It will be automatically loaded on your reader on March 3rd when the book launches. Here’s the synopsis:
“Two years ago, Jayde Holloway discovered that she had the power to erase memories in the worst way possible: by accidentally wiping her best friend Jenny’s at the end of their senior year. Now, shut off from the world, Jayde exists solely for her role as the Sin Eater, an entity who can take away a person’s every bad memory if they so wish… for a price. Jayde hates the lonely life that she’s dealt, especially under her strict boss Jak, who consistently keeps her under his watchful eye through blackmail: a constant reminder of all of her mistakes. When she must travel back to her hometown, Jayde secretly befriends two siblings with a haunted past of their own. As her own painful memories begin to overwhelm, Jayde must make a choice: remain chained to a familiar but hurtful past, or reveal all of her darkest secrets for what could be a better future.”
My favorite illustration that I’ve done to be included in my upcoming book, Sin Eater (2nd edition).
Sin Eater is based in Alabama where I live, and many of the locations featured are places I visit all the time. This one in the illustration is based on a park I spent a lot of time in as a teenager. It felt like a safe haven for my friends and me.
I’ve waded in the river below, spent hours talking at the stone tables or on the bridge itself. We took long walks in the grass or in the dry riverbed when there was a drought. I played in the snow there once as my friends did sword fights that we filmed, since it was such a beautiful location. I met new people here, sketched peacefully by myself, came here when I felt there was nowhere else to go.
I’m happy that it’s included in my book and that I got to draw it. This one will always mean so much to me.
Ebook preorders are available on Friday, February 2nd!! So close!
My publisher, Dawn Publishing, suggested I draw a burning paper motif for Sin Eater’s chapter headers, so I drew a burning paper heart. They look so nice in the manuscript she just showed me!! 😍
A little sneak peek into illustrations that will be included in the second edition of Sin Eater! That’s right, black and white scenes drawn by me. I’ve had such a great time taking reference photos of my surroundings and drawing them as the backgrounds, since the setting of the book is based on my hometown of Birmingham, Alabama.
We aren’t sure how many there will be yet, I’ll announce that later. If some of the drawings don’t make it into the book, I’ll be posting them and will have them available later as prints to buy!
Sin Eater (2nd Edition) is looking great so far! There’s just one more thing to add to this, and I’d love to hear from you guys out there…
A subtitle will need to go at the top, a catchy line to get readers interested when they see the book. The story has to do with the protagonist Jayde’s powers of erasing memories.
If you have a suggestion for the subtitle, drop it in a comment below! If we pick yours, I’ll send you a free hardback in March 2024 when it releases. 😉 Let’s hear it!
Sin Eater has found its new home! It will be published with Dawn Publishing, tentative date for release around Spring Break 2024. This will be a second edition that I can get into more readers’ hands. I’m looking forward to planning more book signings and podcasts to get less shy about talking about my work.
For those of you who have already read, I may be asking you to leave your review again once it is officially published on its platforms. 😉❤️
Dawn Publishing is owned by Dawn Bates, a lovely friend and mentor that has helped me through the years. I’m excited to learn more and work together!
