But if the "progressive youth" are violently attacking fellow students or making threats because those fellow students belong to a religion/culture which has a nation of practitioners that is currently committing atrocities, because they cannot tell the difference between "Country whose leadership is committing atrocities" and "Fellow citizen of my country who just shares a religion and culture with that country"... then the progressive youth are wrong.

They're right about stopping the atrocities. They're wrong about blaming people who have literally nothing to do with it.

The antisemitism associated with the Save Palestine movement on college campuses is like what if American overseas at foreign universities were being attacked because of American atrocities, except it's worse because overseas Americans can still vote in American elections, whereas a Jewish American has no right to vote in Israel.

I guess that "while siding with the ruling class" phrase is doing more heavy lifting in that sentence than expected. It's really important to be attacking the actual ruling class, not some people who you think are the ruling class because you fell for literally the oldest propaganda on the planet and have been sucked into a medieval belief system you mistake for being progressive.

Actually, socialism is in fact happening in real life... most countries in the developed world are socialist at least in some part. And they are usually doing quite well with it. The problem is that Republicans confuse communism and socialism.

Every other country in the developed world has universal health care, a socialist initiative. Most have a more robust social safety net. They pay more in taxes, but less in actual health care expenses.

There is no objective sense in which, say, Germany or Finland or even the UK are "worse" due to socialism. (The UK is worse on trans rights, right now, but USA is trying to get there.) So this argument is actually a lie from the getgo.

The thing the Republicans are terrified of is communism. Which also exists, unless you listen to communists, who will tell you it has never existed and all the communist regimes there have ever been are Not True Communism. However, I would wager that less than 1% of the US population actively wants communism; it's simply not a credible thing to fear. Socialism, which many of us actively want, exists and works very well in many places, and I think it would be hard to point out some area where it is "worse" unless you are fantastically rich.

I dislike this phrasing. Amy Comey Barrett is a woman. Many female Republicans are anti-abortion. Being a woman doesn't give you a vote on what I, a different woman, do with my body. Meanwhile there are plenty of pro-choice men.

Say what you mean. Overturning abortion was the opinion of male supremacists. Women can believe in and support male supremacy. Even if they hold roles that would be impossible in a truly male supremacist society. It was a woman who killed the ERA, Phyllis Schafly.

This is not abut being Pro-life. Women dying from illegal abortions is becanot being Por-life. Making young girls carry a baby to term that is the result of incest is not pro-life.

This is a violation of women's human rights and Republicans don't care.

One time I was working as a contractor at a federal facility that contained a day care. As I was leaving for the day, I passed the gaggle of children that were being led outside for afternoon recess. One of them asked my name, and I said, "I'm Alara." All of the children started to chorus "Hi, Wawa! There is something very wrong with patriarchally enforced behavior patterns that are being encouraged into men by society, so there are a lot of badly behaved men. But there are actually badly behaved people of all genders, we are learning that rape is committed far more frequently by women than we thought but isn't being tracked or prosecuted, and it is actively harmful to us to reject men from queer leftist spaces; kicking men out of leftist spaces or telling them they are doomed to be monsters is part of what's behind the rise of the alt right.

My queers, we really need to put the "no men" thing away. Men are not inherently bad. There are queer men. There are questioning men. There's men that are just plain cool. Denying these men a space at our table is not helping - except the TERFs. I just came off the back of reading a transphobe gleeful rant about the need to have pride without men - They of course mean me. This kind of stuff is damaging to me and I really need us all to take a step back and maybe kill this "men dni, men not allowed" stuff. What you mean is "no men who are going to do mean stuff to me." And frankly those men won't give a shit about that kind of boundary.

But I promise you there's a fleet of good honest men who will see that and be sad they're not allowed in your version of queer spaces.
