E.J Sue’s “Mechaforce” is one of the few “How to Draw” books I would point newbies looking to get into drawing robots to. It emphasises knowing the basics (Very difficult to draw a robot properly if you can’t use perspective) and fundamental shapes and even arm techniques, and gives a neat insight into how mechanical forms work in art.
These are just a few of the examples from the anatomy section of the book. It’s currently on sale on Amazon and worth checking out, though I will note it is not a “be all end all” resource, thankfully you can fill in your knowledge gaps elsewhere.

nice argument. unfortunately i will die today. i will not die helpless. my death will not amount to nothing. my hand will draw the marks of my revolt. my flesh shall take the great shape of my revenge. i will steal myself away from their intent for me. my blood will not ripen their soil, nor shall my body blossom into their chosen colours. i will bring them fear instead. my death today shall be the quiver in the executioner’s hand tomorrow, the wavering doubt in the mind of the justiciar. i will be hallowed, but not for them. i will die. i will not die. [branches erupt from my body, intertwining us in a final, hateful embrace and killing us so badly we'll both need closed casket funerals]

“average person eats 3 people a year” factoid actualy just a statistical error. Average person eats 0 people a year. Spiders Maul, who lives in a cave & eats over 10,000 people a year, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

OC asks: 5, 9, 10!
[5. How do they feel about their family? Chosen and/or biological?]
"Hello, Sanpril," the General briefly bowed his headcase low on its pistons. "The civilized galaxy seems to assume that because I am psychotic & angry & cruel that those are my only traits, or worse that I am not capable of love or compassion. This is not true. I loved my parents as all children do. And I love my family. I have every faith in my wives to raise our children to be greater kaleesh than me. I do not worry for them. The worst thing about my family had always been me," Grievous asserted this with such assuredness that you had little choice but to believe him.
While it was true, even back when he was different people, there was a sense of detachment. He loved all of them but at the same time felt like he did not belong with them. Not for lack of trying. He only really belonged with Ronderu.
Of course, during his tour as a murder cyborg, he didn't have to worry about any of that. Couldn't worry about any of that. And he sure as hell didn't belong there.
[Under cut: Do he make friends? Do he make enemies? The answers may not surprise you at all!]
[9. How easily do they make friends?]
"HA!" he barked a single sarcastic laugh. "Girl, I am mean."
"Making friends is not so easy as the inner galaxy would lead you to believe," he began incredulous but he paused & shrugged his huge shoulder armor flippantly. "Although if you would like to get technical, the factories produced a million battle droids a day at the Stalgasin hive alone. So, they are easy to make."
"You are from a warrior caste?" Grievous asked you, having observed your visible scars & callouses. "Sure, kaleesh can make friends without unscrupulous violence, but bonds formed through violence are always the strongest! I suppose this is not so in other cultures. Lets see..." his head tilted 40 degrees on its apparatus as he thoughtfully counted on his claws. "I met nearly all of my close generals because we fought on sight. I got engaged to my wife Kevanru because I "defeated" them in ritual combat," he mimed air quotes on his victory because he was sure Kevanru could have kicked his ass. He then cheerfully added, "And of course Ronderu lij Kummar nearly sliced my throat open before I even knew she was there."
[10. How easily do they make enemies?]
"Ah, now enemies I can make!" he said enthusiastically. After coughing a bit & chuckling darkly, he gestured to his fabricated body. "I am literally built to make enemies. Very good at it. Professional, even. The whole galaxy, in fact. A shame, perhaps, but nothing to be done for it." Nodding & gesticulating with his hands, he made making enemies out to be a very fun pastime.
"If greedy beings would have left my planet alone, we would not have been in such a mess. Kaleesh tend to stay in their lane, so to speak. Not sure why people keep coming to Kalee with the express purpose of kicking the anthill only to be surprised when they are swarmed."
"Hating people is much less hassle than loving them," he mused tellingly, almost as an afterthought.

Could you tell us more about Iqarn?
"Ay, my brother Iqarn? I love him & he was an idiot," Grievous barked this information accompanied by animated gesturing.
"My best friend. Iqarn was liimasyr's first child, three years older than me. Perhaps he felt we were in it together, being Mother's blood. For that I will always be grateful. Our nine other siblings came to resent me so hard they might have died before letting me help them." He nodded. Indeed, one nearly did. Iqarn was his only friend growing up. Little Qymaen was otherwise occupied with the adults & their worries.
"Was he smart? No. Was he strong? No. But he was personable & loyal. He diffused my, ah...abrasive personality when we were first striking out. I am sure he kept me from being folded in half by many warlords that I was trying to tell what to do." At this Grievous chuckled fondly, which was the warmest tone the holonet anons had gotten from him. Still some mischief in it, leading you to wonder if he was always derisive or if that was just the way he laughed.
"Iqarn was by my side through everything. Right up until the Jedi showed up on Tovarski to encourage us to abandon our warpath. I specifically told him not to engage. But Iqarn was always convinced we could do anything, that I could handle anything. Ch'. That was how we learned Jedi were real & we had no counter to unstoppable plasma swords- hkt koff koffk-"
"Stupid fool. Said he would tell Mother that she was right. That he would die doing the opposite of what I told him to. Ugh. I still got mad at him from time to time, leaving me. My children would have loved to meet him. But such is the risk & reward of a good warrior, no?"
[Fun fact you get for reading all that: Iqarn (ee-karn) was named after their father's brother, which would have been to honor him if it wasn't for the fact that grandma was always lamenting that they had to settle for their father instead. As such, it was kind of fucked up lol]

OC ask game ✨
Seeing talk about the topic going around, I felt the itch to try and make an ask list :>
Where did they grow up/spend their early years?
Do they distance themself from their background or embrace it?
Are they an outsider? Do they feel like one?
How do they feel about their past/younger self?
How do they feel about their family? Chosen and/or biological?
Are they always on schedule or do they easily lose track of time?
If asked to list a few fun facts about themself, what would they say?
Do they enjoy the spotlight or try to hide in the shadows? Are they actually well-known?
How easily do they make friends?
How easily do they make enemies?
Obligation or initiative, why do they do what they do? Is there something/someone specific that motivates them? (bonus: has their motivation changed over the years?)
Generally, what's most people's first impression of them? + What impression do they *want* to leave on others?
Is there anyone they'd like to be closer to than they are?
Is their worldview colorful or gray?
Are they more avoidant or confrontational?
How honest are they? To others and to themself?
How talkative are they?
Past, present, future - what do they think about most?
Do they love easily (platonic, familial, romantic, etc)? Is love easy for them to express?
Any song(s) that you feel represent your character best? (bonus: would *they* like this/these song(s)?)

So do you want to elaborate more about your parents and childhood?
[TL:DR: General Grievous gossips about his parents being the first step in giving him personality disorders. 98% headcanon]
“A common colloquial condemnation of one’s actions, to ask if their parents would be proud of them, yes? Very common on Kalee. You may be inclined to ask this of me: the Separatist scourge of the galaxy & hunter of Jedi. Believe me when I tell you, yes, they would be exceedingly proud of me.” General Grievous chuckled mischievously.
“What are my personal details worth to you, eh?” He reigned in a couple of coughs & waved a hand dismissively. “Only worth anything to my people & they already know! I will brief you on a summary, if only so that you may understand what is wrong with me in part, heheh.”
“My father, through his marriages, linked together all the tribes east of the wash in the Ausez steppes. Chieftain Rokrarri the Eye,” he tapped a claw to one of the porcelain sockets of his faceplate indicatively. “The locals were quite impressed by his longshot skill with the recently acquired rifles, as I understand. Supposed he could see clear across the plains. He was a fine warrior, put his clan before his own glory.”
“I imagine that was difficult with the way Honored liimumasyr treated him. How is it in Basic? My grandmother, yes? She was the one that orchestrated the marriage with the intention of keeping things together at home while most of the kolkpravis went to go fight the Republic’s battles for them. Father was not her first choice, though. First choice had been his brother, but he got himself got by Muja raiders. Not sure if it was better or worse that she had the bite to back up her bark, better than father at everything.”
“Honored liimuma fought through the entirety of the Bitthævrian War. Bataan Valgor’yz, ah, Splinter-Spite. No doubt the source of my inherited rage. She was very angry to have won the Republic’s war for them & gained nothing but glory. She never shut up about it, no? It was a punishment in my house: misbehave? Go to task with Honored liimuma, the most bitter kaleesh on the planet.” Grievous nodded sagely. “I suppose one could argue that I was born into an incredibly biased household,” he chuckled again, amused in a grim sort of way at how he seemed to be the epicenter of the Republic’s abuse of his people.
“She was not one to enjoy what you would call retirement. And her daughter, my liimasyr- my birth mother, was just a younger copy of her! I will tell you that kaleesh have accepted the fact that not all of us can be warriors but we are a bit further behind in the opposite. Not all kaleesh are cut out to raise pups no matter how divine of a duty anyone labels it."
Grievous then looked to you & tilted his head conspiratorially. You get the impression he'd be smirking if he could. "It is a sin to speak ill of one's mother, unit. I love her but, ah, Mother can come find me in hell if she wants to fight about it."
"My mother: Priving Aayaniz Blood-Feeder, Axe of the Eye, Daughter of the Kolkpravis. She was a fierce hunter & an insatiable glory hound. She had to be the best at all times. In a communal society she invented the sport of competitive parenting. I think perhaps she could have calmed down with time if it weren't for me. Because I hatched & I proceeded to be very good at everything I did."
"She was insufferable about it, unit. I was their trophy pup. My siblings stopped even trying to keep up with me. My father meant well trying to keep me close to him but that just meant I was given responsibilities & knowledge far beyond my years. So! You can see how being the responsible golden child translated into martyrdom...& when Dooku robbed me of my responsibilities all that was left was my maddening arrogance."
Grievous sounded amused by this, again in that twisted kind of way. The Sith had weaponized everything about him down to the traits that otherwise made him a demigod. Knowledge became arrogance, determination became spite, indignation became obsessive hatred.

For my ally is the Force, and a powerful ally it is. Life creates it, makes it grow. Its energy surrounds us and binds us. Luminous beings are we, not this crude matter.

“The only parts [C-3PO] clearly understood had to do with the Jedi Order being outlawed and all but wiped out (that news had been all over the Lipartian Way this morning) and the not-altogether-unexpected revelation that Master Kenobi had come here seeking Master Anakin. They were partners, after all (though despite all their years together, Master Anakin’s recent behavior made it sadly clear that Master Kenobi’s lovely manners had entirely failed to rub off).”
