I know I haven't for real posted on here in forever, but I just wanted to come on and say something in light of the cancellation.

I love all of you so much. I love this fandom, I love everything we've created and everything I'm sure y'all will continue to create because you're stubborn bastards and it's fantastic. the jatp fandom is the reason I have @pancakesquad which is totally fucking surreal to me but I'm so grateful for that. To think that if I'd never watched this show I wouldn't have these incredible people in my life is just. so wild. i adore every single person I've interacted with on here (positive interactions lmao) and I'm so glad that I was ever involved in this stupid fucking fandom. All the mutuals that I made because of this show, I love y'all. so much. i would tag certain people but I know I'd miss a ton so if you think I may be talking to you, there's a good chance I am. Anyways, enough of my dumb sappy shit. Thank you all so much, idk if I'll ever post regularly on here again, but just know that I'm so thankful for this little gay ghost show and everything it's done for me. Willow out I guess. actually no i'm never saying that again that was horrible wtf. bye lol

JatP's cast and crew gave us something that is easily one of the best pieces of kids' media ever and Netflix has the absolute gall to treat them like they have. This show has incredible writing, an absolutely amazing and diverse cast, and awesome songs, and they showed a nuanced depictions of grief and recovery. Their main character is a ridiculously talented girl of colour played by a literal 15 year old, and all the boys around her support her unconditionally. They have an interracial gay couple that's completely invaluable to the plot and are absolutely adorable and well-written. They constantly showed the importance of found family and mutual support between friends, and all the main relationships are genuinely loving and supportive.

It is probably the best show I've watched - absolutely my favourite of all time - and those absolute assholes left the entire cast hanging for 15 months. Just to dump them on their asses with no warning despite still having a super dedicated fanbase, multiple award wins, and even more nominations. The cast and crew deserves so much better and I cannot say strongly enough: FUCK Netflix

hey everyone! it’s us.

we just wanted to say we’re all really sad about the jatp cancellation. we’ve been waiting so long and hoping so much that we would get a season 2, and for it to suddenly be denied out of the blue hurts.

but despite all of that, we have to remember the positives of this whole experience. it’s been really meaningful and incredible for us to meet everyone and make so many friends. we’ve all been motivated to create so much and we’ve been awed by the creations of everyone else in the fandom. thank you all so much for making this past year so wonderful. thank you for making it worth it.

Willie is red in the face and his hair is falling haphazardly out of his bun, despite mountains of hairspray, and there’s cheering and passive aggressive clapping, and they won. Alex swings his arms around Willie’s neck, laughing through the fatigue. At some point, Carrie tugs him away from Willie and kisses him sloppily on the cheek, leaving bright pink lipstick smudged across his cheekbone like paint. Paint.

i just watched jatp and i looked through the tag and found your posts and analyses and i just wanna say that you’re so on point. especially about j/ke. whenever i see people talking about the show they’re always raving about luke and julies chemistry and the ship but i really just can’t get behind it. firstly, i didn’t even realize the boys were supposed to be high schoolers, i though they were like 19-20 until there was that line about luke’s parents not wanting their 17 year old dropping out of school or something. all the boys just look older because their actors are older and when they’re next to julie who is actually 15 or so, it throws me off. whenever j/ke get close to each other i just cringe because all i can think is that that’s a grown ass man. i really wish they just went for a sibling like relationship with her and all boys, that’d be so much more compelling and refreshing compared to boring romantic schtick. i like where the show almost goes with m/f platonic relationships but i feel like i’d enjoy it better if they had less time to the romance of j/ke and more on the platonic relationships within the band.

Yeah the age gaps are the worst bit about the show imo. There's a 5+ year gap between their actors, and to me as a Brit, even the characters' age gap is Uncomfortable. Luke would be going into senior year and Julie would be a freshman/sophomore (upper sixth and year 10/11) depending on what timeline you're going with, which is a huge taboo in Britain. Luckily Madi and Charlie are both extremely uncomfortable with the idea of having to kiss because they see each other as brother and sister. So fortunately we're not going to have to see That happen, but I'd definitely prefer if the boys were just friends with Julie.

I've gone into this quite a lot but Luke and Julie's connection isn't actually all that unique. Every similarity she has with Luke, she also has with Alex and Reggie - the ghost-lifer dynamic, love for music, and missing their parents. It would have been so unique if the band was completely platonic, with every dynamic being equally as important. Letting Madi and Charlie lean into their sibling dynamic and having all the boys hype Julie up completely platonically because !!!!!!! best singer!!!!!!!! would have been just so sweet. It's so rare that we see friendships be the full focal relationships in a show and it would have been so cool to see
