Jonathan Baileys amazing acting choices when Edwina confronts Anthony.

Imo 2x06 (the failed wedding) is a super strong epsiode anyway but i think Jonathan Baileys acting choices for Anthony make this episode outstanding and we have to talk about that.

1. Edwina confronts him with "Because... you love me?"

The pure terror on Anthonys face when he realize that 1. Edwina is looking for a love match, and 2. that Edwina is in love with him.

He choose Edwina because he wanted a nice wife who is clever, and whose company he enjoys. Edwinas feelings were never really important for him. And he knew one thing for certain: He never wanted to love his wife and never wanted to be loved by his wife in return. Knowing how much his mother suffered after his father died he specificly avoided a love match. And suddenly there is Edwina, asking him if he loves her. The shock and the realization that the wife he choose fall in love with him and now asks to reciprocate this love. Followed by silent accptance. Thinking he can still save the situation. But also raising his shields, going back to his poker face.

And maybe... maybe maybe he feels a tiny bit sad for her.

2. But I think it gets even better when Edwina asks him about Kate.

First the pure terror again. He looks at her, like he is begging her to stop: "Please don't ask me. Please Edwina, stop." But also the shock, realizing Edwina KNOWS. Edwina is not a pure little girl. She is an adult woman, with her own mind, and oh my god, she KNOWS!

And here comes my favorite part. Edwina asks him: "What role will she play between us in the future?"

A direct attack. Edwina is attacking him, him and his honor. And Anthony is ready for this battle. He raises his chin, higher and higher. Making himself look big. Looking down at Edwina.

And eventually you can see a little dangerous smile. "Well played, girl. Well played."
