lies | j.m. | part three
masterlist
JJ Maybank x Routledge!Reader x Best Friend!OC
A/N: Hey, y’all! So I’m back to writing this series. I know it’s been forever. But tbh I’ve just been really busy with school and work and all.  But now it’s summer and I have a tad bit more free time. Plus I still don’t have a new laptop just yet, but I've resorted to using my janky ass PC. I’m going to try to start writing a lot more now. I’ve got a new Stranger Things rewrite series in the works, so you can keep an eye out for that. :)
Warnings: Cursing, Lying, Drinking, Sorta Cheating?, A tiny bit of arguing, and probably some typos.
Word Count: 1.0k
Summary: Instead of rejecting your friend, you tell him you’re taken, which is a complete and total lie. Now that he’s asking to meet this so-called boyfriend of yours, you’re going to need someone to play the role of your imaginary love interest.
One thing that the pogues know how to do over the summer was party.
It’s what your brother and his friends were known for— throwing the best keggers in all of the outer banks.
So, tonight, to kick off the start of the summer, they decided to throw a huge one at the boneyard. And, of course, this was one that you and your friends weren’t going to miss.
Like all of the parties you and your friends went to, Kassi invited you over to get ready at her place. She always uses the excuse that she needs a second opinion for her outfit, but you never end up being much help.
Kassi had just got finished putting together the finishing touches for her outfit as you sat on the edge of her bed, watching her. “How are you and JJ doing?” She asked out of the blue. It’s been a little less than a week since Kassi and Julien met JJ, and neither of them had brought him up much.
“We’re doing good. Why do you ask?”
“I don’t know. You haven’t talked about him much. He’s going to be at the party right?” She asked, straightening out the pink dress she had finally decided on wearing.
“Yeah, he is. He’ll be helping run the keg stand.”
She just nodded, turning to look at you. “You ready to go?”
“Yep, I’ve been ready.”
--
After stopping to pick up Julian (who had been waiting half an hour for the two of you to arrive), you all finally arrived at the boneyard.
Kassi was the first to speak up. “Okay, Julian and I can go grab drinks, and you can go find your boyfriend, (y/n).”
You nodded, about to say a ‘Got it’ and begin searching for JJ when Julian interrupted. “Wait a second, is that him over there?” He asked pointing to JJ, dancing with a random touron in the middle of the sea of people. “What the hell is he doing?”
“No clue.” He was about to stomp down the boneyard to give JJ a piece of his mind before you pushed past him to do it yourself.
Once you finally reached JJ, you grabbed his arm and pulled him away from the blonde girl that he was dancing closely with. “What the hell?” JJ cursed as you continued to tug on his arm.
“What the fuck are you doing?” You asked him sternly, giving him an angry glare.
“I’m having fun. It’s a party. What am I supposed to be doing?”
“You’re supposed to be pretending to be my boyfriend. You can’t keep acting like you’re single, JJ.” You argued with him, hoping that none of your friends were near to hear you.
JJ rolled his eyes, annoyed at the conversation. “But, that’s the thing, (y/n), I am single. I’m going to want to have fun with hot tourons when I get the chance.”
“Not when my friends are here to see it. We had a deal, remember?” You raised your voice at him.
“Yeah, the deal was to pretend to be your boyfriend for one night. And I did; your friends believed it. The deal is over.”
You rolled your eyes at him, not understanding how he could be so dumb. “We can’t act like we’re dating, then pretend we’re not after a couple of days. They’ll know it was all a lie.”
“Maybe you shouldn’t have lied in the first place, then!” JJ yelled but immediately felt bad about it afterward. He looked around, running a hand through his blonde hair before looking back over at you. “Look, I’ll pretend for a little bit longer, but at the end of the month, we can pretend we broke up or something. Deal?”
You thought it over. It wasn’t a bad idea. After a month, the breakup wouldn’t seem too suspicious. Plus, you guys could think of something dramatic to fake-breakup over.
“Fine, deal.”
--
You both continued to party, together this time. Thankfully, your friends didn’t ask too many questions about the previous situation or your conversation with JJ. Though, Julian did share some disapproving looks toward JJ. You could tell he already started to change his opinion about him but didn’t want to bring it up just yet.
After some drinking, dancing, and a short but fun game of truth or dare, you all decided it was time to go home. Kassi jumped into the driver’s seat (sober obviously) with you and Julian in the back seat and a touron that Kassi had met in the passenger’s seat.
The car ride was quiet for a while until Julian finally broke the silence. “I don’t trust JJ.” He stated, shortly, staring forward.
“Why not?” You asked though you knew the answer.
He finally looked over at you, giving you a look that said ‘are you fucking stupid.’ “Because who in their right mind would dance that close to a random tourist when he’s already dating an amazing, beautiful girl? And then, you both acted like it never happened the entire rest of the night. It just doesn’t make sense to me.” He rambled on, too drunk, and not to mention angry, to care that he just called you amazing and beautiful to your face. “I don’t know, he just seems like he’s lying about something.”
You nodded along. His thought process made sense. In reality, he had every right not to trust JJ, but you had to keep lying to him. Just until the end of the month when this would all blow over. “I already talked with him. It was just a misunderstanding.” You drank way too much to think of a more elaborate lie, so you stuck with that.
“That’s bullshit. I don’t believe it.” He shook his head. There’s no way you were going to convince him to like JJ. But that was fine because you didn’t have to. You just had to convince him the relationship was real. And that seemed to be working so far. He sighed, staring in front of him to the back of Kassi’s seat. “Listen, I don’t like him. But, I’ll tolerate him for now… for you.”
--
a/n again: sooo, this one is short. And kinda bad. But, I hope you like it. I kinda wanted to add in some drama for this one. I hope it turned out okay. I didn’t really know how to end it tbh.

marry me | l.p.
masterlist
Past Luke Patterson x Female!Reader, Present Bobby x Female!Reader
A/N: So this is basically an AU where Luke and the boys come back a little earlier than they did in the show, so maybe like 2010? So that makes Bobby (Not Trevor lol) and the reader like 27-ish. Also, the reader can see the boys instead of Julie.
Warnings: Cursing, Mention of Death, Angst, Moving on? Idk if that’s a warning lol
Word Count: 819
Summary: After Luke and the boys died, you fell in love with the only member of Sunset Curve that was left. Now that Luke is back as a ghost, he has to bear the pain of watching the love of his life marry his best friend.
Song: Marry Me by Thomas Rhett
Luke knew this was the moment you have been looking forward to most. He remembered how your face brightened every time you spoke about your future. You had made it very clear that you wanted to get married, and he was okay with that. Because he wanted to be your husband.
He was supposed to be.
After what felt like only an hour in a pitch-black room, he suddenly appeared at the familiar beach from his hometown, except it looked a little bit different from the last time he’s visited.
He studied his surroundings, noticing the many white chairs lined up in rows with bouquets on the ground beside each row. His eyes followed in the direction of which the chairs were facing, finding a wedding arch, made up of pretty yellow flowers and greenery, with a bride and groom standing in front of it, facing each other.
He was at a wedding.
He took a second look at the couple at the front, finding them both to be familiar. He recognized the groom’s face to belong to one of his best friends, Bobby. Only he was just a little bit older than before.
That’s good for him, Luke thought, a small smile on his face. However, his face fell quickly when he realized who the bride was.
It was you. A little older, but still just as beautiful as before. His expression held a mixture of jealousy and confusion.
Why in the hell were you marrying Bobby?
“You may now kiss the bride.” He heard, causing himself to force his eyes away from the two of you. He ignored the cheers and applause from the crowd as he stared down at the sand underneath his shoes.
He stayed around as the reception started, walking around and watching all of the guests. Some of them he remembered, and some of them he had never even seen in his life.
He had eventually caught on to his whole “dead” thing when he overheard your mother tell your father that she thought you’d “never find love after Luke,” and that she was glad you finally have.
He had decided to take a seat and let himself process everything. It was a lot to take in. Hell, he just found out that he was dead and that his girlfriend and his best friend were now husband and wife in the span of one hour.
However, a familiar voice he hadn’t heard since he was alive pulled him away from his thoughts. “Luke?” You spoke, the look on your face telling him that you were both scared and confused. Luckily, you guys were far away from the crowd for anyone to hear you.
Hell, he felt the same way. If he was supposed to be dead, then why can you see him?
“You can see me?” Luke asked, thinking out loud.
“I guess so unless I just drank a bit too much wine.” He watched as you moved closer to where he sat, looking over your dress and the way your hair was styled. He should have been the one you were marrying. God, how he wished he was. “I thought you were dead.” You spoke again, still in disbelief of who was sitting before your eyes.
Tears welled up in your eyes as you remembered the day you heard the news. You were already upset that you were stuck at work and couldn’t watch him play the Orpheum. And then you find out that the love of your life was taken away from you by a fucking hot dog.
It took you well over a year and a half to even think about moving on.
“I guess I am.” He spoke at a whisper, now staring at the ground. “That’s what everyone keeps saying, at least.”
“Why are you here?” You asked. In any other context, it would have sounded rude. If it were any other person, he would have taken offense to that.
He just shrugged. “I just appeared here.”
You were still in shock. You had no idea what to do in this situation. Never once in your life would you have thought that you’d be speaking to the ghost of your dead ex boyfriend. So, instead, you just kept quiet, no idea what to say to him after all these years. Even though there were many questions you wanted to ask him.
“So you’re in love with him?” The question caught you off guard. “Bobby.” As bad as it sounds, you didn’t really realize who he was talking about until he said his name. Your husband’s name.
“Oh, uh- I- Yeah. Yeah, I do.”
“More than you were with me?” Luke questioned, again catching you off guard. Your gaze snapped in his direction.
At first, you were going to get defensive. But as the question lingered in your head, you knew what the honest answer was.
“Of course not.”

lies | j.m. | part two
masterlist
JJ Maybank x Routledge!Reader x Best Friend!OC
A/N: It took me so long to finally get to rewriting this. But, here it is, I guess. I’ll probably start on writing the third part tmrw.
Warnings: Cursing, Lying.
Word Count: 2.0k
Summary: Instead of rejecting your friend, you tell him you’re taken, which is a complete and total lie. Now that he’s asking to meet this so-called boyfriend of yours, you’re going to need someone to play the role of your imaginary love interest.
You woke up the following day, almost forgetting about the mess you got yourself into. Not only did you lie to your best friend, but you also had to pretend to date your brother’s best friend to back up said lie.
What in the hell have you gotten yourself into?
You reached over to turn over your blaring alarm from your nightstand, groaning. You laid there in bed for a second, giving yourself time to fully wake up before you reached over to check your phone.
You had a couple of notifications from apps that you barely even use anymore and a couple of unread messages. Some were from friends, just saying “hey” or “good morning.” But, there was one from JJ:
JJ: What time do your friends want us over there?
To which you replied:
(y/n) : Kassi said 7, so you should probably come over here at around 6:30.
JJ just replied a simple “okay” You just laid your phone back down on your nightstand, standing up to get ready for the day.
--
Soon enough, you were in your kitchen, fixing yourself the third bowl of cereal this week. John B soon emerged from the doorway, his hair clearly not brushed this morning. “Morning.” He murmured to you, his voice raspy as he had probably just woken up.”
“Good morning.” You mumbled back, pouring the milk into your bowl of fruit loops. Then, you watched as your brother poured himself a glass of orange juice, putting the milk back into the refrigerator.
“So,” John B started, “when are you and JJ going over to your friend’s house?” He asked, watching as you took the first bite of your cereal.
You allowed yourself time to chew and swallow your food before answering him, “He’s coming to pick me up at 6:30.” You simply told him, taking another bite of cereal.
John B nodded, finishing off his glass of orange juice and placing it in the sink. He moved over to lean against the counter beside you as you ate. “So, how long do you think this whole charade is going to last?” he asked you, crossing his arms over his chest.
You shrugged, having not really thought about the answer to that question. “I don’t know. I guess just however long it takes for Julian to stop liking me.” You chuckled a little at the end of the last sentence.
“But what if he doesn’t?” he questioned.
“I don’t know. I haven’t really thought about all that.” You shrugged again.
“Well, you’ve got to. You can’t just keep lying to your friends forever (y/n). One day, all of this is going to come back to bite you in the ass. And, when it does, I will be right here to tell you ‘I told you so’”
You just rolled your eyes at your brother, putting away your empty bowl and spoon. But, honestly, you knew he was right. You were well aware of the fact that you dug yourself a deep hole that you may struggle to get out of.
--
Before you know it, it was 6:28, and a knock sounded at your door. You had spent the entire day on your phone or watching tv, and to be honest, you weren’t ready at all for the events ahead. You opened the door, revealing JJ, his signature smirk spread out on his face. “Hey.” He greeted, walking past you into your house.
“Hey,” You greeted back, watching as he moved to sit on your couch. “I was just finishing up getting dressed. I’ll be ready in a sec.”
Just as you were about to turn around and go into your room, JJ stops you, “Oh, wait, here.” He threw a red hoodie, one that you have definitely seen him wear before, at you. You quickly caught it, looking down to see what it was before giving him a confused look. “You know how girls usually wear their boyfriends’ shirts? I thought it would be more convincing if you wore one of mine to the movie night thing.” He ended it with a simple shrug.
“Okay, yeah, that’s actually really smart.” You laughed before disappearing into your room.
--
Around a half-hour later, you were both on the doorstep of Kassi’s house. Kassi lived in between the cut and figure eight. She lived in a nice house with a nice family. She wasn’t as poor as the pogues, but she wasn’t as rich as the kooks either. She was in the middle. Finally, the door opened to reveal the pretty blonde girl that was your friend. “(y/n), hey!” She hugged you before looking over at JJ. “And you must be (y/n)’s boyfriend.”
“Yep, that’s me. My name’s JJ.” JJ shook her hand with a friendly smile.
“Nice to meet you, JJ. Come on in, guys. Julian and I already ordered pizza, and we’re looking for a movie to watch right now.” As she spoke, Kassi opened the door wider to let you and JJ inside.
You walk in to see Julian sitting on Kassi’s couch with the TV remote in his hand. Not gonna lie, you did feel kind of awkward seeing him for the first time after you rejected him. And, there was a small part of you that regretted lying to him.
He was wearing a white t-shirt and grey sweatpants, and his brown hair was messier than it usually was. He looked good.
As soon as he noticed you two walk in from the corner of his eyes, he finally looked in your direction. For a moment, you could see a hint of jealousy in his expression before he quickly hid it with a friendly smile. He stood up as you and JJ approached the living room. “Hey, man. I’m Julian. You are?”
“JJ.” The boys shook hands before everyone piled on the couch. You and JJ were cuddled up together, Julian was on the other side of the couch you two were on, and Kassi sat in the recliner by the couch.
The room was silent besides the sound of the remote clicking as Julian searched for a movie to watch. “So, how did you guys meet?” Kassi asked, trying her best to save the awkward silence.
“Oh, uh, JJ’s friends with my brother.” You answered casually, only earning a nod from Kassi. This question was easy. It was one of the few questions you’ve actually thought about.
“How long have you guys been dating?” She asked.
“About to be four months,” JJ answered this time.
Julian’s head snapped in your direction. “You hid a relationship from us for four months?” You could tell he was hurt, and that made you feel even more guilty if that was even possible.
“Julian, I’m sorry, but we couldn’t risk people finding out about us.” You tried your best not to get into a fight with your best friend of 4 years over a stupid, fake relationship.
“Oh, yeah? And why’s that?” Julian asked, his arms crossed. You and JJ looked over at each other, not knowing how to answer this question.
Okay, so maybe you should have thought this through a little bit more.
Just as you thought you were going to be caught in your lie, Kassi spoke up. “Julian, you know how protective her brother is. He wouldn’t let you hang out with her for a year unless someone else was there with you. So how would you think he’d react to finding out his best friend is dating his sister?”
“Exactly.” You agreed, nodding at Kassi.
“Maybe, but why couldn’t you at least tell me?” Julian asked, now turned towards where you and JJ sat with a hurt expression painted on his face. JJ just sat there as you did the talking, not wanting to get this guy mad at him and make everything worse.
“Because you could have told Kassi, and Kassi can’t keep a secret for the life of her. No offense, Kassi.”
“None taken.”
“Okay, I guess that’s understandable,” Julian muttered with a sigh, but you could tell he was still suspicious. “Now, what do you guys want to watch? I can’t find anything.”
--
Once the movie was over, everyone was exhausted and ready to go home. You all helped Kassi clean the living room before saying goodbye and heading out the door. “Bye, guys! It was nice meeting you, JJ!” The sweet girl shouted from the doorway, barely able to keep her eyes open.
“Nice meeting you too.” JJ smiled back, walking in front of you to his truck. You and Julian waved at the blonde girl before watching as she shut the door.
Just as you were about to catch up to JJ’s truck, Julian stopped you, “Wait.” You turned around to face him, giving him a questioning look. “I wanted to apologize.”
“For what?”
“Well,” Julian chuckled, scratching the back of his neck. “I didn’t necessarily believe that JJ existed.”
“What do you mean?” You asked, tilting your head to the side a bit.
“Like, I thought you were lying to me about having a boyfriend.”
“Why would you think that?” You chuckled nervously.
“Well, I don’t know. You’re just so sweet. I thought that you were pretending to have one just so my feelings wouldn’t get hurt.” Julian laughed as if what he was telling you was stupid. If only he knew.
“What? That’s crazy.” You laughed with him. “I would never lie to you, Julian. You’re my best friend.”
Julian nodded, smiling. “I know, and that’s what I love so much about you.” After that statement, the silence between you two became extremely awkward. “But, uh, I like JJ. He’s cool. You should invite him to hang out with us more often.”
“Of course.”
Julian glanced behind you at JJ, who was sitting in his truck waiting for you. “I’ll let you guys get back home. But, first, uh, one question.”
“Yeah?”
Julian lowered his voice to an almost whisper so JJ wouldn’t hear from the truck. “Does he know that I, uh, asked you out?”
You immediately shook your head no. “Of course not. I wouldn’t want him to get mad at you, especially since you didn’t know I was in a relationship.”
“Thank you.” Julian gave you a small smile, starting to head towards his car. “Good night, (y/n).”
“Good night, Julian.”
--
During that whole car ride, you and JJ talked and talked about just about everything. You laughed about the movie and about conversations that happened earlier. It was like you could never get bored when you were around JJ.
All good things come to an end, though, and JJ finally arrived at your house. “You spending the night tonight?” you asked him, your hand on the door handle.
“No, I think I’m going to stay at home tonight.” He told you, tapping his fingers on his steering wheel. “But don’t worry, you won’t have to miss me for too long. I’ll always be here in the morning,” He told you, making you smile.
“Can you walk me to the door?” You asked, only earning a nod in response as you both got out of the truck and headed to the front door. “Oh, I almost forgot. Julian said that he likes you and to invite you to hang out again.”
JJ smiled, putting a hand on his chest dramatically. “Well, I would be honored.” You both laughed, now standing on your front porch. “Just let me know when you guys are planning on hanging out again.”
“Will do. Good night.”
“‘Night.”
You were about to walk inside, and JJ was almost off the porch when you turned back around to add something. “Oh, one more thing.”
“Yeah?” JJ turned around to face you.
“Thank you.”
“For what” He furrowed his eyebrows, confused as to what you were thanking him for.
“For agreeing to, you know, pretend to date me. I would have been in so much trouble if it wasn’t for you.” You explained, causing JJ to give you a small smile in return.
“It’s no problem.” The sweet smile on his face soon turned into a cocky smirk. “But, remember, you’ll owe me one.” The blond boy winked before walking off to his truck and driving away.
You watched him drive off while rolling your eyes with a grin on your face. “Asshole.” You muttered to yourself as you entered your home and went straight to bed.
--
a/n again: so, I didn’t really change that much because I realized that I don’t actually hate it that bad, and I was just overthinking it as usual. It is definitely longer, though, so I guess that’s a plus?

traitor | j.b.r.
masterlist
A/N: I've been obsessed with this song for the past like week or so, and I wanted to make it into a fic, lol. Also, this is probably bad because I’m not at all good at writing angst. But I’m trying to get better at it lol.
Warning: Mention of Cheating, Cursing, Angst ig, Confrontation, Breakups, I think that's about it.
Word Count: 874
Summary: Immediately after your breakup, John B moved on with Sarah Cameron, which makes you start to wonder why he really ended your relationship.
Song: traitor by Olivia Rodrigo
Those five words continued to repeat in your head, over and over again. “I don’t love you anymore.” You just didn’t understand. You’ve been by his side through everything. When his dad went missing. When he decided to go looking for the gold. You were there for all of it, even when nobody else was.
And he just stopped loving you after everything you’ve been through together? How dare he?
Then, while you were still trying to cope with the breakup, Kie told you that he’s moved on. With Sarah Fucking Cameron.
You had despised her since elementary school when she and her friends picked on you for having a Dora the Explorer backpack. And, yeah, you knew that she and John B sometimes talked while you were dating. But he worked for her dad, so you didn’t think anything of it. Because you trusted him.
When you first heard about this new relationship, you were pissed, to say the least. And you wanted so bad to just storm up to him and rip him a new one.
But you didn’t.
Because, even though you hated him more than ever right now, you still wanted to stay civil. For the sake of the friend group. ‘Cause without them, you had no one.
But eventually, this weight started to pile up on your shoulders. Every time you saw him with her, you wanted to march up to him and hit him across the face. However, instead, you resorted to other things like giving him the death stare every time your eyes met or “accidentally” slamming the door on his face. For a second, it worked. But, eventually, you felt like all that wasn’t enough.
You needed to get this weight off of your shoulders. You needed to get closure and finally be able to move on. Just like he did.
Next thing you know, you’re standing at his doorstep in your pajamas at 2 in the morning, knocking on his door. You had no idea what to say or even why you’re here, really. But you need to say something, or else you’ll explode.
Not too long after, the door opened to reveal a sleepy John B Routledge. “(y/n)? What are you doing here?” He asked groggily.
“Is there anyone else home?” You asked, ignoring his question.
He shook his head, both confused as to why his ex at his doorstep in the middle of the night and concerned that something may be wrong. “No, it’s just me.”
“Good, I need to talk to you.”
“(y/n), we can’t get back to-”
You shook your head rapidly, letting out a humorless laugh. “Oh, trust me, that is not why I’m here.”
John B furrowed his eyebrows, not understanding why else you would want to speak with him. “Then why are you here?”
“Can I come in?” Once again, you ignored his question.
“Yeah, uh, sure.” He opened the door wider and moved out of the way so that you could walk into the house.
Shutting the door behind you, he started to move to his couch, but you stayed standing in your place in front of the door. “You betrayed me.”
Stopping in his tracks, John B turned back towards you, surprised by your words. “What are you talking about, (y/n)?”
“You and Sarah. I should have known you were lying when you told me you were just friends.” You let out another humorless laugh, standing at least 6 feet away from him. “You know, people would stop me on the street and ask me if I knew you two were hanging out. And each and every time, I defended you.” You practically shouted the last part before dropping it at least 50 notches. “Because I thought you loved me.”
“I did love you, (y/n).” He whispered, not looking you in the eye.
Ignoring him, you continued. “And I just think it’s so fucking funny that as soon as you broke it off with me, I hear that you and Sarah are suddenly an item.” Another humorless laugh. “And it made me think, maybe when you broke it off with me, you didn’t tell me the whole truth. You weren’t dumping me just because you stopped loving me. But because you started to love her instead.” Your voice started to crack as you spoke, but you wouldn’t let yourself cry. Not here, at least. Not right now.
John B stayed silent. Because you were right. He broke up with you because he realized he wanted to be with Sarah instead.
“And then, it’s like you purposely bring her around to show her off like she’s a new trophy. To taunt me. And to show me how happy you can be without me.” A single tear started to fall down your cheek, but you wiped it before John B could notice it.
There were a few seconds of silence as you collected the rest of your thoughts. Until finally, you began again. “And fuck, I feel so stupid, ‘cause I defended you to people who thought you were cheating on me.”
John B finally looked up at you, slightly hurt at the implied accusations. “(y/n), I never cheated on you.”
“I guess you didn’t, but you’re still a traitor.”
