones in and braced himself before he walked out into the cold.
.
Carlos rubbed his hands together, trying to warm them up as he waited to give his coffee order. When the guy ahead of him stepped out of line, he immediately took his place, and was about to order when the cafe door opened and in walked a guy in an AFD uniform, looking cold and extremely pissed off.
Carlos couldn't keep his eyes off him.
From his wind blown hair, to his red cheeks, to his beautiful eyes- he was gorgeous.
Carlos wondered how they never crossed paths.
"Sir? Your order?"
The barista, when he looked back at her, was obviously trying to fight off a laugh, and Carlos felt his face heat up just a little. He rattled off his and Mitchell's orders, and felt a presence behind him. Knowing it was the firefighter, it took all of Carlos' will power to keep from looking back.
He moved slightly to the left, and their eyes met. The other man smiled politely, then looked away, placing his order, and Carlos felt eyes on him but didn't look back to confirm it.
When Carlos' name was called, he took his coffee and made his way outside. He handed Mitchell her cup, and was just about to get in the car when the firefighter left the cafe. He was fumbling, attempting to balance his phone, his wallet and the coffees, when Carlos noticed his wallet slipping out of his pocket.
"Hey! Your wallet," he called out, but the guy kept walking. Carlos quickly grabbed the wallet off the ground and jogged after him. "Hey!
Again, he was ignored. Carlos huffed, "hey-"
The man stepped on a patch of ice, and though he made an effort to stay standing, feet moving back and forth comicially, he ultimately failed. Carlos, acting on instinct, stepped behind him and grabbed him just before he fell all the way.
They were frozen for a few seconds, the man's upper back against Carlos' chest, then the man scrambled up, hwadphones falling out of his ears. He looked stunned, and Carlos bit his lip to keep from laughing.
"Hi," the man breathed out.
"Hey," Carlos responded, "you good?"
He nodded. "Yeah. Thanks for catching me," he laughed, only a little embarrassed.
Carlos waved him off and handed him his wallet back. "You dropped this."
"Thank you so much," he took it from him with his free hand, "Officer Reyes, right?"
Carlos raised an eyebrow in surprise. "Yeah. How-?"
"TK Strand," he introduced himself, extending a hand, "I'm a firefighter, we've worked together on a couple of scenes."
"We haven't met, though, right? Officially? 'Cause I'm pretty sure I would've remembered you."
TK grinned, and it was a little smug. "No  Michelle just pointed you out to me a couple of times."
"Why would she have pointed me out?"
Now, he seemed embarrassed. "Well, I'm new here and," he drew the word out, seemingly unsure of what to say, "she wanted to set us up?"
Carlos rolled his eyes. "Yeah, she always does that. "
TK shifted from one foot to the other, either nervous or unsure, then took a step backwards. "It was nice meeting you, officer."
Carlos frowned, then realized how he must have sounded and found himself jogging after TK for the second time today. "Wait, TK!"
He turned around. "Yeah?"
He stood in front of him, and only hesitated a little before he blurted out, "let me buy you a cup of coffee?"
TK looked down at the cups in his hand, and Carlos rolled his eyes.
"Not now, I meant later? Sometime this week?"
TK smiled at him, wide and genuine. "Sure. I have Friday off."
"Works for me," he replied, "five okay?"
"Yeah," TK muttered.
Carlos grinned. "It's a date."
