A love that is so debilitating that it feels like you have no breath left. All your bones broken and your heart hollow. You're the remnant of something so vile yet struggle to understand that there is so much beyond the fire and the flames. You've been stabbed over and over till all the blood in your body seeped out, but just the gentle touch of a healing hand that comforts you suddenly feels as though the pain was worth it. Seeing the kindness of light peer from a black curtain only to know it's nothing more than a broken bulb.

You are at the receiving end of something cruel. What you mistake as love is only possession. An object to their eyes that is meant to be toyed with and once broken, replaced. Like glass, you've been shattered but welded back together. Each time growing more and more fragile. But the fear of leaving them, running, escaping, is far more terrifying than the pain itself.

All your weaknesses laid out, you're more than an open book. Pages torn from your spine to force you to reveal everything. Frightened by the exposure yet reeling in the all consuming attention. Eyes are on you and nothing else, but there is nothing in those gazes. Only the empty desire to break you.

A foolish attempt to try and steal something from another pirate especially when one was alone. But the question did form in his mind, what was a Baroque Works lackey doing so far away from her pond?

She would be smart not to tempt a trigger happy intelligence officer of the Hearts if she knew what was good for her. Or at least for her hand. He’d give her the chance to come up with an excuse whether it would be with words or actions. It mattered not to him. Just so long as it was good enough.
