BIO

Charity Burbage was raised by muggles. Or that’s what she always thought. In reality, Elisabeth and Flora Burbage were both aware of the magical world. But they were both squibs from pureblood families. Since neither of them had magic, the two of them were always together, forced to be part of the society that never accepted them for their lack of magic. Through their years as friends, they fell in love. Unfortunately, Flora was married off to a pureblood wizard because her parents wanted a partnership with that family. She ended up married to a man for nearly a year before she became pregnant. He wasn’t very nice and she didn’t want to raise a kid with him, so in the middle of the night Flora and Elisabeth ran off together and hid in Oxford. They both knew it was wrong to hide from their families, but they didn’t care. No one would understand and to them, it was more important that Flora’s child grew up happy and loved. When Charity was born, both Elisabeth and Flora decided that she would be raised in a house without mention of magic because it was safer that way.

From a young age, Charity was a bright ball of sunshine. Her parents were always worried about her. They sheltered her. The three of them lived in a small cottage in the middle of nowhere. Her mothers grew all their food. She basically lived on a small farm and she loved it. She didn’t know that it was strange growing up secluded from the rest of the world. Once a month, her parents would pack her in their tiny car and they would drive into the nearest town. Charity loved seeing all the little shops and shopping for the things that her parents couldn’t grow or get from their farm. She followed them around like a little duckling, asking questions. When she was good, her parents would buy her candy or ice cream in the summer, where they’d eat it in the park. It wasn’t until she was older did she start to realize that her parents weren’t normal. That their sheltering her wasn’t a good thing. She didn’t know what to do about it though, especially when she started to feel there was something they weren’t telling her.

It was at the age of ten that she decided she wanted to run away. Charity got as far as to town before she realized she’d made a decision. She sat down at a park bench and that’s when a gang of children her age found her. She thought they wanted to be her friend, but she quickly realized that they didn’t. While Charity’s parents had sheltered her, people in town talked about the two women who lived with their daughter on the outskirts of town. And they didn’t like it, so they told her just that. Charity’s mothers found her curled up on the bench with a broken arm. They took her to a doctor and then home, where they finally told her the truth. They they were from a magical world and Charity knew that she had magic in her own veins. It explained so much. She got her letter nearly weeks later and her parents took her to Diagon Alley and introduced her to a muggle society that accepted them as m

Hogwarts was an adjustment for her, being sorted into Hufflepuff, and around more students than she was used to, but Charity wanted to fit in. It took a while for her to find her place among her peers. Coming from a family like hers, she didn’t know about magic and she wasn’t a muggle, but something in between. While she liked all people and tried to be a bright face for her fellow peers, it was often that she found herself not fitting in with them, as much as she tried to. Charity has spend the last six years carving out a place for herself, trying to find a space for her mums because she believes everyone has a place in the world. It’s slow going and she might be naïve and optimistic, but she refuses to give up her vision of a united world, where muggles and magical people can live in unity. Although Charity has that view of the world, she hasn’t really noticed the tension in the world around her, the oncoming war because she’s far too focused on the things that students her age should be focused on: school and being a teenager.

BIO

As the youngest Black daughter, Narcissa grew up watching her sisters for signs of what to do and not to do. The family she had been born into was not an easy one to navigate. She learned from their mistakes and missteps and, despite not being the son her father had hoped for (for a third time), became the best daughter their family could ask for. She took to lessons in piano and dance with ease, bathed in her mother’s stories and teachings, and never raised her voice or had a hair out of place. To keep the peace, Narcissa had to be perfect and she would never be anything but. Especially once her sisters were out of the house and it was her alone with her parents.

The year she finally got to attend Hogwarts had been something Narcissa had been dreaming of for ages. She was growing up, no longer just a baby to her sisters. A proper witch but she was disappointed to say that the castle did not meet her expectations. She had long been educated on the rampant and distasteful ways muggleborns, half-bloods, and blood traitors ran around but she had never witnessed it before her first year.

Ever in his sisters’ shadow, Narcissa stuck closely to the people she knew and was very thankful to be placed in Slytherin. When people assumed her quiet nature was in fact a trademark Black coldness, she didn’t correct them. It was better to be feared or have someone be wary of her than for them to pinpoint the real reason for her lack of interacting, shyness and naivety. She had learned so much through her mother and various tutors and governess but Narcissa had never learned how to be a child or a teenager. Letting loose wasn’t a skill she possessed, or so she thought.

Though her home may have been cold (bordering on cruel if not for the stories she herd of other purebloods upbringings) and the castle not up to her expectations, Hogwarts was still a time of year she looked forward to. Away from the watchful gazes of her parents’ elves and constant presence of her sisters (though they were never that quiet far away while occupying the same house), fifth year had given Narcissa an opportunity to explore who she was. She had come out of her shell some in the past four years of schooling. She learned her love of subjects such as Charms and Magical Theory although holding onto any dreams of careers after graduation were foolish and a daytime fantasy.

Ever sheltered and blinded by the comforts of her own life, Narcissa hasn’t grasped the horrors that are slowly overtaking the magical world. If, for some reason, those horrors would begin to start effecting her, she would simply follow in her sisters lead.

BIO

Lucius was born as the solitary heir to the Malfoy family. A family of the Sacred 28, his beliefs were instilled in him before he could walk and talk. Lucius was raised by a handful of nannies as he grew; his father too busy with the family business and his mother too busy with her socialite nature. He was a spoiled boy and had the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth. Whatever he wanted, he got. Lucius learned quickly to never step a foot out of line and to never question his beliefs. Purebloods were superior and that was that. Unless someone’s blood was pure, they were not worth your time. They were below you.

When he was shipped off to Hogwarts, it wasn’t a surprised that Slytherin came out of the sorting hat’s mouth before it even touched his perfect hair. Lucius excels at most of his subjects without much true effort. His preferred subjects include transfiguration and charms. However, he took a quick liking to dark magic. When Voldemort began to rise in popularity, Lucius followed because he saw power. Power was what he wanted. What he craves the most.  

The moment that he could take the dark mark, he did and he’s been a close follower of the Dark Lord ever since. He is willing to serve the cause with his fellow Death Eaters and hopes to raise in the ranks of importance. Lucius is willing to do whatever it takes.

Morning Announcements

The start of the new term is full swing, and talk about OWLs and NEWTs have started creeping into lessons. 

Madame Pompfrey would like everyone to know that Calming Droughts are available as needed, there is no need to attempt to brew yours own.

Delphine Rosewood has officially joined the staff, adding Campus Security to her roster, in addition to the Dueling Club. In the halls students have heard Filch muttering about ‘job security’ and ‘interlopers’.

Professor McGonagall would like to remind everyone that studying human Transfiguration outside of the classroom is only to be done under her supervision. In related news, if anyone’s seen an opossum wandering the castle please do let her know.

The first Quidditch match of the new term will be weekend after next! Slytherin and Hufflepuff, get ready to face off! 

The current week in game is january 11th to january 18th, 1977.
